Saurashtra University, established on23rd May, 1967, is situated in Rajkot city of the

Saurashtra region of Gujarat State. The campus of the university is spread over 363 acres

of land. The jurisdiction of the university includes Amreli, Jamnagar, Junagadh,

Porbandar, Rajkot, Surendar Nagar districts. It has 29 post Graduate Departments on its

campus and 298 affiliated colleges.In the last five years, the university has made unique strides in the following areasŸ The Sarurashtra University took the initiative to implement choice based credit

system within the state of Gujarat for the first time. Now we have choice based

credit system (CBCS) both for U.G. and P.G. for all the faculties.Ÿ The Saurashtra university is applying again for reaccreditation in Feb.2014Ÿ The NAAC has reaccredited the university as Grade 'A' with the CGPA 3.05 .Ÿ The university has a network of more than 298 affiliated colleges, and 29 P.G.

Departments on the campus to cater growing needs of higher education.Ÿ The university officers a range of total of 238 programmers comprising 39 U.G.,

32 P.G., 14 M.Phil. 35 Ph.D., 20 PG Diploma, 63 Diploma,21 Certificate and 14

other miscellaneous Programs.Ÿ The university has introduced 17 new courses and started two new P.G.

Departments in the last four years to meet challenges of widening employment

opportunities.Ÿ The University undertook major revision of syllabi of 50 programmes in the last

five years to keep pace with the changing scenario of knowledge and employment

ABOUT UNIVERSITY


Ÿ The P.G. Departments on the campus and U.G. Departments at college have switched

over from 'annual' to 'semester' system with choice based credit system for the last five

years.Ÿ The university has undergone good number of National and International

collaborations in research and teaching e.g. Griffith University, Australia and

California State University, Long Beach (USA), particularly to encourage students

and teachers exchange program.Ÿ The university addresses the question of equity by implementing the statutory

reservation policy of the state and the UGC for SC, ST, OBCS, physically challenged,

single girl-child household, etc. at the entry level of admissions in the UG and PG

programmes of the University. Also, the university has implemented 'Earn while

Learn' scheme for helping the needy students for the last six years.Ÿ Through its career counselling and development Centre (CCDC) and institution

Industry Interaction cell (IIIC), the issues of placement and career guidance is well

taken care of.Ÿ International Accreditation Organization (IAO) has accredited the Saurashtra

University in 2013.Ÿ The university has been trying to reach the global students through International

Students Admission Cell and ICCR.Ÿ The university has established Vidushi (The Centre for Women's Studies and

Research) on the campus with the core aim of undertaking and supporting academic

and social initiatives responsible for upgrading the social and economic status of

women in this region.Ÿ The University has established 'optical fibre' campus-wide network and installed 512

KBPS bandwidth through VSAT and 2 MBPS bandwidth leased line from ERNET,

planned with the approval of the UGC and the state government, the Department was

Department's modern classrooms are having state of the art infrastructure

facilities. They also naturally lighted and large airy class room with a structure having

high ceilings and large corridors are designed to promote maximum interaction between

the faculty and students. The a/c classrooms is well equipped with computer, multimedia

and LAN connectivity both the theme style and classic classroom are furnished with

specially designed desk for the comforts of students.Study material

The department provides all necessary material to all students free of cost. It also

provides bibliography of reference material to all the students.

ABOUT DEPARTMENT


Computer LaboratoryIn today's modern era one needs to be technically advanced. Computer skills are one of

the most unignorably aspects in any chosen field. Department has a well-established and

well equipped central computing facility housed in two computer labs which is accessible

to students on flash of their ID card. Apart from a host of routine and special software

which the computer labs have the latest operating systems such as windows 2008 server

and windows 2007 professional OS at the client level. All PCs are Pentium based with

24*7 hours internet access.

LibraryDepartment of Business Management has big library, on first floor which is stacked with

books on a wide range of management subject. The collection in the library is constantly

enriched with books beyond those prescribed by the syllabus. The library is subscribed to

national and international journals in the print format. Also audio and video cassettes and

CD-ROM are available for reference study. The library is also equipped with past exam

papers, project reports, and others reference materials

HostelThe University has an aesthetically built modern hostel to facilitate its students. To cater

to the growing demand of hostel accommodation, it is providing separate residences for

men and women both hostels are well furnished, have 24*7 security arrangements.

Students desirous of staying in the hostel are required to reserve the seats at the time of

application for admission. Preference is given to outstation students.
