Senior Mentor for dissemination product development

Mentorship

I have been in a formally defined program development and mentorship role since 1989. My primary mentorship roles have been in supporting (1) pre- and post-doctoral students in development of early career (often first) submissions to professional journals and (2) junior faculty members in the process of securing their first independent research support, typically from the National Institutes of Health.

Concerning the former, my mentorship led to first publication successes with > 30 students (sometimes as a result of my project supervision but often due principally to my mentorship), many of whom went on subsequently to become regular contributors to the professional literature.

Concerning the latter, I have served as the primary mentor for 12 junior faculty who received their first grant funding with my help. I am particularly proud of the fact that everyone who has accepted my mentorship and participated fully in the process did succeed in getting their first grants. I also serve as a mentor for more senior faculty, and I have a comparable record of successes in these relationships.
