He was born March 19, 1939 in Lake Ariel, PA, the son of the late Howard and Dorothy (Brown) Enslin. Dale served his country in the US Army, stationed for two years at Fort Campbell, KY. He worked as a heavy construction mechanic for D&W Paving for 40 years. He was a member of Port Orange Christian Church since its founding. Dale loved to garden, fish, and relaxing in his easy chair with his cats. He is survived by his loving wife, Betsy J. Enslin, his son, James Enslin (Jenny), his two daughters, Janet Ecochardt (Robb) and Jean Wilson. He is also survived by his six grandchildren: Natalie, Nathan, Jamie, Jordan, Amelia, and Alexis as well as a brother and sister, Richard Enslin and Virginia Franc (Neil). Enslin 03/19/1939 - 05/09/2020 Elizabeth (Betty) Turp, 91, Village Trail, Port Orange, passed away April 27, 2020. Betty was born in Oneonta, NY, and raised in Portlandville, NY. She was the daughter of Glenn and Violette Packer. Betty married Richard Turp in 1954. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Hartwick College, Oneonta NY, and taught school in Saratoga Springs, Theresa, and Newark Valley, NY. Mrs. Turp moved to Florida with her husband and children in 1968 and was a music teacher at Westside Elementary and South Daytona Elementary for 24 years. Mrs. Turp and her husband of 52 years, Richard Turp, spent many years traveling, golfing, and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Turp, and sons Barry Turp and Jeffrey Turp. Mrs. Turp is survived by son Greg Turp and his wife Melanie, daughter Laurie Turp and her wife Chris Hanley, daughter-in-law Jan Turp, grandsons Rick Turp and his wife Kelly, Dallas Turp and his fiancé Jess Wade, and her great grandkids Caleb and Lucy Belle. Arrangements for her celebration of life are under the direction of Volusia Memorial Funeral Home in Port Orange at a date to be determined. Elizabeth (Betty) Turp March 18, 1929 - April 27, 2020 Eugene Stanley Diamond of Palm Coast, Florida, formerly from Bethpage, New York, passed away on May 10, 2020 at 93 years old. Born in Astoria, Queens, NY, Eugene was raised during the Great Depression. Gene later became a P-47 crew chief of the 8th Army-Air Force Unit stationed in Okinawa during WWII. This is where he developed his love of planes. Gene obtained his BA degree in Business at Hofstra University in 1951. He began his management career working for Pan American Airlines and ended his career in business working for Panasonic Corporation. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 68 years, Edna Diamond. Together they raised their two children in Bethpage, New York, Robert and Jeanne. He was also blessed with a beloved son- in-law, Anthony and daughter-in-law Elaine. Eugene leaves behind 5 loving grandchildren, Stephanie and husband Chuck, Christine, Dominick and wife Laura, Richard and Lisa. He also leaves behind his brother, Jim and wife Ellen. He was an avid boater, happiest by the water, loved his drums and music, especially jazz. He could put a smile on anyone’s face with his wry sense of humor. All found him a kind and gentle man whose smile would light up a room. Many thanks to the loving care provided to him these past 2 years at Brookdale Senior Living in Palm Coast, Florida. A service and celebration of his life will be held at a later date. He battled cancer for years to stay on this earth to care for us and never complained through all the pain. He thanked God for choosing him to go through the fight and be used to touch other people. She later moved to Florida where she achieved a master’s degree in psychology from USF, Tampa and dedicated her time to serving people suffering from addiction. Marybeth’s humanity and undying spirit can be felt in her two published books: the children’s Saving Libbie the Lobster, and the semi-autobiographical The Jumping-Off Place, Book One. The unfinished Book Two would have informed her later years living her dreams amongst a loving community that included her sister. In addition to her son, her legacy is her story and its inspiration. The world is poorer for her absence. Whether you knew her or not, she loved you. Jeitner March 12, 1951 - May 9, 2020 Caroline Utilia (Giannatelli) Bucceri passed to a better place on 7 May 2020 at the age of 91. Caroline was born in the Bronx, N.Y. and lived in New York, California and Florida. She was a wonderful wife married for 71 years to Paul A. Bucceri Sr. and mother to two sons, Paul A Bucceri Jr., and Robert N. Bucceri. After raising her children, Caroline continued her dedication to others by returning to college, earning her Registered Nurse credentials, and working for many years as a RN at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, California. Retiring to Edgewater, Florida, Caroline pursued painting as a hobby, becoming quite accomplished as an artist, producing a large body of excellent work. She is survived by her loving husband, her two sons, five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Her ashes will be scattered at sea. Caroline Utilia (Giannatelli) Bucceri 1928 - 7 May 2020 Jim Gallagher, 84, passed away at his home on 05/13/2020 in Daytona Beach, Florida, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born in the Bronx, New York to Hugh and Cathleen Gallagher in 1935. He graduated from Iona College in New Rochelle, New York with a degree in Accounting. Upon graduating he worked briefly for Haskins & Sells before moving to NBC News in NYC to eventually run the entire Business Affairs department, when it was the largest broadcast news organization in the world. He moved to Florida in 1975 to work at Walter Weeks Broadcasting before following his true passion in life and opening Mid Florida Sportswear in 1977, which he kept in the family even after retiring in 2000. Jim’s passions in life were his family and travelling. He went on 100’s of vacations and cruises with his family and friends, who were known as the “Happy Cruisers.” He was a true Irishman who celebrated St. Patrick’s day every year with a giant party. Jim is survived by his daughter MaryEllen (John) Koberg; daughter-in-law Patty (Kay) Borders; Grandchildren Byran (Charlee) Gallagher, Megan (Frank) Laga, Jimmy (Sara) Gallagher, Brad Koberg, Matt Koberg and his Great Grandchildren Hunter Gallagher, Parker Gallagher and Andi Laga. James Joseph Gallagher 08/18/1935 - 05/13/2020 Jerry Noal Koontz, 88, passed away quietly at his home on May 11, 2020 after a battle with cancer. He was born on November 21, 1931 in Lexington, North Carolina where he lived out his boyhood years until he enlisted with the US Navy as a gunner in the Korean War. When he returned from duty, he married his childhood sweetheart Jo Etta Beck and began a family in High Point, North Carolina. Wishing for greater opportunity and a warmer, more pleasant climate, he moved his family in 1963 to Daytona Beach to join his brother’s air conditioning company. In 1967 he and his wife started their own company, Koontz Heating & Air conditioning and grew their business to become one of the larger HVAC contractors in the area. His personal commitment to meet his customer’s needs along with an honest and caring attitude toward individuals set the foundation for the company and continues to this day with his son, Chris. He was active in the local community, participating in the Lion’s Club International as well as ascending to 32” Degree Mason and a Shriner. He spent his free time enjoying the outdoors; boating, scuba diving, fishing, snow skiing and tending to his immaculate lawn. He loved being around family, always teasing and playing with his grand, and great-grandchildren and will be missed by those that loved him most. Jerry Noal Koontz is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jo Etta Koontz, son, Mark Koontz (Lynn), son, Chris Koontz (Ashley), grandchildren; Michelle Treadwell, Michael Koontz, Rochelle Koontz, and Kailey Koontz; great-grandchildren, Tripp Treadwell, Adalynn Treadwell, and Abriella Koontz.
