Matthew 2:1-2:12“After Jesus was

born in Bethlehem inJudea, during thetime of King Herod,Magi from the eastcame to Jerusalemand asked, “Where isthe one who has beenborn king of the

Jews? We saw hisstar in the east and

have come to worship him.””When King Herod heard this he was

disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. When he had called together all the peo-ple’s chief priests and teachers of the law,he asked them where the Christ was to beborn “In Bethlehem in Judea,” theyreplied, “for this is what the prophet haswritten:”

“ ‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land ofJudah, are by no means least among therulers of Judah; for out of you will come aruler who will be the shepherd of my peo-ple Israel.’

”Then Herod called the Magi secretlyand found out from them the exact time thestar had appeared. He sent them toBethlehem and said, “Go and make a care-

ful search for the child. As soon as you findhim, report to me, so that I too may go andworship him.”

”After they had heard the king, they wenton their way, and the star they had seen inthe east went ahead of them until itstopped over the place where the childwas. When they saw the star, they wereoverjoyed. On coming to the house, theysaw the child with his mother Mary, andthey bowed down and worshiped him. Thenthey opened their treasures and presentedhim with gifts of gold and of incense and ofmyrrh. And having been warned in a dreamnot to go back to Herod, they returned totheir country by another route.”

The day after Thanksgiving Day, isknown as the busiest shopping dayof the year. From all the reports I

have seen, the malls were full of shoppers. You know what that means do not you?American men are once more underincredible stress.

In a recent article, British psychologistDavid Lewis reports that shopping is haz-ardous to men’s health. He tested volun-teers 22-79 years old by sending them outChristmas shopping. He recorded bloodpressure rates that “you would expect tosee in a fighter pilot going into combat.”

According to this same test, only one infour women showed any significant signsof stress from shopping just one of manygender differences in America today.

The question has been posed: “Whatwould have happened if there had beenThree Wise Women instead of Three WiseMen?” The answer: They would haveasked directions immediately upon com-mencing their trip, which would haveallowed them to arrive on time; they wouldhave helped deliver the baby, cleaned thestable, made a casserole and brought cutelittle outfits that baby Jesus could haveworn on his trip home. Amen!

As it happened, they were wise men notwise women and while we think of thesemen as part of the Christmas story, theywere not present on that first Christmas. They did not arrive on the scene till wellover a year later. Starting this today andgoing through the month of December Iwould like for us to consider a group ofpeople, who while we think of them asbeing part of the Christmas story, nevermade it as witnesses to the event. Thismorning we will be looking at a group ofmen we know as the wise men.

How many were there? Most assumethree gifts, but there may have been more.We do not know. Who were they? They

were called “Magi.” As such they weredevoted to the study of the stars, but morethan that, we do not know. Where werethey from? Some have suggested ArabiaBabylon Persia; we do not know.

There is so much about these men thatremain a mystery even to this day. All thatwe really know about these men is thatthey were called wise men. The question Iwould like to pose this morning is whatmakes these wise men so wise? And evenmore to the point, how can we be just aswise today?

They Were Wise In Their Decision ToSearch For Jesus. They recognized God atwork in the world surrounding them. Thewise men, these men of science and thestars were brought to a decision to seek outand find “the King of the Jews.” They didnot have all the facts when they started, butthey had enough to know they needed tosearch.

Not every man of science has been led toacknowledge God; many in pride haveturned away from the Lord, but these menwere brought to a conviction not only ofGod’s existence but of God’s active deal-ing in the affairs of men.

Safety Tips: New Year’s Eve

december 30, 2011 www.dfwelitenews.com page 4

If you are hosting a New Year’s Eve party

Following a few simple rules could prevent a tragedy:

Plan ahead by naming a “designated driver.” Make this your responsibilityas the host. Contact a local cab company to provide rides for yourguests.Serve non-alcoholic beverages as an option to your guests. Stop serv-ing alcohol to your guests several hours before the party ends.Provide yourguests with a place to stay overnight in your home.

If you are attending New Year’s Eve parties

If you drink, don’t drive plan ahead and always designate a sober driverbefore the party or celebration begins. If you are impaired, call a taxi, usemass transit, or get a sober friend or family member to come pick you up.Or,stay where you are until you are sober. Take the keys from someone if youthink he/she is too impaired to drive. The tragedies and costs from drinkingand driving impaired don’t just end with the potential death, disfigurement, disability, and injury caused by impaired drivers. Driving impaired or ridingwith someone who is impaired isn’t worth the risk. The consequences areserious and real. Not only do you risk killing yourself or someone else, butthe trauma and financial costs of a crash or an arrest for driving whileimpaired can be significant

Happy New Year! Do You Know theHistory of Watch Night service?

