HOTEL & LEISURE PORTFOLIO

We are Dexter Moren Associates, an award winning practice of 50 people working across architecture, urban planning and interior design. We provide an individual approach to each project; we are passionate, commercially astute and committed to producing beautiful buildings that respond to location & context.

Since we started in 1992 we have established a world renowned reputation in the hotel sector. Today we bring the same combination of design, commercial and human understanding that made us known in hotels to everything we do, be it a boutique hotel, resort, residential development or sports stadium. Our work has been recognised with a series of industry awards, including the European Hotel Design Award for our Edible Hotel. We were also acknowledged as a finalist at the Architect of the Year Awards in the Sports & Leisure category.

HOTEL BRANDS WE’VE WORKED WITH

SHANGRI-LA HOTEL AT THE SHARD

Appointed as executive architects this project involved resolving complex design & buildability issues by our site based team.

GREAT NORTHERN HOTEL KING’S CROSS

CONRAD LONDON ST JAMES

Conversion of Grade II listed 19th Century former hospital into luxury hotel.

HOTEL INDIGO KENSINGTON& THE KENSINGTON QUARTERCAFE BAR RESTAURANT

The ‘neighbourhood story’ lies at the core of the design concept of this refurbishment and draws inspiration from the nearby performance venues of Earl’s Court.

HILTON LONDON BANKSIDE

The hotel’s layered brick, metal and glass façade is designed to create a contemporary insertion into the locale and reflects the industrial context of the Southbank neighbourhood.

THE AMPERSAND HOTEL SOUTH KENSINGTON

Multi award winning hotel which tells a design story referencing its South Kensington museum location.

APERO BAR & RESTAURANT

HAMPTON BY HILTON LONDON WATERLOO

The hotel’s contemporary façade subtly changes in appearance during the day as the angles in the pre-cast concrete facia, combined with the use of cladding in different colour tones, captures light and shadow.

HOLIDAY INN MANCHESTER

Inspired by the bold and unapologetic attitude of Manchester, DMA’s interiors team have sought to create a space which is impactful upon entry.

Open plan public spaces create a sense of wonder and play through wall graphics, pop colours and eclectic pieces of furniture, while industrial joinery and feature pendant lights anchor the space to the interiors concept.

RICHMOND HILL HOTEL

Situated within the Richmond Hill Conservation area, the main hotel building is an impressive Grade II listed Georgian manor.

We were appointed to refurbish and redesign the guestrooms, maximising the spectacular views across Richmond Royal Park.

The design approach takes inspiration from the hotel’s key aim: allowing guests to ‘experience the countryside come to life in the city’.

MARRIOTT KENSINGTON

Refurbishment of an existing hotel featuring a new entrance atrium, at the time the tallest hanging glass facade in Europe.

TOWER BRIDGE MAGISTRATES’ COURT

Situated between Tooley Street & Queen Elizabeth Street within the Tower Bridge Conservation Area.

This project sees the conversion of the Grade II listed 1906 John Dixon Butler police station & magistrates’ court into a luxury hotel with the addition of a newbuild extension to the rear.

THE WESTINHOTEL & APARTMENTS CITY OF LONDON

Located on the north bank of the River thames, this project redevelops the historic Queensbridge House into a new 224 bedroom luxury hotel and nine apartments.

THE CURTAIN SHOREDITCH

We are working with Gansevoort Hotel Group to realise their first European development in Shoreditch. The 120 bedroom hotel & members club will feature seven suites, a restaurant, bar, rooftop pool and terrace, fitness centre and over 6,000 square feet of event space.

ALOFT & ELEMENT TOBACCO DOCK

Designed with a warehouse aesthetic, this hotel and apart-hotel will include a destination bar, restaurant, cafe and new piazza.

DORSETT CITY LONDON

As part of a development set to improve St Botolph’s Row, the hotel will feature a multi-layered façade of glass and metal and accommodate 270 rooms, a restaurant, bar and business hub.

ADAGIO APARTHOTEL ALDGATE

The 217 apartment Adagio London Aldgate on Whitechapel Road will see the existing redundant office building transformed into a design-led ‘extended stay’ hotel.

Creating a beach front destination which emulates the form of a luxury cruise liner.

MONTE BAYMONTENEGRO

HELIOS RESORTCROATIA

Set amidst majestic pine forests, our proposal for this project seeks to create a sense of balance and harmony between the built form and nature.

HELIOS RESORTCROATIA

SUNRISE HILLS LUXURY HOTELABUJA

Our competition winning design for this new luxury hotel resort in Abuja responds to the sites natural topography.

MPAKA ROADNAIROBI

Located in the north west district of central Nairobi this contemporary development features 40 serviced apartments, a 120 room business hotel, leisure facilities including a pool, a club, shopping mall and restaurants, as well as a 250 space car park.

GOLF PARK HOTELDAR ES SALAAM

A new 180 bedroom upscale city business hotel development will benefit from views across Dar es Salaam Bay.

TSOGO SUN HOTEL COMPLEX CAPE TOWN

Situated in a prime location between the famous Lions Head and Table Mountains. This 500 bedroom dual brand hotel also includes a rooftop pool.

HILTON TUSHINO Our concept design for Hilton Tushino makes use of a diamond effect pattern on the facade to create a visual reference with the new FC Spartak Otkrytie Arena in Moscow.
