SPRING HAS SPRUNG! Welcome to the selling season. I wish it was a rainy selling season, but that’s another issue. I’m personally excited to tell you about all that is happening with the Delta Association of REALTORS. First, our 3rd Annual DAR Crab Feed was a huge success! Thanks to all of you who attended and sold tickets! Feedback was great, and next year’s will be bigger and better! Huge thanks to Scott Macintyre, Crab Feed Chair and DAR COO Tonia Nielsen for all their efforts to make this event come together.

I had the pleasure of being hosted by Supra/UTC, the maker of our lockbox and key system, to Oregon for a few days, along with other local Associations and their leaders, to get to know the inner operations of Supra/UTC, see their plant and call center in action, and to come together to discuss any issues we have within our agent population or within our local user area. We discussed new technologies that will be coming in the future, and how to streamline our user experiences. It was a positive event that should bring some great things to Delta members in the future.

DAR Leadership has been working many long hours on our updated Strategic Plan, in conjunction with adherence to the new Core Standards. We worked in conjunction with C.A.R., as they allowed us a day to work with Sara Sutachan, Director of Broker

Outreach and we made significant progress toward completion of the plan, which will be approved by the Delta Board of Directors, before submission to NAR.

Thank you to all who attended the DAR Annual Meeting. It was great to share

some timely information and also see a terrific demonstration from Bill and Lori Cook, “Looking Out For You,” discussing personal safety and awareness of your surroundings. Important dates to remember: Wednesday, April 22 – Legislative Day in Sacramento. Lunchtime keynote speaker is CA Assembly District 16

Catherine Baker (Rep) please book your space NOW by calling 925-757-8283. Friday, May 1 – DAR Day at the Races – a wonderful afternoon of food and fun; Friday, July 24 – Regions 5/6 Lunch with C.A.R. President Chris Kutzkey, time and location TBD.

We still need volunteers on committees to help keep this Association running smoothly. We depend on volunteers like yourselves to give as little as 1 hr/week. Please contact James Britto at 925-305-9479 or Errol Mooney at 925-381-3838 to discuss opportunities. As always, you can also contact John Bedford at 925-949-6388.

With your support, we can provide you, the membership and our communities with strong advocacy and service. I look forward to seeing a strong showing in Sacramento by Delta membership.

Delta REALTORS® Community Service Foundation 19th annual bowling tournament was held on March 16, 2012 at the Harvest Bowl in Brentwood. There were Twenty-four teams of four bowlers each; most were outfitted in unique bowling shirts created especially for this major foundation fundraiser.

Recognizing the value that our community service programs have both in providing help where needed and in reminding consumers how our industry is involved in quality of life issues, a number of sponsors made donations for the raffle, helping to assure the event to be a success.

Winning teams were: First Place went to team 23 Returning Champs Sheri Hazen, Scott Hazen, Jeff Brooks and Erin Gonzalez. Second Place went to team 9 The Drysdale’s Kenny Riley, Jeff Mears, Derek Ramirez and Jerrod Williams. Third Place went to Team 8 One Power Bernie Randy Kerr, Duane Newberry, Kathy Estrada and Tracey Manci. Scott Hazen took scratch series and Darrell Hanson scratch game. For the women Kathy Estrada scratch series and Amanda Miller scratch game.

The winning team for the shirt contest went to Prospect Mortgage, The Loan Ladies.

Phyllis Miller with Fidelity national Home Warranty took pictures of our event, Andy Perry with Old Republic Title selling raffle tickets and 50/50 tickets and Dan Barns with Berkshire Hathaway was our MC. A special thank you to Cathleen Griebling for all the hard work putting this event together. A big thank you to everyone who donated raffle prizes.

This year’s bowling tournament raised over $2700.00 for the Delta REALTORS® Community Service Foundation. In addition to the bowling tournament the foundation will hold a Harvest Run, Day at the Races and have a Rocktoberfest.

The Board of Directors of the Delta REALTORS® Community Service Foundation, under the direction of President Maggi Hurtado, meets monthly on the second Thursday at 9:30am. Every DAR member is invited to participate in the fund raising events and all are welcome to attend the director’s meeting.
