2011 REVIEWGee Whiz, time ies!! Here we are at the last issue o ourpublications or 2011, then it is HO, HO Merry Christmasollowed shortly aerward by Happy New Year and thats it another year gone by, never to come again.

Up until we hit November, I have generally been thinkingthat this was a pretty good year!! Te Jet has grown into his jobas head o security, and a mighty ne job he is doing ... totalbusiness losses due to the or embezzlement - a big at zero!!!!Te missus seems easier to get along with or maybe Im justgetting so in my old age. Te GRAND, grand-daughter hasbeen just grand all year and a pleasure to have nearby. As longas we continue to play hide and seek, have oot races, andimaginative play times together, I know that Im not getting anyolder.Although, under-unded by millions o dollars, my woods road

reconstruction advanced quite signicantly during the yearBetween the lousy wet weather we had and work on the woodsroad, I didnt harvest as much wood as I had hoped to but nobig deal.

So lie has been not too bad in 2011, until November rolledaround. Ten I mashed three ngers while working on my woodchipper, which was ollowed quite quickly with a lung inectionbut that little rough patch seems to be coming to an end. Bothngers and lungs are recovering and I expect by the New Year tobe back in tip-top condition.

November did, however, bring one antastic blessing thebirth o our second Grand-grand daughter, Charlotte RoseCharlie is already getting regular instruction on how to sayGrumpy, although I am willing to accept Bumpy to start o

with, i she ollows the same learning curve as her cousin.o all o the people who make up the Ossekeag Family, readers

advertisers and sta, I want to wish everyone the very besChristmas Season ever. Make sure that you take the time toenjoy amily and riends. Also remember, Feeling gratitude andnot expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it. -William Arthur Ward.See you when we return in 2012 or another challenging year as

we seek to Build Better Communities!! 800

HE PERFEC REEI love Christmas. I cannot remember a time I didnt loveChristmas. As December 1st approached, I anticipated haulingout the boxes and bins o Christmas decorations and startedplanning where things are going this year. We have spenttwo Christmas seasons in our new home now, but I am stillexperimenting with where I want old avourites and pickingup the perect thing or new nooks and crannies. Te piecede resistance is o course the Christmas tree. Mike and I havealways had a real tree, and now with living on 170 or so acreso mostly trees one would think the problem would be whichlovely tree to choose. Not so.

Last year we started early . . . like March. We stomped all upand down the woods eyeing every r tree we saw. By earlyDecember I was getting desperate. Finally we agreed that the

best solution was to cut a tall tree and use the top or Christmasand the remaining sowood or campre wood. Except . . . aertwo attempts, still no acceptable Christmas tree. Tose tops thatlook so lovely and lush and ull rom 30 eet down on the groundwere not nearly so appealing at eye level! So . . . we bought a tree.A real one or sure. And it was beautiul. And in spite o manymiles o walking those same acres this year, it looks like we willdo the same again. How it is possible to have all those trees andnot a decent Christmas tree to be ound I do not understand, but it is so.

Much as I enjoy the decorating and eating and the gi giving, the real joy o Christmas is the people. Tis Christmas we havean additional amily member with whom to celebrate, as wehave a new grand-daughter born in November. Welcome to little

Charlotte Rose, your cousin Carmen cant wait or you to get bigenough to join her in ganging up on Grumpy!

I extend a big thank you to all o our readers and advertisers.May you all enjoy this holiday season with amily and riends.May you look orward to 2012 with joy and anticipation. Andmay those who have lost someone dear to them nd personalpeace during this time. Especially, Merry Christmas to Mike(who can drive me crazy but is much loved), to our two beautiuldaughters, to our new son-in-law, to my Mum and to my brother, and to our two lovely grand-daughters. You are all very dear tome. Miss you, Dad. 801