Special to Elite News

At a recent community event, an elder taughtme the history behind “watch night servic-es.” So much of what we do culturally as

African Americans has a poignant historical signif-icance. We must share the history of our enslave-ment, struggles, culture and traditions with our chil-dren, grandchildren and the larger community.Maybe there wouldn’t be so many “lost” youngblack people, if we inculcated African Americanhistory, cuture and traditions into their marrow.

Despite centuries of revile and persecution, Jewshave survived as a people, religion, culture, andnation, not just because they are God’s “chosen peo-ple,” but because every observation and celebrationis a transmission of their history. I would daresaythat African Americans know more about Jewishhistoriography and culture than about their people.Like you, in 2011, I resolve to follow the lead ofthat community elder by sharing the facts behindWatch Night and other black traditions.Reprinted below is an excerpt of an article origi-

nally written by Charyn D. Sutton for her WatchNight© presentations and published by ThePositive Community in 2004. For more informa-tion, please contact Ms. Sutton [email protected].

“Watch Night Services,” the gathering of the faith-ful in church on New Year’s Eve was a fairly stan-dard Christian religious service. There’s a history ofWatch Night in the Methodist tradition. However,New Year’s Eve services are particularly importantin African-American congregations. On December 31, 1862, also known as

“Freedom’s Eve,” Americans of African descentcame together in churches, gathering places and pri-vate homes awaiting news that the EmancipationProclamation had become law. Then, at the strokeof midnight, it was January 1, 1863, and accordingto Lincoln’s promise, all slaves in the ConfederateStates were legally free. People remained in church-es and other gathering places, eagerly awaitingword that Emancipation had been declared. Whenthe actual news of freedom was received later thatday, there were prayers, shouts and songs of joy aspeople fell to their knees and thanked God.But even before 1862 and the possibility of a

Presidential Emancipation, African people hadgathered on New Year’s Eve on plantations acrossthe south. Many slave owners tallied up their busi-ness accounts on the first day of each new year.Human property was sold along with land and fur-nishings to satisfy debts. Families and friends wereseparated. Often they never saw each other again inthis earthly world. Thus coming together onDecember 31 might be the last time for enslavedand free Africans to be together with loved ones. So, Black folks in North America have gathered

annually on New Year’s Eve since the earliest days, praising God for bringing us safely through anotheryear and praying for the future. Certainly, those tra-ditional gatherings were made more poignant by theevents of 1863 which brought freedom to the slavesand the Year of Jubilee. Many generations havepassed since and most of us were never taught theAfrican American history of Watch Night. Yet ourtraditions and our faith still bring us together at theend of every year to celebrate once again “how wegot over.” — Charyn D. Sutton © 2004.

Is it Time for AllChristians to Stand-up and be Counted?

Part I

Yes, it is time for allChristians to standup for the Laws of

God. God created Adam& Eve, not Adam and Steve. Listen to whatGod says: “ So God created man in his ownimage, in the image of God created he him:Male and Female created he them (Gen.1:27).

And God blessed them, and God saidunto them, be fruitful and multiply and replen-ish the earth, and subdue it (Gen. 1:28). Thefirst dispensation innocence was governed bythe Edenic Covenant. Under this Covenant,Adam had six obligations (1) to replenish theearth with children; (2) to use nature for hisphysical needs including food and shelter; (3)to have dominion over animal life; (4) to eatfruit and vegetables; (5) to labor for his suste-nance; (6) to obey God.

Let us deal with the first obligation.First of all God told him to replenish the earth. Now, how is it possible for two men to replen-ish the Earth with children? The woman shallnot wear that which pertaineth unto man, nei-ther shall a man put on a woman’s garment:for all that do are abomination unto the Lordthy God. (Deut. 22:5) That word abominationmean – detestable by God. In the Greek lan-guage, which comprises the New Testament, abomination could mean, looking at a deaddog that’s rotting with maggots in him.

Listen to God’s word again inRomans: “ Wherefore God also gave them upto uncleanness through the lust of their ownhearts, to dishonor their own bodies betweenthemselves: Who changed the truth into a lie,and worshipped and served the creature morethan the creator. For this cause, God gave

them up unto vile affections: for even theirwomen did change the natural use into thatwhich is against nature ( Romans 1:26).

