Nuclear Reactor Desalination Systems (Research Project)

STF and Chaotic Systems (MS work)

Mutual research projects: I am also engaged with some research groups such as remote handling groups EAMA (EAST Articulated Maintenance Arm) with a gripper, storage cask system for EAST Articulated Inspection Arm (AIA), Design of the CFETR Toroidal Field Superconducting Coils and Central Solenoid groups,3D displacement of EAST cold magnets group, fabrication and analyzing of Bi-2223/Ag jointed tape group.

Theoretical and computational models of Halo current and plasma dynamical behavior (PhD work) A new innovative computational model have been developed, which gives the interaction forces of halo current, vertical/radial plasma dynamical behavior (linear and nonlinear), 3D plasma shape, 3D plasma energy and Halo current. All developed models have verified by experimental data from EAST Tokamak. This work attains novelty as no theoretical calculations for halo current has been reported so far. The main objective of the research is to establish theoretical relation with experimental results so as to precautionary evaluating the plasma behavior in any Tokamak. The research also executed for plasma disruption conditions followed by downward vertical displacement. The aim of the research is to developed theoretical-computational model in order to investigate the dynamical behavior of plasma under disruption conditions.

Theoretical-computational calculation of plasma SOL (PhD work)

In EAST Tokamak, we are using SOLPS code for the simulation of SOL. Recently, I have done work in SOLPS code and modified for the uses of complexity of problems. Regarding the derivation of SDPUS-C1 scheme, total variation diminishing (TVD) and convection Boundness criterion (CBC) have been employed for stability of the solution method. The Development of continuously differentiable up-wind scheme is equally applicable to both steady and unsteady state calculations of conservation equations, which is the prime motivation of this research work. The aim of the present and future research work is to develop a new code by using numerical scheme that can deal individual SOL problems. For this purpose, new techniques will apply to a new bounded high-resolution polynomial upwind approximation, called Six-Degree Polynomial Upwind Scheme of C1 class (SDPUS-C1), for convection term discretization. The focus of the research is to examine the utility and effectiveness of this proposed scheme for simulating incompressible moving free surface flows. Strategy and general purpose of the research depends on strong mathematical background such as numerical schemes and coding techniques for hyperbolic conservation law especially nonlinear multi-dimensional MHD equations, Finite volume method (2nd order classical schemes on structural mesh), Advection equation (1D/2D), Burger’s equations (for discontinuities- capturing), Euler equations (1D/2D), Ideal MHD (1D/2D) and then Discretization of second order terms (models with diffusion). Numerically study the microscopic (nonlinear) MHD modes for Tokamak geometry is the objective of this research. Development of code depends on two numerical techniques; C++ (for code developing), Matlab (for visualization).

Safety Assessment of Fission and Fusion reactor system (MS & PhD work)

The research is focused on the thermal behavior of different parameters of Tokamak reactor including reactor power, pressure and mass flow rate conditions. The safety assessment was done by analyzing different parameters of the reactor, which are being affected during disruption. The analysis was done by well know thermal hydraulic codes i.e., Theatre and Relap5. The listed parameters were calculated and analyzed for the safety aspects of the reactor. The main objective of the research was to analyze the blanket system of Tokamak reactor for safety concerned during disruption. The selected parameters exactly give the safety of the Tokamak reactor system during the disruption conditions. The results obtained from these parameters gives an indication to figure out the safety performance of the CFETR. Safety of the reactor was done by doing research on the coupling between neutron kinetics and thermal hydraulic. This technique incorporates to simulate transient, which involves symmetric core spatial power distribution and strong feedback effects between neutronics and thermal hydraulic. It deals with reactivity-initiated accidents under local core effects, coupled reactor core and plant dynamic interactions. The postulated accident, which was simulated, includes control rod withdrawal accidents and loss of flow accident, because during the accidents, deformation in the radial and axial power distribution may occur in core. The work has been published in reputed journal and conferences.

Theoretical and computational analysis of coupled nuclear reactor desalination system (MS & PhD Work)

The research has been conducted on the floating type nuclear power plant named as ABV reactor designed for heat, power and seawater desalination system by OKBM, Russia. Theoretical calculations as well as simulation studies have been performed on these three modules with specifications as ABV-6M with 47MWth, ABV-6 with 38MWth, and ABV-3 with 18MWth. The results obtained from these modules have been calculated mathematically and verified by simulation. We compared the originally derived data for ABV desalination system with our theoretical and simulation analysis. The results from two desalination techniques including RO and RO+MED have been analyzed. The results obtained from both techniques shows that the efficiency of ABV reactor desalination system is increases and the corresponding water cost ratio decreases. Further work on SMART and CAREM reactor has been done as well with different options for acquiring nuclear desalination across MENA region.

Complex Singularity of Stretch-Twist-Fold flow (MS Work) The distinction between slow and fast dynamos was first drawn by Vainshtein & Zeldovich (1972) in this research; we describe the stretch-twist-fold (STF) fast dynamo, which is the archetype of the elementary models of the process. Basically, stretch-twist-fold is applied in fluid mechanics in aerospace. In space, any fluid can be de tracked easily so a magnetic field is required to compel the fluid to be in the same orbit and this method is called STF system. Good number of task has been done such as Lyapunov exponents, Poincare mapping, fractal dimension and chaotic behavior of this system. Furthermore, investigated an external force that is applied on Stretch-Twist-Fold Flow and analyze the behavior of control parameter with theoretical details. A computer based Matlab code has been developed in order to solve the STF system. Stable and unstable position of the system has been analyzed graphically and finally a comparison as well as accuracy between two-step sizes with detail. Newton’s method has been applied to show the best convergence of this system.
