Performance Dashboard TutorialIntroduction

This documents describes how to set-up the Excel templates provided by L3

Analytics The con!"uration is strai"ht forward# !ll in all !elds from the spreadsheet$%etup Dashboard& to personalise the template and we then press one button to

create the dashboard

%everal options are available to customise dashboards for everyone's needs %ome

help can be found for each !eld within Excel (omments but it is recommended to

The !rst step is to !ll in your company name 5or example+ for us it would be $L3

Analytics&#

6our company name will appear within the dashboard title#

0. Dashboard 7ersion Three versions are available for this Performance dashboard#

Dashboard V1 presents two charts and a sin"le vertical axis to chan"e

metrics usin" drop down boxes#

Dashboard V2 displays a text 8one to add comments instead of the second

chart#

Dashboard V3 also has a text 8one but users can display metrics on twovertical axis#

03 (olour %cheme Then+ we can choose a colour for our dashboard#

9e :ust need to select the cell and use the shadin" tool to select our colour#




This scheme colour will be used for the dashboard headers#

0; Text (olour9e can either choose blac) or white for our text colour 6ou may choose $9hite& to

better see title names with a dar) colour scheme#

. Personalisation

.0 %elect Period Then+ we need to de!ne a period This depends on the intended usa"e of your

dashboard 5or example+ to analyse performance every wee) I would choose a

wee)ly dashboard#

The period matters because it will be used to compare performance between two

date ran"es on a re"ular basis#

Please note that this period will also be used as the default interval on the charts for

the hori8ontal axes

this month a"ainst last month= or a custom period to compare with the yearbefore <ie this month a"ainst the same month last year=#

Please note that if you select a custom wee)ly period+ you will actually compare the

two last wee)s a"ainst each other (omparin" the current wee) with the same one

the year before cannot be achieved with this free template but L3 Analytics would

be happy to help you if you need any help on this point

.3 (urrency %ymbol The currency symbol needs to be entered to display any revenue metrics within the

dashboard#

3 @etrics30 4ame your @etric roups

The next step is to name the metric "roups 4ames are automatically duplicated on

the ri"ht table#

This will be used as the title for each metric table#

Instead of creatin" several dashboards you may add se"ments to display the exact

same metrics but for a subset of your data <ie only people comin" from abroad=#

Note that if you need more segments, simply enter more segment names directly

below the Segments table

4ote# this will only wor) once per template+ you cannot correct mista)es and rerun the dashboard

setup process but you can copy elements to a clean copy of the template



The result can be viewed on the wor)sheet $Dashboard&#

2nly the wor)sheets Dashboard and Data %ummary should remain visible#

? pdate2nce the dashboard has been setup+ we need to update it at the end of each period

by !llin" in the Data %ummary wor)sheet and clic)in" on the button $update&

?0 Date9e need to select here the date of the endin" period If we needed to insert data for

a wee)ly dashboard+ from the 1th of 2ctober to the 0;th+ I would write $0;,0/&#

5or a monthly dashboard I would have !lled in $30,0/& and for a daily one+ I would

have selected the date of the day

Please note that the date should automatically be updated with the format dd-

mmm 6ou may have !lled in a wron" value if you see a dierent format

?. @etrics The data for each metric "roup and se"ments needs to be inserted in the followin"

table for the desired period There are two ways to add those values#

@anually# we can copy,paste !"ures from any data sources

Automatically# we can use tools such as APIs to automatically push values

into the cells
