“For the second 4me in Advent, we hear the story of Elizabeth and Mary encountering each other. We refer to

the mother of Jesus as the ‘blessed’ mother. Here, Elizabeth notes that reality when she cries out, in the Spirit,

that her cousin is ‘blessed.’ Mary is blessed in two ways. First, because she has demonstrated a stunning faith

in God, and second because she is the chosen one who will bring the Son of God into the world.”

Dear Friends in Transfiguraon Parish, On behalf of the people of

Sts. Peter & Paul Parish and in my personal name, I wish you a very

Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year 2019 full of health,

prosperous, joy and happiness. I would like to take this opportunity

to thank each and every one of you personally for your moral and

spiritual support and especially for your great financial generosity.

Thanks to this gesture of support we could: educate the children,

announce God’s Word, administer the Sacraments, serve the poor

and gather Sunday for the Eucharist. Please know that, if we were

able to realize all this, it is thanks to you. On behalf of all the pa-

rishioners I thank you form the bo7om of the heart. I pray that God

sees everything in secret and rewards you secretly. With the ap-

proach of the end-of-year holidays where our Savior could not find

welcome in His own city, many are s4ll those excluded from the

society like Him and that parishes tries to help thanks to your gen-

erosity. With warmest wishes and thanks, Father Banive Peralte

Thank you! Thank you to everyone who donated to our Christmas

families this year, with food, angel giMs and monetary dona4ons, as

well as to the volunteers who helped deliver everything. Thank you

to the Circle of Mary for your help wrapping giMs. A special thank

you to Regina Streithof and her husband, Mark, for coordina4ng

this project. It is beau4ful to see this project become a parish-wide

effort to help needy children in Botetourt.

Christmas Second Collecon With your support, Commonwealth

Catholic Chari4es serves those in need throughout the Diocese of

Richmond every day. Your offering this year will give the giM of

food, family, warmth, home, and hope to our neighbors in need.

Thank you!! The Refugee Rese7lement Office of Commonwealth

Catholic Chari4es would like to thank all the parishioners for do-

na4ng warm clothes for our families each winter, & your household

items throughout the year. Thank you to the Knights of Columbus

for the coat drives. Your warm clothing with hats, scares and gloves

are all gratefully used; for most of them it is their first winter experi-

ence in Roanoke. Thank you for sharing, and may you con4nue to

be blessed with Christmas peace and joy the whole year through.

Fesve Open House at Madonna House Tuesday, January 1, 2019