After reading these scriptures oneshould understand that God made the world togo in a certain cycle. He made woman for man,if you don’t believe that turn to (Genesis 2:18)And the Lord God said, it is not good that theman should be alone; I (God) will make him a

help meet for him. Helpmeet is not a degradingposition for the woman. The verb form basical-ly means to aid or supply that which the indi-vidual cannot provide for himself. The NewTestament translation boethos is used in thesense of physician. It conveys the idea of aid-ing someone in need, such as the oppressed. AGodly woman meets this need of man. Meetcomes from the Hebrew word meaning oppo-site.

God made this world to go in a cer-tain direction, which means creative order, andanything that goes opposite of this creativeorder is outside of God, because God createdeverything within Himself. The Bible says thatit is better to obey God than Man. It is againstGod’s’’ law, and His will for two ol rusty footmen to lay along side one another and say““Baby I sho do love you” from a man and awoman relationship, or two women. It’s a slapin God’s face, because what they are saying isthat God made a mistake when He made me, Ishould have been a man (woman) or, I shouldhave been a woman (man).

We as Christian no matter whatDenomination, all should come together andstorm Washington with a lobby that has neverbeen witnessed before, and stand up for God.We are too quiet on certain issues. We paytaxes, we vote, we have businesses, so we havea right to be heard, and we as Christians muststand up and be counted to let the world knowthat these Gay marriages are morally wrongand stands against everything the Fathersendorsed for the basics of this Country.

I read the article that James Raglandwrote in the Dallas Morning News, “Marriages for Gays? I say yes.” He states thathe had been trying to dodge that question.Being from East Texas and Black I wasfloored, because I know those people carriedtheir children to church. Going to church wasnot an option. I still can’t believe he is inagreeance with Gay marriages. He mentionstradition, a man and a woman marrying is notradition, it is God’s will, and anybody who donot think that is God’s will has the mentality ofan atheist. Gay marriages is not what Godordained, God ordained man and woman notthe other way around.

May God bless you real good, andmay He ever keep you in his loving care.

Dear Dr. Hollie

Ihave three adult childrenand a total of five grand-children, ages 8-16. My

children are all raising theirkids to be responsible andrespectable citizens.

The grandchildren all getexcellent grades in school andtheir conduct grades

are excellent as well. I’ve alwaysenjoyed visits from all my children and

grandchildren.Recently, however, I’ve noticed a dis-

turbing trend. All of my children have begun to treat me with disrespect—not

allowing me to finish a sentence, disregarding my opinions, talking down

to me as if I am a naughty child. Though this annoys me; it’s not the real issue. If

this continues, I just will refuse to be in their company. The issue is that

my grandchildren are starting to show disrespect as well.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Dear Respect,

There are many ways tohandle this situation and, Imust say going on a cruise iscertainly one of the best.Tough love is needed andappropriate in this veryserious matter. You couldestablish the raising of yourindex finger as an indicator

that you are feeling disrespected. And,at that point all conversation is to ceaseand all eyes should be on you for furtherinstructions. Your goal should be toteach them how to model love, compas-sion and respect for others.

Have a Happy NewYear. This is your year togo up!

Whenever, I amc h a l l e n g e dwith what

seems an insurmount-able problem, I can easi-ly become stressed – try-ing to resolve the issuemyself; instead of going

to God in prayer, andasking for His helpand guidance.

I think – as humansour initial response to

any difficult situation is to attempt to ‘workthings out by ourselves’ – and yet we can saveourselves so much anguish by ‘giving it to God’and asking Him what we need to do.

When things go awry, in my life, my tenden-cy is to isolate myself or to busy myself doinganything and everything – rather than confrontthe very issue that is causing me to waste mytime and energy, “hiding in busy-ness”.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 encourages us to:Rejoice always, pray without ceasing in every-thing give thanks, for this is the will of God inChrist Jesus for you. (NKJV)

That’s pretty hard to do – because when trou-bling times have come - the first thing I havetended to do through life, has been to ‘panic’-not even stopping to think to thank God for anopportunity to grow in my faith – that is,before I learned how my God, who loves me,strengthens me, guides me, helps me – when Ihave given my concerns to Him – but ofcourse I do have to ask for His help and how Ishould deal with the situation.

