Today we celebrate the feast of the Epiphany—Jesus re-vealing Himself to all nations in the persons of the Three Kings. One of the Christmas cards I received had this simple, but profound message: “And wise men till seek Him!” Each one of us is looking for Jesus and wants to have His peace and love in our hearts and in our homes. However, this is a danger: we (I) think we can find Him alone. There is a story of the Three Kings that I would like to share with you and that I believe is very important for us in the four churches in Port Chester now that we prepare to become ONE NEW PARISH in 2017! The story tells of the three Magi: one of them a man about 70, the other a man about 45 and the third King around 25 years old. When they came to the house where Mary and Jesus were they decided to go in to see the Christ child indi-vidually so they could talk with Him about how they saw things and to get His vision of the world. The first to go in to see Jesus was the oldest King. When he came out he was all aglow with excitement. It was a fan-tastic experience . The others asked what the King was like and the old man responded that Jesus was very much like him about 70 years old and the He saw and understood so many things in the world the way he did. The second king went in to see the Christ. He, too, came out all excited and enthused. However when the others asked him what the experience was like, he said the older king was mistaken. Jesus was more around his age, 4, and he saw so much in the world the way he did. Finally it was time for the youngest king to visit the Christ. He, too, came out enthused and excited. However, like the other two, he did not find the same Jesus. He told them that Jesus was about his age, 25, and had a similar world view to his. Then the young King said three was something wrong—they all couldn’t be right. He suggested that the three of them go in together to see Jesus and so they did. When the Kings went in together they found the infant Jesus in the arms of His Mother, Mary. The lesson is a simple one. We all have a tendency to want to see Jesus in our own way —but that often can simp-ly be a reflection of myself and not who Jesus truly is. If we want to see Jesus we must do it together! The more united we become as a parish—respecting each other’s views, lan-guages, and cultures, the more present the real Jesus will be in our community. Our Parishes proclaims Jesus and the only way non-believers will come to believe is if they see in us a communi-ty persons who really come together for good—if they can say of us what they said of the first Christmas community: “See how they love each other!” As we begin this New Year, my prayer is that as a parish we will have the courage to come together to seek Jesus as the Wise Men did, together, and then we will truly be able to proclaim His light and His truth to our Village and Rye Brook. God bless you!

Él también salió entusiasmado y emociona-do. ¡Si queremos ver a Jesús debemos hacerlo juntos!

Our Sunday bulletin is a primary way to communicate with you. Through our arrangement with the J.S. Paluch Company, the parish does not pay for the bulletin printing. That saves us thousands of dollars each year. Our bulletin is supported by the generosity of the advertisers, many of whom are parish members. Most are members of our local community. With gratitude for their support, we urge you to do business with our advertisers. Tell the business own-ers that you appreciate their support of our parish. This is a small way we can work within our own community. A strong, vibrant parish is good for our community and a strong business community is good for our parish.

To honor the Sacred Heart is to remember “the love that Jesus had for us in His incarnation and birth, in His life and preaching and especially in His Passion and death! Because the heart is the symbol of “love, we adore the Sacred Heart as the source of this infi-nite love…”

——————————————————————- Holy Hour of the Divine Mercy, January 8th at 3PM, at Corpus Christi Church.
