solid waste management
Dear DeKalb Residents:
The DeKalb County Sanitation Division continually strives to provide an efficient, cost-effective and sustainable integrated solid waste management program for its commercial and residential customers. This integrated approach comprises garbage, recyclable materials and yard trimmings collection, processing and disposal services, with a sustained focus on customer service excellence. In 2017, the division will embark on several environmental sustainability initiatives, including Phase II of the DeKalb County School District’s recycling program, and a countywide glass recycling program.School recycling program. Branded Read ◆ Write ◆ Recycle, this program aims to introduce and continually promote innovative and sustainable recycling program initiatives and participationwithin the DeKalb County School District’s schools and facilities.Glass recycling program. To support this effort, county-operated glass recycling containers will be strategically placed in each commission district.Collaboratively, we have made great strides toward sustainability, and we are still on that journey. We encourage you to join more than 77,000 single-family homeowners currently enrolled in the division’s curbside single-stream recycling program.