Invariably, a solution happens along that Iwould not or had not thought of – I’d been sowrapped up in worry! God pursues us eachand every day – He wants what is best for us,and when times get tough we need Him morethan ever – let’s not hide ourselves in busy-ness, let us make our first step to ask Him whatwe need to do, and then wait for His solution.

Prayer: Abba, when we are trying to resolvetroubling issues in our lives, please remind usthat You are ready and willing to help – but wehave to ask You to! Keep us from draining ourenergy resources, by keeping busy and keepingyou at bay. Amen

“According to thePromise” Luke 1: 46-55, the lesson highpoints were, “PraisingGod for His faithful-ness, God has beenfaithful through outour generation and

learning how to strenghten our faith.” Dr.Johnny H. King delivered the morning mes-sage titled, “The first Announcement ofChristmas” Luke 2: 8-14. Blessing be uponall of our readers of these articles.

From the Mount

We trustthat youa n d

yours had ablessed Christmasand you wor-shipped the Christchild on the day

designated as Hisbirthday. Westarted our serv-ices earlier than

usual to allow our children to presenttheir Christmas presentation. Thechurch school lesson was “Accordingto the promise” Lk.1-46-55. Again wesee God keeping a promise that hemade in Is.7:14 saying that “a virginshall conceive and bear a son and shallcall his name Immanuel.” The lessonitself focused on Mary’s song of praiseto God for being chosen to be the ves-sel that God would use to bring his soninto the world. From this lesson we wasonce again assured that our God is akeeper of promises even when the onehe made the promise to is dead. OurMorning message was delivered by ourPastor Eld.Lloyd Morgan from the sub-

ject “How we know that Jesus was theChrist.” For this the pastor formed agroup of witnesses who presented theProphesies concerning the coming ofChrist and after hearing the doubterasking for proof of the fulfillment of theprophesy the witness for Jesus readfrom scripture the fulfillment of theprophesy. After having gone throughmany passages of scripture the congre-gation who was the designated Jurywas asked to render a verdict onwhether or not the scripture proves thatHe was indeed the Christ, the foremanthen arose and declared that by a pre-ponderance of the evidence Christ wasin truth the Son of God. On SaturdayDecember 31, beginning at 10:00pmwe will observe our “Watch meeting”,we invite all that have a desire to wor-ship with us as we see the old year outand the New Year in. in the event wedon’t see you we wish you and you’re aHappy and blessed New Year.

Be Blessed

Many people look forward tothe new year for a new start onold habits.

Eld Lloyd T. Morgan

Being faithful toour prayer closetexperience, will

certainly guarantee us avictorious prayer life.As we already clearlyindicated, sin is thegreatest impediment toa victorious prayer life.Of course, we all havesinned and come shortof perfection; we all

have transgressed God’s Law. It is so obviousthat Satan never gives up his desire to win usaway from God. And he can only do so if welet him. But the devil is a liar. Amen. When weenter our prayer closet we are energized withthe power of God, if we pray with sincerity. Thanks be to God, and we can “be strong inthe Lord and the power of His might” and canovercome adversary.

An optimist stays up until midnight to see thenew year in. A pessimist stays up to makesure the old year leaves. ~Bill Vaughan

The NFL season is just aboutto come to a conclusion, the tough is getting

tougher, the pretenders are stillpretending. I guess somewheredown the line we made this a sea-

son for make believe. Instead of what it’s about.Speaking of pretenders, I’d like to apologize to Jerry

Jones. In all his wheeling and dealing, somebody soldhim a plow mule for a race horse.

I’d like to apologize to the Cowboy players, we or I,expected you to do something you’re not capable of doing“WIN”.

I know there’s no special way to win. I had the fortuneof traveling with the last 3 Cowboy teams to win SuperBowls. The Only thing this team has that those teams had

in common, the star on the helmet, nothing else. And ifI were Jerry Jones, until they show some improvementI’d change the helmet to white, and put a clown on thehelmet. In respect to first off Tom Landry, and the rest ofthe Cowboys that earned the name “Americas Team”.

Since 1966, every team that had a string of champi-onships or Super-Bowls with the exception of NewEngland had to beat the Cowboys to get there.

