CD Dress-Freshman Year, 2010-2011

For this final iteration of using 100 objects to create a body amour, I wanted to create a garment that created a sense of awareness on body movement while still making something that was not too immense for the person wearing it. Using 100 CDs and fishing wire, this garment continually shows body movement by the reflection of the CDs, and makes both the model and the audience aware of that.

Simplification of Paper Clips-Freshman Year, 2010-2011

One of the projects that I worked on was a simplification of a household object. The main purpose of a paper clip is to connect and hold items together. So focusing on the connection aspect of the paper clips, I created 3 dimensional simplified paper clips that could connect in not only one direction, but in multiple ways creating complex 3 dimensional designs.

Movement vs. Static Block -Freshman Year, 2010-2011

This final project occupies only 50% of a box while focuses on the contrast of movement and being static. The block incorporates that contrast on every side which encourages the viewer to pick up the piece and follow movement throughout the block. With abrupt stops, it encourages the viewer to find new paths.

Literary Center Study-Sophmore Year, 2011-2012

First Floor Plan

For the sophomore immersion studio, we were asked to create a literary center that focuses on a guest writer that would showcase their work with a continuously changing art gallery for local artists. I wanted to create a center that incorporated classical ideas, especially the concept of rotating an axis in the building and yet creating a warm, public gathering space. With the writer on the third floor overlooking the public reading area creates a connection between the writer and their audience, while still giving the writer the privacy.

The site was located in a commercial area with residential area all around it. This design for a literary center fits into the context around the building with masonry treatment to the exterior. It also responds to the residential area surrounding it with outdoor gathering spaces on both the north and south sides of the building.

One of the most important aspects of this design is the sense of community, this is highlighted in the reading space with a grand table that creates the sense of community and that everyone is together.
