Research Interests

My scope of research encompasses various novel applications of Analytical and

Environmental Technologies for water and wastewater treatment and to combine the

nanotechnology (NT) with environmental technology (ET) in order to develop environmental

friendly nanomaterials and novel nanoscale systems. To achieve this, I am focusing on the

fusion of NT and ET, such as inorganic/organic hybrid nanoporous materials, semiconductor

based nano materials and nanoparticles, based on the knowledge and techniques of different

disciplines – Analytical chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials

Science, Chemistry, Biology and Solid-state physics.

My research is carried out in collaboration with the Stockholm University, Sweden,

Lappeenranta University of Technology, Finland, Kwangwoon University, South Korea,

University Sains Malaysia and other Universities. Over the years, this work has attracted several

undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The research interests and expertise covers a wide range of areas including:

Environmental Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Green Chemistry and

Environmental Nanotechnology.

Development of Analytical methods for the identification and quantification of

Environmental Samples (Metals and Heavy metals) using Atomic spectrometry such as

AAS, ICP and Flame Photometry.

Photocatalytic removal and reduction of heavy metals present in water and wastewater.

Electro Analytical Chemistry.