All the Lombardy teams, the Jim Brown ClevelandBrowns, The Steelers and 49ers. The league is settingrecords on these guys, scoring records, and come frombehind records. But back to my apology, they don’t havea thing at valley ranch. They don’t have one player ontheir defensive team that’s playing Pro- bowl caliber offootball. They don’t have one on the offense that shouldbe allowed to buy a ticket to the Pro-bowl. Romo’s play-ing pretty good but there are 4 quarterbacks better rightnow than he is. Some poor souls might even thinkDeMarcus Ware. Ware doesn’t have enough Bull Dog inhim, and the Cowboys don’t have enough Bull Dogs ontheir team.

You couldn’t keep Charles Haley, Michael Irvin,Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman, and I could name 20 moreon the bench as easily as it is to keep DeMarcus Ware onthe bench when a game is about to be decided. Win orlose a true Bull Dog wants to be in the fight.

I think Jay Ratliff can play has played Pro-BowlCaliber tackle, he’s getting worn down because alike ofbody weight. Jason Whitten same thing about to wear himdown. The rest of them shouldn’t be in the league, if sothey should be chasing Kick offs.

I thought as most people thought they might have acoaching problem. But I’m not about to disgrace thecoaching profession by asking them to win with TerranceNewman, Mike Jenkins type players. And if you have ateam with Brady James as a Captain, you have big timeproblems. Aside from being short on talent it’s even short-er on intelligence these guy’s make childish mistakes. I’mnot talking about a backup safety, I’m talking about front-line guys De Marcus Ware get a couple offside’s everygame, and he’s a captain. Take this plow Mule out of theKentucky, then your expectations change.

Christmas Day started off with Christmas breakfast and return-ing all the text, calls, and emails to wish me a merryChristmas, than a couple of visits to friends to wish them a

Merry Christmas then goes to the excitement for the day. The NBAFinals rematch with Miami at Dallas.

It’s time for Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks to defendtheir title on the court. Dallas was in a bind and didn’t seem like theywere wanting to win until newcomer Lamar Odom was ejected forsomething he said while arguing a charging call late in the third quar-ter. Then Jason Terry got hyped and that got the Mavs within 17 mid-way through the fourth. Dallas coach Rick Carlisle recognized how unlikely it was that they

would come all the way back, so he kept Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Kiddand Shawn Marion on the bench the entire final period. Terry endedup leading Dallas with 23 points. Nowitzki scored 21 in three quar-ters. Marion scored 12, and Delonte West added 10 in his Dallasdebut.

Lamar Odom, the NBA’s reigning Sixth Man of the Year, got astanding ovation, and got fans roaring again when he made a 3-point-er that tied the game at 11. He missed his next five shots before get-ting tossed, but still left to loud cheers. He had four points and fourrebounds in 13 minutes.

LeBron James had 37 points, 10 rebounds and six assists as theMiami Heat got a measure of payback for the NBA Finals by open-ing this season with a 105-94 victory on Christmas Day against theDallas Mavericks.

Miami scored at least 30 points in each of the first three quarters.James had the top highlight, tipping an alley-oop pass to Dwyane

Wade so he could have the dunk. The Mavs were down by 15 afterone quarter, 21 at halftime, and 35 a few minutes into the second half.Dwyane Wade had 26 points, eight rebounds and six assists as theHeat cemented their status as the preseason favorite to win it all.

Miami was seeking revenge from an NBA finals loss to the DallasMavericks. “We didn’t come together to make the playoffs or cometogether to win a playoff series, we came together to win the NBAfinals,” stated LeBron James this week. I still believe we won’t miss out on a winning season in the Dallas

Mavericks, I have faith in them and I’m sure all of their fans will to.Go Mavs

Little Known Black History

Special to Elite News

Apostle Murray is the pastor and General Overseer of FullGospel Holy Temple, and founder of Lobias MurrayChristian Academy, a 12-grade fully accredited school, locat-

ed at 330 Ann Arbor in Dallas, TX. He dies at age 84 on Dec 23rdAs a pastor in the City of Dallas for the past 40 years, he has con-

sistently dedicated himself as a Servant of God to the religious, edu-cational, and humanitarian welfare of the Dallas community, and toall mankind.

As a Man of God, he preaches an authentic, transforming, anddeliverance gospel. Like a balm in Gilead, his message is the anti-dote for broken lives and wounded spirits. Endowed with a ministrythat is evidenced by signs, miracles and wonders, souls are saved, delivered and set free by the power of God in each service. His min-istry transcends ethnic barriers and reaches people from all walks oflife. The hallmark of his ministry is the laying on of hands for thereceiving of the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

In the religious community, Rev. Murray founded Full Gospel HolyTemple Church in 1961. Under his astute leadership the church hasexpanded to a membership of 3000 locally, and an incorporated bodyof fellowship churches, numerous outreach ministries, a bi-monthlychurch magazine, numerous radio broadcast, and the L&S ChristianCamp.

