Facts about the Olympics The Olympic Flag has five circles on a white background. The colours of the circles are blue, black, red, yellow and green. All the national flags of the world have these colours. The five circles show the number of continents in the world. The Olympic torch or flame is a symbol of the Olympic Games. The torch shows the stealing of fire from the Greeks. The fire keeps burning during the Olympic Games.
This year, the Special Olympics celebrate fifty years. They organise sports events for
persons with special needs. One hundred and seventy countries participate in the Special Olympics. More than five million athletes take part. A huge number of volunteers help out in the organisation of the sports activities. .
