GIVING TREE THANKS Every year St. Lucie parishioners generously and lovingly fulfill the Christmas tree requests for those in need. You provide items asked for and many times go beyond this. Diapers and formula, clothes and toys, food certificates … all go to those who would not have a gift this Christmas if not for you. As you witnessed from the requests, most requests were not frivolous. Items requested were truly needed. Thank you on behalf of these individuals for gifts most appreciated. Amazingly so, providing such joy does give the donor an extra sense of gratitude to God!
Christmas Liturgy for Children: Sunday, December 24th at 6:00 PM
The 6:00 PM Christmas Eve Mass has been designated as a Children’s Liturgy. During this mass the younger children (1st grade and younger) will be invited to come forward to sit in front of the altar for a “children’s dialogue homily.” At the end of the homily there will be a small token gift given to each child. Although designated a Children’s Liturgy everyone is certainly welcome. We hope to see lots of extended families: grandparents, parents and children, and anyone who wants to see the joy of Christmas in young eyes.

EUCHARISTIC INTENTION The bread and wine for Sunday, December 17th through Saturday, December 23rd, 2017 was donated in Thanksgiving for the assistance provided by the Society of St. Vincent DePaul for those within our parish area needing assistance.
TAKE CARE OF NEW CARPET AND PEWS
Parents are reminded to escort your child to the Narthex, Chapel or Rotunda if feeding your baby a bottle. Formula/milk drips on fabric pew seats and carpet and is nearly impossible to remove. No child should be eating or drinking anything inside the church ever. It has taken many years to install new carpet and pews. And please, no gum chewing in the church! Let each of us take care.
ST. ANDREW LUTHERAN CHURCH November 8, 2017 Dear St. Lucie Roman Catholic Congregation and Father Mark Szanyi, On behalf of St. Andrew Lutheran Church I want to thank you for “loaning” Father Mark to us on Sunday, October 29, 2017 for our three worship services. That day we were celebrating the 500th Anniversary of Martin Luther nailing the 95 Theses on the door at the Wittenburg church which marks the beginning of the Protestant Reformation. His presence shared the grace that God has extended to all of us as we worship our Lord and Savior Jesus. Father Mark represented you all very well. Our congregation was so excited to have him preach and share the good news of the gospel with us. The worship that day was certainly one to remember and it continued the wonderful relationship we have with our two congregations! God has blessed both our congregations and we look forward to working together to continue to share God’s love with his community and the world.! Again, thank you for sharing Father Mark with us! Blessings, Pastor David Dangerfield St. Andrew Lutheran Church
FROM FR. MARK Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Lucie: As we continue to prepare for Christmas during this season of Advent, I need to share some personal information with all of you. Recently my mother was diagnosed with an aggressive form of lymphoma. After consulting with several doctors, they have all agreed that her prognosis is not good, and that she is not a candidate for chemotherapy. The drugs normally used to treat her type of lymphoma are very effective but very toxic. They normally are not given to anyone over 85, because they cause more harm than good, even death. My mother is a very active, intellectually sharp, 97-year-old. After consultation with two different oncologists they, and my mother, have determined that the best course of action is palliative care, and to leave the rest to God and nature. She is at peace with her decision, and my sisters, brother and I respect her decision. I will try to spend as much time with her in the coming months as possible, and I ask for your understanding if I am not always here when you are looking for me. In the immediate future, I will fly to Buffalo on Christmas morning to be able to spend this Christmas with my mother and siblings. I will return on January 6th. After that I will see when my schedule allows for future trips. I ask for your prayers for my mother and for all of us who have loved and respected her all our lives.
Fr. Mark
CHURCH CHAPEL CHILDREN’S CHAPEL
When you come to church you may sit wherever you like. However, for the weekend liturgies, we do encourage families with small children to use the chapel if the kids will be kids and may disturb others sitting near them. So…if you don’t want to hear little toddlers’ voices or fussy babies during mass, please sit in the main body of the church. If you are in the main body with kids who might be disturbing others, please take advantage of the chapel. Thanks, we want to make everyone feel welcome.
BEREAVEMENT MEETINGS If you are working your way through the grieving process from the death of a spouse, parent, child, sibling or friend, be reminded that grief support meetings are available to you every Monday at 10:00 AM in the Parish Library. All bereaved are invited to receive support.

OFFERTORY ENVELOPE PLEA Little things make a BIG difference. Please do not tape or glue offertory envelopes. They do come with a tab that can be moistened to seal. Any tape product attaches to other envelopes. Thank you for caring and making our work easier. And… don’t forget to place the amount of your gift on the envelope. Posting is done after the envelope is emptied.
REGISTERING FROM PEW ENVELOPES
We are grateful that the white pew envelopes are being used for those who forget their offertory envelopes. But for new parishioners requesting “I want to register” located on the envelope, please provide a legible phone number in addition to your name(s) and address so that you may be contacted. Be sure to PRINT. We do our best to contact you to complete your registration. Sometimes we begin this process and send you the paperwork to complete and return to us. If you receive such paperwork, PLEASE return it to the Parish Office or drop it in to any offertory basket. Use of a pew envelope does not mean you are necessarily registered, even if you use them often. If a donor wants contributions to be recorded, they need to be posted to an account number that belongs to the donor. If there is a question regarding your registration status, please phone the Parish Office at 878-1215 and we will be glad to check! You’ve reached middle age when weight lifting
consists of just standing up.
POOR CLARE NUNS TO PRAY FOR US
The nuns of the Poor Clare Monastery in Delray Beach have agreed to pray for our intentions. Cards are located on the tables in the back of the church. If you have a special intention, please complete one of these cards and put it in the collection basket or give it to one of the friars. Every two weeks or so these cards will be sent to the nuns who will pray for our special intentions. The Poor Clare Nuns, as you probably know, are the contemplative order of Franciscan nuns named after St. Clare of Assisi.
PRAYER CHALICE FOR VOCATIONS Our “traveling” Prayer Chalice makes a weekly journey to parishioner homes. Volunteers take the Prayer Chalice at any one of the Sunday Masses, bring it home, place it in a visible location within the home, and pray daily before it with prayers to promote vocations within the Church. The chalice must be returned by 4:00 PM on Saturday so that it is available for the next volunteer family. Prayers will accompany the chalice but one may opt to pray other prayers. Prayer is a beautiful way to keep vocation intentions strong as our heavenly Father calls to hearts. Contact Peggy Wall at [email protected] if interested in signing up for a particular week. Phone 772-370-0169. You select the week!
SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROBLEMS As we are aware many families or friends are afflicted with substance abuse problems. We now are providing a ministry that will help you or anyone you know that may have an addiction problem. Our ministry will provide someone to talk to as well as education and direction to the right community resources. Be assured that all calls are confidential. You may reach Ron or Balla-Rena Jones who are both retired addiction counselors at the following numbers:

Invítenlos a volver. Feliz Navidad, Fr. Mark A. Szanyi, OFM Conv., Párroco