In the educational community, Apostle Murray founded the LobiasMurray Christian Academy (LMCA) in 1979. LMCA, located at330 Ann Arbor (in Dallas' Oak Cliff section), is a 12-grade privateschool accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges andSchools and Texas Education Agency. Presently, it is distinguished

as the first accredited, K-12th grade African-American owned schoolin the city of Dallas and state of Texas. Located on the same premis-es with LMCA is the Shirley Murray Child Development Center. This licensed and state accredited facility for ages 18 months throughkindergarten is named for its namesake and founder, EvangelistShirley Murray, Apostle Murray's wife.

As a humanitarian, Apostle Murray and First Lady EvangelistShirley Murray started the Helping Hand Outreach Ministry, inDecember 1981. The organization gives food, clothes and toys toneedy, indigent, and homeless families during the Christmas seasonand throughout the year. During the 1998 Christmas season, theHelping Hand aided over 2500 families in the Dallas - Ft. Worthmetropolis with toys, clothes and food. Apostle Murray is the recip-ient of numerous awards, plaques and plaudits from community andsocial organization for his humanitarian and spiritual contributions.During the 1985 Summer Commencement of, now defunct, BishopCollege, Dr. Wright Lassiter, former college president, conferred thecoveted Honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degree upon ApostleMurray, esteeming him as a 'renaissance man' and as a 'principalarchitect in the religious and education communities in Dallas.'

The church was established in June 1961 with only six members.A remnant of those six remain today as faithful charter members.Since the beginning, the handiwork of God has continually manifest-ed itself upon the Full Gospel Holy Temple ministry. God's Shekinahglory is witnessed in each service, bringing forth testimonies ofdeliverance, miracles and transforming lives.

Due to an increasing membership, Full Gospel Holy Temple hasrelocated three times in its 44-year history. In 1963, the churchmoved from Second Avenue to 1103 East Ninth Street to accommo-date the young, growing congregation. At this location, the first

FGHT "Broadcast of Deliverance" was aired over radio stationKHVN (formerly KNOK). The first radio announcer, as well aschoir director was Dr. Shirley Murray, first lady of the church.

Six years later, due to a flourishing membership, larger facilitieswere once again needed. Thus, in June 1969, the church relocated to2152 Fordham Road. Within three years the sanctuary was filled tocapacity. The term, "wall-to-wall people," was frequently used todescribe the packed conditions in this edifice.

Today with an active membership of over 4000, and steadilygrowing, God's Divine, infallible Word remains at the forefrontof the FGHT ministry. With God's help and guidance, "We'veCome This Far By Faith."All services will be held at FullGospel Holy Temple World Headquarters.

Left to cherish the memory of a great man of faith, vision, integrity and wisdom is: his widow, Dr. Shirley Murray, threedaughters, Sharon (Eld. Alfred) Smith, Gwendol ReneeMurray and Brenda Rice; one brother, Lovester (Margaret)Murray; one sister, Velma (J.C.) Reedy; 14, grandchildren; 11great-grandchildren; a loving nephew, Dr. Autry Terry; a hostof nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and the Full Gospel HolyTemple, Inc. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr.Herman and Mrs. Willie Mae Trimble Murray, his only son,Elder Herman Lobias Murray, Sr. and a brother, BishopLorenza Murray.

The wake for the Apostle Lobias Murray will be Thursdaynight at 7pm. The funeral services for The Chief ApostleLobias Murray will be Friday, December 30, 2011 at11:00 a.m.

Remarcus Larry

West, son of

state Sen. Royce

West, dies in Dallas at

33

State Senator Royce West and family are mourning

the loss of his middle son, Remarcus Larry West, age

33. The younger West died after a lengthy battle

with a gastrointestinal illness.

Remarcus Larry West was born in Houston, Texas

on October 3, 1978 to State Senator Royce West, Sr.

and Ruby West. He spent his childhood days grow-

ing up in Dallas, where he attended Good Street

Baptist Church. It was during this time that he real-

ized the importance of a personal relationship with

Jesus Christ and accepted Christ as his Savior
