The 42 Beefeaters are the people who works, live and protect the tower and the ravens.

In Spanish we use the same name than in England, Beefeaters.

Covent Garden is one of London's most popular tourist attractions.

The name Covent Garden originates from when the land formerly belonging to Westminster Abbey, was 'the Convent Garden'.

EARLY HISTORY

THE BEDFORD STATE

• After the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1540, Henry VIII took for himself the land belonging to Westminster Abbey, including the convent garden and seven acres to the north called Long Acre.

• In 1552 his son, Edward VI, granted it to John Russell, 1st Earl of Bedford.

MODERN CHANGESMODERN CHANGES Covent Garden Estate was part of Beecham Estates and

Pills Limited from 1924 to 1928 and from 1928 it was managed by a successor company called Covent Garden Properties Company Limited, owned by the Beechams and other private investors.

TRANSPORT

• Covent Garden is served by the Piccadilly line at Covent Garden tube station on the corner of Long Acre and James Street. The station was opened by Great Northern, Piccadilly and Brompton Railway on 11 April 1907, four months after services on the rest of the line began operating on 15 December 1906.

History St Paul's Cathedral seen today was built

between 1675 and 1711 by Sir Christopher Wren.

Food• London's food doesn't come any more
