Welcome to the second edition of The Roundup for 2013. I hope this finds all members and their families well and relaxed after the festive season.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all of our winners in the Happy New Yaris promotion, in particular the 2 lucky members who won a brand new car each! What a way to start 2013. Over the next 3 months we have decided to add a few more promotions to the weekly calendar so we can find some more winners more often, plus we have a spectacular day planned for ANZAC day. The footy season finally is underway and I am sure all members will agree we have a great chance this year. CLUB IMPROVEMENTS

You may have noticed the Club has got the ball rolling with a whole host of internal and external improvements – and there are still more to come!

In 2012 we redecorated our bistro with some stylish new espresso coloured timber furniture which instantly gave the dining section a new lease of life. We have also installed 4 new Playstation 3 machines to keep the kids entertained.

To coincide with our new dining furniture the gaming lounge also got some snazzy new stools and the entire internal of the Club got a paint job to refresh the look of everybody’s favourite Club.

Once the internal improvements were under way it was time to look at the external. To give the Club a presence on Sturt Street we got the professional photographers and the builders in and designed the impressive entry signage that you will now see every time you drive past our car park.

The improvements haven’t stopped in 2013 with our impressive television upgrade. We now have 3 x 84 inch ultra high definition LED televisions in the restaurant to accompany our massive projector in the lounge area. No matter where you are in the Club you will be able to watch all the live action of the upcoming NRL season.

Our immediate upcoming plans are moving the gaming cashier from where it is currently located to the centre of the gaming room. The move will improve the service we offer to all our members. This exciting new project will begin in early April.

To keep our gaming lounge new and exciting we will also continue to install the latest and greatest in gaming room entertainment.

We also have some other exciting projects in the pipelines and we will keep our members up to date as they progress.

FROM THEKINGS THRONE

Every new NRL season brings excitement not only to our members and supporters, but also to our players and staff. This one is no different in that way but there’s a notable change in what everyone connected with our team feels about the 2013 season.

While there has always been hope that this will be a year where we will challenge for the premiership, this time there is an expectation that will be the case. There has been a lot of hype about the depth of this squad and I have no doubt that it is the most talented and dedicated group of players we have had during my time at the club. We are embracing the anticipation from our members and fans that we will be one of the main contenders to be there on grand final day.

It’s good to have expectation rather than relying on hope and everyone here at Cowboys HQ also expects us to do well this year by continuing to build on what we achieved in 2012. The boys have trained hard during a particularly hot and humid pre-season, but we know there’s still plenty of work to do and games of football to be won.

We’re excited to have this season underway and chase a third straight finals appearance. Our draw, as we hoped, didn’t feature many home games at 1300SMILES Stadium during the wet season and we have a strong run home with six out of our last eight in North Queensland.

I’d encourage everyone to get out to our ground and be vocal in their support of our team. Trust me, the extra noise does make a difference.

On behalf of the Cowboys club, I’d like to thank the Cowboys Leagues Club board for the $100,000 donation which allowed us to purchase the revolutionary Alter G treadmill for our training facility. The Leagues Club is a great supporter of the footy team and this is another fine example of that.

I also have to say thanks to all of our members and fans who attended one of our open training sessions or signing sessions during Cowboys on Tour month in Mt Isa, Cairns, Airlie Beach and Mackay. The response was tremendous and again demonstrated what a truly regional club we are.

The purpose of the Cowboys Supporters Team is to raise funds for the “Cowboys Scholarship Fund”. This involves providing

financial support to the elite-level development, talent identification recruitment programs and academies. Funds are
