The teams are meeting in the back end of a home-and-home series, after the Dynamo won 2-0 on Aug. 3 at BBVA Compass Stadium behind goals from Jermaine Taylor and Calen Carr.
The Dynamo victory snapped a 10-game winless streak against New York, since a 1-0 win May 31, 2008. The Red Bulls had won four of the 10 league and MLS Cup meetings in between, with six draws.
A Kenny Cooper goal gave the Red Bulls a 1-0 victory May 9 at Red Bull Arena. The Dynamo have never won at New York, with four losses and four draws in eight league and MLS Cup meetings all-time.

The Dynamo took the lead after just two minutes. Brad Davis delivered a free kick to the back post, and after some pinging around the box, Andre Hainault fired a shot across the front of the goal and Jermaine Taylor met the ball with his knee at the right post, knocking it across the goal line.
Houston doubled the lead in the 28th minute. Macoumba Kandji hit a beautiful swerving ball to the back post, where Calen Carr skied over a defender to park a header just inside the far post.

NEW YORK RED BULLS The New York Red Bulls lost for a second game on the trot in the defeat in Houston. The Red Bulls now sit in third place in the Eastern Conference, with 38 points from 23 games. TEAM NEWS
Red Bulls head coach Hans Backe made three changes that fell 3-1 to the Montréal Impact at Stade Saputo. Tim Cahill made his Red Bulls debut, coming into the team with Teemu Tainio and Heath Pearce, in place of Joel Lindpere, Dax McCarty and Kenny Cooper.
The Red Bulls have lost back-to-back games for the first time this season since opening the campaign with defeats at FC Dallas and Real Salt Lake.
“Defending-wise, we were all over the place with no attacking game, too many unforced errors. We couldn’t really create anything over 90 minutes,” said Backe. “ … We have to definitely look at the video and go through our defending game and our attacking game because we need to do something to match them.”
Tim Cahill made his Red Bulls and MLS debut, playing 90 minutes in the center of the park. “That wasn’t the plan. When we were doing these subs, we were thinking of doing 60 minutes and then taking him out,” said Backe. “He is a hard worker with a phenomenal attitude and spirit. It was the only choice but he didn’t pick up any injuries, so that’s good.”
Said Cahill: “I trained once with this team and then play the whole 90 minutes; it’s pretty full on. I think that this is what is going to be expected with MLS. I keep trying to prepare myself to go again because there are a few injuries and as you’ve seen tonight, I think lads went off and there were already three subs made.”
Teemu Tainio also made his first appearance in the Red Bulls lineup since March 31, when he played the second half as a substitute vs. Montréal. It was his first start since the second match of the season.
With Cahill and Tainio installed in central midfield, there was no room for Joel Lindpere – who Backe says will have to feature in a wide role in the team.
“It doesn’t work centrally. He’s more of a wide player who can tuck in in the attacking game. He’s not a guy who wins 50-50 [balls] and put pressure on midfield,” said Backe. “He’s a guy who needs time and space on the ball and then create for crosses and one-twos and things like that.”
Said Lindpere: “That makes the team stronger when you have competition. I think [Jan Gunnar] Solli played a couple games [at left mid]; five, six games he played there then Connor Lade played a couple games and when you see the team get stronger, we get new players in and everybody gets healthy, that makes it more difficult for every player and maybe also for the coach. Now it’s easy, when you don’t get a result you can switch and that should be the quality of a strong team. When something doesn’t work out, you can put it another way.”
Heath Pearce returned to the starting lineup for the first time in six games, since he was late substitution because of injury in the June 30 game at Toronto FC.
Wilman Conde made his fourth consecutive start, but asked to come off after 70 minutes. He was not able to take part in full training in the week leading up to the return match in New York.
“I’m not sure if he wanted to switch,” said Backe. “I wonder if it’s a groin injury or something like that, or perhaps he felt it. I don’t think he got injured, but he wanted to go out.”
After playing Kenny Cooper alongside Thierry Henry as the strike partnership for two consecutive matches, Sebastien Le Toux was given the start up top alongside Henry.
“It’s still building. It’s my first game playing up top with him. We are still trying to find each other and build chemistry but it takes time,”said Le Toux. “It’s just my second week with the team and I hope it keeps getting better and better.”
