Principal’s Report
What an exciting first week back we had, with educational visits from two different groups.
On Thursday Alvin Umadhay and Youcef Abdi from Little Athletics NSW visited our
school. Alvin conducted coaching clinics with primary students, focusing on sprint skills.
Youcef shared his story of his journey from Algeria, where as a child he had no water or
electricity in his village, to becoming an Olympic athlete for Australia in the 3000m
steeplechase.
This was followed on Friday by a dynamic day of workshops from talented paper plane
pilots, Dylan Parker and James Norton. Students were eager to take on the challenge of
designing and making their own paper planes and the best part was testing them on the
tarmac! A very big thankyou is extended to Mrs Sarah Lennon who organised this
wonderful learning opportunity for our students. It’s one they will always remember when
they look back on their time at primary school.
The vast majority of parents have attended a parent/teacher interview and received their
children’s reports. I will be making phone calls later this week to encourage those who
have not yet had a meeting with their child’s teacher, to make an appointment as soon as
possible.
A reminder to parents and carers that children under 13 years are not legally allowed to
have a Facebook page. This law is there to protect young children from cyberbullying.
Regards,
Mrs Reardon
Principal

Term 3 Week 2—22nd July, 2015
The paper plane pilots Dylan James flew into T.P.S. last Friday, determined to educate our students about the principles and history of flight in Australia. The students were enthralled by making many different types of paper planes and were amazed at how far they flew. Dylan and James were the inspiration for the recent box office hit movie, “Paper Planes’ and were present on set during production, as the paper plane gurus. Our school P and C have organised a screening of the movie, this Friday at the Town Hall Theatre for $10 at 4pm. Tickets are available from the front office.
P&C Fundraiser:
PAPER PLANES Screening this Friday at the Temora Town Hall Theatre at 4.00p.m.
Tickets are still available from the Front Office. $10.00 per ticket.

P&C News
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Volunteers are needed to assist at the Temora Aviation Museum kiosk on Saturday, August 1. For manning the stall, the P and C will receive funds to purchase resources for our school and support visits such as last Friday’s Paper Planes day, which was a P and C initiative. If you can help for between one or two hours sometime between 8.30am and 2.30pm on the Saturday, it would be much appreciated. Men and women are needed to man the BBQs and prepare food. No handling of money is required. With many of our usual P and C volunteers out of town on this day due to the Junee rugby league knockout, it would be great if others could step up to assist. Please contact Edwina Sinclair on 0487-606-865 or [email protected] if you can help.

School News
Mortimer Shield Grand Final At the end of last term the year 5/6 League Tag team travelled to Wagga to participate in the Mortimer Shield Grand Final day. Their first game was against St Joesphs and they won 6-0, their second game against Melrose they also won 6-0. This placed them at the top of their pool and into the finals where they played Hay and won 3-1. The girls progressed into the final, playing Young Public. It was a hard fought and very physical match. The girls displayed excellent team work and determination. The end score was 1-1, although as Young scored first they were crowned the winners. Thank you to the parents who helped with transport and congratulations to the girls for their efforts!
Urgently needed: All jerseys from the boys and girls Mortimer Shield teams. Please ensure you return these jerseys by Monday 27th July as our Trent Barrett Team needs them.
