0- Intro: My placement- context is half of the work:

For my work placement I was based with Nicola - New International Company With Live Arts. This is a charity run company that organises workshops and fun creative activities for young people. Nicola has more and more teenagers joining them everyday.Parents have long working hours, so many times children instead of going home, or hang-ing with their friends outside at night, end up at Nicola. For many, Nicola is like a second home.

My whole work, was directed for the end party Nicola was organizing. The theme of the party and most of its acts was to promote arts and awareness to “end gang violence”. My job in all this, was to take photographs of the different workshops that were done and in the end of each one, take individual portraits of all the participants. I aranged an origi-nal way to display the photographs using iMovie and a projector, where they were project-ed in one of the singing acts at the party.

Nicola gave me a lot of understanding of what a job in the “out-side world” is about. The amount of organisation that is necessary to get everything done in time for the party; and the fact I was a part of something bigger then myself, (people are depending on our work) made me want to do evberything even better. I made myself available for whatever Michela might have needed help with. This experince was challenging, as I broke my elbow half way through, so taking photographs and work-ing in general was not the easiest, but most of all it was very exciting and awakening.

While working at Nicola, I had the opportunity to work with different people, making me feel more confortable photographing all the dancers and singers rehersing their acts for the show.As a photographer I learned that before aproching each of the performers, I would stand at a dis-tance, where i could abserve their personality and think of ways to make the subject feel the most confortable as possible once infront of the camera., as this can be quite an intimate moment. I really enjoyed meeting and working with everyone, hey all had something diferent to show and share with me and the camera.

Oneofthemostchallengingpartsofmyjobplacementewastokeepupandbeorganizedwiththe chaotic speed at what everything needed to be done and ready for the final event.

With this job placement i used a veriety of diferent skylls ; such as learning how to use an enour-mos projector, on the day of the party I projected my work on the a big cloth while two tennerg-ers sang, and also had to project different kind of photographs throgh out all the acts. To take most of the portraits I used a 50mm lense and a specific flash that helped hightlight their face in the darkest scenes.

The social media I choose to communicate my woprk is Twitter. This not only keept me in contact with other colegues working at Nicola, but also it keept me informed of what everyone is doing at their work placements and keept me in close contact with my tutor. In my opinion it was very useful and easy to interact with. Some of the images I took were also uploaded on Twitpic.
