Reserve Judges: Deena Freeman, Alan Flynn, Tom Flynn, Becky Gibson, Sarah Tuck, Alison Smith Please note: the judges named against all classes are provisional and may be altered once numbers of entries are confirmed. Confirmation of judges will be on the ring plan which will be sent out with running orders.

ELIGIBILITY FOR CLASSES

In the following definitions of classes, First Prizes or other prize wins are those gained in standard classes at any Kennel Club licensed Championship Agility, Premier Agility, Open Agility or Limited Agility Shows (i.e. special classes and invitational events excepted). Only a first place with a clear round completed within the course time set by the judge will count towards grade progression. Standard classes may be scheduled for Agility Shows as Agility classes or Jumping classes. All standard classes must contain the Weaving Poles obstacle. Standard Agility classes must contain the following elements: ‘A Ramp’, Dog Walk and See-Saw. With this proviso, classes are defined as follows: - Class Structure. A class may be either held as a Graded Class or a Combined Class. A Graded Class may be scheduled for one or more consecutive Grades with separate results and awards issued for each grade. A Combined Class may be scheduled for more than one consecutive grade with one overall set of results. Progression. Progression from each Grade will require one Agility win or three Jumping wins in standard classes at that grade, at either Full height or the Lower Height Option, except that progression from Grade 5 will require 3 wins at Grade 5, one of which must be an agility class. Progression from Grade 6 will require 4 wins at Grade 6, two of which must be agility classes. Results from Combined Classes will only count towards progression from the dog's current grade. Points Progression. At the handler’s discretion a dog may progress up to Grade 4 by winning 100 points at each grade, using the Agility Warrant points scheme, (Regulation K3.c refers), except that there is no requirement for a minimum number of agility points. If this method of progression is selected, the handler must ensure the Show Secretary signs the dog’s Agility Record Book at the first show entered at the higher grade. There is no time limit on this progression, however, once a dog has progressed, it cannot return to a previous grade. Progression on points must be done prior to the closing date of entries. It is not possible to change a grade once the entries have closed.

STANDARD CLASSES Only first prizes and points gained in standard classes at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows may be used for progression through the classes. (A dog is only eligible for one grade). In defining the eligibility of the owner or handler for Grade 1, the three jumping wins and point’s progression referred to in the definition apply only to one dog and not an accumulation of dogs. Grade 1 (Elementary) For owners, handlers or dogs which have not gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first places in Jumping Classes at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows. N.B. Owners, handlers or dogs previously qualified out of Grade 1 (Elementary), are not eligible for this class. Grade 2 (Starters) Open to dogs which are not eligible for Grades 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and have not gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first places in Jumping Classes at Grade 2 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows, or elected to progress on points from Grade 1. N.B. Owners, handlers or dogs previously qualified out of Grade 2 (Starters), are not eligible for this class. Grade 3 (Graduate) Open to dogs which are not eligible for Grade 1 or 2 or have elected to progress on points from Grade 2 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows and dogs which are not eligible for Grade 4, 5, 6 or 7. Grade 4 (Novice) Open to dogs which have gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first places in Jumping Classes at Grade 3 or elected to progress on points from Grade 3 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows and are not eligible for Grade 3, 5, 6 or 7. Grade 5 (Intermediate) Open to dogs which have gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first places in Jumping Classes at Grade 4 and are not eligible for Grade 3, 4, 6 or 7. Grade 6 (Senior) Open to dogs which have gained a minimum of 3 first places at Grade 5 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows, one of which must have been gained in an Agility (not Jumping) Class, and are not eligible for Grade 3, 4, 5 or 7. Grade 7 (Advanced) Open to dogs which have gained a minimum of 4 first places at Grade 6 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows, 2 first places must be gained in Agility (not Jumping) Classes.

Qualifying points will be awarded down to 10th even if the show does not award class places down to 10th.

Discover Dogs Small / Mixi Pairs Challenge (Special) 2018

This is a competition consisting of eight heats of jumping. The competition is open to small dogs, partnering either a medium dog or a large dog, and heats will be scheduled as a Special combined class for grades 1 to 7.