HOUSTON DYNAMO The Houston Dynamo recorded a fifth consecutive victory in the win against the Red Bulls, and extended their home unbeaten streak in the process. The Dynamo moved into a tie for first place in the Eastern Conference with 40 points from 23 games. TEAM NEWS
Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear made two changes to the team that came away with a 2-0 win against Toronto FC at BMO Field. Jermaine Taylor and Will Bruin came back into the team, in place of Warren Creavalle and Brian Ching.
The victory was the Dynamo’s fifth in a row, matching their club record, and their eighth consecutive game overall without a loss.
“It’s always big when you score first, whether it’s in the first minute or the 80th minute,” said Kinnear. “When you score first it gives you confidence. It gave us a lot of energy and brought the crowd into it right away. I think it gave the guys a lot of confidence and uplifted them physically and mentally.”
Houston is still undefeated in league play at their new BBVA Compass Stadium, having gone unbeaten in 11 games. Their overall home undefeated streak is now at 19 games dating back to last season, the third-longest in MLS history.

“This is probably the hardest place in the league to give up a goal early because it’s so hot out there and guys die,” Houston defender Bobby Boswell said. “For us to get out there and get it done, [Kinnear] called us out on that the last couple of games and we’ve responded pretty well. We’re being stingy with the goals and it helps to get an early one.”
Calen Carr scored his fourth goal in the last four games, all since returning to the starting lineup for the first time since June 16.
“Once you get one goal it’s always easier to get the next. I think that has been part of it,” Carr said. “Another thing is just playing with these guys. We have a lot of great players on this team, especially now with Boniek Garcia drawing a lot of attention. Everything is clicking for us right now as a team, which is the most important thing.”
Said Kinnear: “He is good in the air. He has good timing. We said we missed him when he was injured for that month or so. We missed his versatility and his overall play. He is coming into good form. He is feeling confident attacking the ball and it was a great goal for him.”
Mac Kandji added his first assist of the season; he has two goals and one assist in the seven games since Kinnear installed a 4-3-3 tactical scheme.
“In the 4-3-3, there’s more space and teams have to compensate for the middle, which creates a gap for me and can create a two-on-one with Mac [Kandji] and I against a defender,” left back Corey Ashe said. “Finding Mac, his movement is great moving up and down the line and I’m starting to build a good relationship with him.”
The Dynamo extended their current shutout streak to 320 minutes with the victory. They had a 356-minute streak snapped on July 18. They have recorded clean sheets in six of their last seven games, allowing just a single goal (the July 18 2-1 win vs. KC) since the start of July.
“When I look back on it, I don’t think there are going to be brighter moments in my career than what I have had with this team,” said goalkeeper Tally Hall. “It’s just been a great two-thirds of the season and the most important third is ahead of us. We have a great base with how we are doing things and we just need to keep building from there.”

BULLETIN BOARD RED BULLS HOST DYNAMO FRIDAY, LOOK TO ERASE LAST FRIDAY’S LOSS IN HOUSTON After falling 2-0 to the Houston Dynamo on Friday, the Red Bulls hope to exact revenge as the teams battle for the second time in seven days when New York hosts the Texas side at Red Bull Arena at 8:00 PM ET (TV: NBC Sports Network; Radio: 93.1 FM). On Friday in the second of three meetings between the two sides this year, the Dynamo moved into a tie for first place in the Eastern Conference on the strength of a 2-0 victory over New York at BBVA Compass Stadium. The loss dropped the Red Bulls to 11-7-5, 38 points on the season, with Houston moving to 11-5-7 and 40 points. With Sporting Kansas City’s victory over the New England Revolution on the weekend, the Red Bulls are currently in sole possession of third place in the Eastern Conference, but are just two points shy of Houston and Sporting (12-7-4, 40 points) for the top spot. The Red Bulls and Houston first played this season on May 9 at Red Bull Arena, with New York shutting out the Dynamo 1-0 on Kenny Cooper’s seventh minute goal. Both the Red Bulls and Dynamo are unbeaten at home this season, with New York posting a 7-0-3 record in Harrison this season, while Houston moved to 8-0-3 at home with their win over New York on Friday. All-time vs. Houston, New York is 4-3-7. RED BULLS-DYNAMO CONNECTIONS Dynamo forward Macoumba Kandji was a member of the Red Bulls from 2008-2010. New