Where is your Treasure?¿Donde esta tu Tesoro?Dear People and Friends of San Juan Bautista,
As we continue this week inthe School of Jesus, we strive tolearn more fully and live morefaithfully the lessons the Lordteaches us. Today’s lessonchallenges us to examine ourpriorities, as the Lordsummarizes: “For where yourtreasure is, there also will yourheart be.” Another way of sayingthis is “For what are you workingand living?”
As Jesus reminds his disciples of the need for constantpreparedness for the coming of the Son of Man, he showsus that this can only be accomplished if we first andforemost are seeking the Kingdom of God. If we lose thefocus on the Kingdom, other distractions will take us far offcourse, and we can easily forget for whom and for what weare made.
The Letter to the Hebrews reminds us that Faith is whatenables us to keep the focus.
All these died in faith. They did not receive whathad been promised but saw it and greeted it from afarand acknowledged themselves to be strangers andaliens on earth, for those who speak thus show thatthey are seeking a homeland. If they had been thinkingof the land from which they had come, they would havehad opportunity to return. But now they desire a betterhomeland, a heavenly one.
Our faith in Jesus, that leads us to the Father, keeps ourpriorities always focused on that heavenly homeland, whilewe live in this world, striving to make the Kingdom morepresent here.
How do we nurture that Faith and remained always ready? By cultivating our relationship with the Lord as his
disciples through the Sacraments received regularly,
By being faithfully committed to Sunday Mass as thestarting point of each week,
By reading and understanding God’s Word as the roadmap not only to heaven, but to heavenly living on earth
By being dedicated to Daily Prayer,
By fostering friendships with others who are focused onthe Kingdom, especially in the parish.
THANK YOU again, to ALL who labored so diligentlyfor our 36th Annual Hispanic Festival! When the Lord andHis Kingdom are truly our first and primary Treasure, wesee our Festival and its success as Tremendous ways ofbuilding the Kingdom. May the fruit of our efforts bearmuch fruit!

Estimados hermanos y amigos de San Juan Bautista,
Mientras continuamos esta semana en laescuela de Jesús, nos esforzamos por aprendercon más plenitud y vivir con mayor fidelidadlas enseñanzas del Señor. La lección de hoynos invita a examinar nuestras prioridades,como el Señor lo resume: “Porque donde estévuestro tesoro, allí estará también tucorazón”. Otra forma de decirlo, es “¿Paraqué estás trabajando y viviendo?”
Así como Jesús recuerda a sus discípulosla necesidad constante de estar preparadospara la venida del Hijo del Hombre, nosmuestra que esto sólo lo podremos lograr si, ante todo,buscamos el Reino de Dios. Si perdemos nuestraconcentración en el Reino, otras distracciones nos llevaránlejos de su curso, y fácilmente podemos olvidar para quiény para qué estamos hechos.
La carta a los Hebreos nos recuerda que la fe es lo que nospermite mantener nuestra concentración.
Todos ellos murieron firmes en la fe. Noalcanzaron los bienes prometidos, pero los vieron y lossaludaron con gozo desde lejos. Ellos reconocieronque eran extraños y peregrinos en la tierra. Los queasí hablan, claramente dan a entender que van enbusca de una patria, pues, si pensaban en la quehabían abandonado, podían volver a ella. Por elcontrario, aspiraban a una mejor, a la celestial.
Nuestra fe en Jesús, que nos conduce al Padre,mantiene nuestras prioridades siempre centradas en lapatria celestial, mientras vivamos en este mundo,esforzándonos por hacer presente el Reino aquí en la tierra.
¿Cómo cultivamos esa Fe y como mantenernos siemprelistos?
Cultivando nuestra relación con el Señor comodiscípulos suyos por medio de los Sacramentosrecibiéndolos regularmente.
Comprometiéndonos fielmente de asistir a la misadominical como punto de partida cada semana.
Leyendo y entendiendo la Palabra de Dios como guíano solamente al cielo, sino a la vida celestial en latierra.
Estar dedicados a la oración diaria. Fomentando amistades con otras personas que se
centran en el Reino, especialmente en la parroquia.
GRACIAS una vez más, a todos los que trabajaron tandiligentemente en nuestro Festival Anual 36º Hispano!Cuando el Señor y Su Reino son verdaderamente nuestroprimer y principal Tesoro, vemos nuestro Festival y suéxito como formas tremendas de construir el Reino. Que elfruto de nuestros esfuerzos continue dando mas frutos!

El Bautismo debe celebrarsedentro de las primera semanas del nacimiento de su bebé.Para preparar a los padres y padrinos, la parroquia provee2 clases separadas. Estas clases pueden ser tomadas,incluso antes de que nazca el bebé. La próxima clase paraPadres y Padrinos será el sábado 24 de Agosto. Paramas información y registración pase por la oficinaparroquial durante la semana.
Please remember that the most important gift you can giveyour child after the gift of life is the gift of God's love and gracein the Sacrament of Baptism. Please do not wait months or ayear or two to baptize your child. Baptism should be celebratedwithin weeks of your baby's birth. To prepare parents andgodparents, the parish provides 2 separate classes. The nextclass Session II will be August 24th. These classes may beattended even before the baby is born. For registration or moreinformation visit the office during the week.