Eligibility The competition is open to two dogs with separate handlers. One dog must be a small dog, 35cm or under at the withers, the partner can be either a medium dog, over 35cm but 43cm or under at the withers, or a large dog, over 43cm in height. Handlers with more than one dog may enter in more than one pair. However, they may only qualify a maximum of two dogs for the final. No surrogate handlers will be allowed in the final. Should a qualified dog or handler within a pair be unable/unfit to enter the final, that pair will not be able to compete. Their place in the final will be offered to the next available pair with the highest points who have not qualified.

Competition Rules The competition will be held under Kennel Club rules and regulations for Agility and any handler entering the competition will be deemed to have agreed to abide by these rules and regulations. Standard rules will apply and all equipment used shall be of a standard size set at the maximum height for each category. This is a relay competition with a baton change taking place either in a box or behind a line at the judges’ discretion. No part of the next dog/handler must be over the start line at the change over; failure to observe this will incur a penalty of twenty faults. An elimination will incur a penalty of 100 faults, should a dropped baton will incur a penalty of 20 faults. A team member may only be eliminated once during a round. The competition will involve a change of height of the obstacles being jumped by the medium/large dogs at one stage during the class. The judge will decide which height of dog to start with and will announce the change of height when relevant. It is the competitors’ responsibility to be available accordingly. The course will be walked by everyone before the beginning of the class. The final will consist of two rounds of jumping competition. The winners of the Discover Dogs Small / Mixi Pairs will be the pair with the least combined faults in the fastest combined time calculated over the two rounds of the final. Discover Dogs will be held at Excel, London in 2018. Car parking will not be provided by the Kennel Club. Qualifying Points will be awarded to the specific pair (consisting of two handlers with their dogs) which competes at the heat. Points are not transferable between different pair combinations. Pairs will score 15 points for 1st place down to 1 point for 15th place. Points will be accumulated over all eight heats and the 15 pairs with the most points will go through to the final at Discover Dogs 2018.

This competition will be classified as combined Grades 3, 4 and 5 and judged under the Kennel Club Regulations for standard classes.

Dogs should be eligible to enter a Grade 3, 4 or 5 class at the time of qualifying for the Quarter-Final. Any subsequent wins gained by the dog will not alter

its eligibility to compete in the Quarter-Final, Semi-Final or Final.

Competitors may enter more than one dog in a heat. Competitors may qualify more than one dog for the Quarter-Finals and also the Semi-Final at

Olympia, however only the competitor’s highest placed dog at the Semi-Final will qualify for the Olympia Grand Final.

Once a dog has qualified for the Quarter-Final, further heats may be entered for competition although any placings in these further heats will not affect the

dog’s eligibility for the Quarter-Final/Semi-Final.

The first five previously unqualified placed dogs from each heat will go forward to the Quarter-Finals at the Kennel Club International Agility Festival held

annually in August, if the heat is split then three dogs will be taken from each part. The first twenty dogs from this Quarter-Final will qualify for the Semi-

Final at the London Olympia Christmas International Horse Show.

The 20 dogs who qualify for Olympia will compete in a Semi-Final at Olympia. The top ten highest placed dogs in the Semi-Final will qualify for the evening

Grand Final at Olympia (subject to the above).

Those dogs eligible to compete in Novice Large Dog Agility competitions are those measuring over 430 mm (1 foot 5 inches) at the withers.

12 Years and Over (Handlers 12 years and up to, but not including 18th birthday) - Large Dogs, Medium Dogs and Small Dogs

• Please enter the class age category you will be on the day of the qualifier. If you should move into the next age range after you have already qualified,

the YKC will invite you into the correct age group at Crufts.

• The YKC method for Crufts qualification is a points based system as follows:

1st Place = 30 points;

2nd Place = 15 points;

3rd Place = 10 points.

• If a member and dog combination accumulate 30 points or more, they will qualify for Crufts. If a member gains 30 or more points with multiple dogs,

they may only compete with one dog at Crufts, but they will have the option to choose from any of the dogs they have 30 or more points with. All

points are reset to 0 on 1st January each year.

• Members must ensure that their fees to the Young Kennel Club (YKC) are up to date and fully paid in order to enter any Young Kennel Club class. If

you enter or compete in a Crufts qualifier and you have not previously paid your membership fee then any award will not count towards qualification

for Crufts. Proof of membership fee payment will be required in order for an award to be accepted and confirmed as a Crufts qualification