York signed Kandji during the 2008 season on loan from the Atlanta Silverbacks of the then-USL First Division, and he eventually joined the club permanently. In 41 matches with New York, Kandji started 30, scoring six goals and registering seven assists. On Sept. 14, 2010, the team sent Kandji to the Colorado Rapids in exchange for midfielder Mehdi Ballouchy. RED BULLS FALL IN HOUSTON, 2-0 The New York Red Bulls dropped a 2-0 decision to the Houston Dynamo at BBVA Compass Stadium Friday night. The Dynamo took the lead in the second minute. A Brad Davis free kick fell in the box to forward Macoumba Kandji, whose shot was blocked by a diving Bill Gaudette. Andre Hainault was first to the rebound on the left wing and hit a pass across the six-yard box that Gaudette deflected and was kneed in from close range at the back post by Houston’s Jermaine Taylor. In the 28th minute, the hosts doubled their lead. Kandji had the ball on the left wing and swung a cross into the box that was headed into the back of the net by Calen Carr. The Red Bulls looked to get back into the game in the second half. In the 59th minute, Thierry Henry laid it off to Sebastien Le Toux at the top of the box and the Frenchman smacked it well high with his left foot. Five minutes later, Tim Cahill, making his MLS regular season debut, got his head to a Henry corner kick and nodded it just past the right post. CAHILL MAKES MLS DEBUT The Red Bulls’ newest Designated Player, Australian International Tim Cahill, made his MLS debut on Friday in the club’s 2-0 loss at Houston. The former Everton and Millwall midfielder started the match and played all 90 minutes, registering two shots. Cahill made his first overall appearance in a New York kit last Tuesday when New York hosted Tottenham Hotspur FC at Red Bull Arena. MCCARTY MISSES FIRST MATCH Due to yellow card accumulation, Red Bulls midfielder Dax McCarty missed the Red Bulls’ 2-0 loss at Houston on Friday. McCarty had started all of the club’s first 22 matches of the 2012 season up until Friday, logging 1,974 out of a possible 1,980 minutes. McCarty has registered two goals and one assist this season. Joel Lindpere and Kenny Cooper are the only two New York players who have featured in every regular season match.
HOME SWEET HOME The Red Bulls remain one of two teams in MLS this season that are unbeaten at home. New York has posted a 7-0-3 record at Red Bull Arena; back-to-back opponent Houston Dynamo is the other club unbeaten at home, upping their record to 8-0-3 at BBVA Compass Stadium with their 2-0 win over New York on Friday. RED BULLS SIGN TIM CAHILL AS DESIGNATED PLAYER The New York Red Bulls announced July 26 that it has signed midfielder Tim Cahill as a Designated Player. Per MLS and club regulations, specific terms of the deal were not disclosed. Cahill made his team debut on Tuesday in New York’s 2-1 loss to English side Tottenham Hotspur, as Cahill started and played the first half. Cahill, a player who has featured as an attacking midfielder and forward during his career, comes to New York after an illustrious career with English Premier League side, Everton FC, where he had played since 2004. He had made 278 appearances for the Toffees, scoring 68 goals over eight seasons with the club. The Australian was Everton’s leading scorer in his first year with the team and was named Player of the Season. Cahill was also the club’s leading scorer with nine goals in the 2008/09 campaign and served as team captain for part of the 2009/10 season. The 32-year-old became the 71st player in Premier League history to reach the 50 goal milestone when he scored against Blackpool in Nov. 6 2010. Last season, Cahill featured in 41 games, tallying three goals in all competitions. In October 2006, Cahill was named as one of 50 nominees for the Ballon D’Or, given to the European Football of the Year. Prior to joining Everton, Cahill featured for English side, Millwall, where he made a total of 249 appearances and scored 56 goals. Cahill was part of the side that went the FA Cup Final for the first time in club history in the 2003-04 season and earned a spot in the UEFA Cup. He helped his side earn promotion to the English First Division after it finished first in the 2000-01 campaign. Cahill joined MIllwall from Sydney United. On the international level, Cahill featured in the 2006 and 2010 World Cups as a member of the Australian National Team. He was the first Australian to score a World Cup goal in 2006, when he found the back of the net against Japan, and helped his country earn a spot in the Round of 16. He has earned a total of 55 caps for Australia, amassing 24 goals – three of which came in the two World Cups he played in. RED BULLS ACQUIRE DRAFT CHOICE, INT’L SPOT FOR BALLOUCHY The New York Red Bulls announced July 30 that it acquired a 2013 international spot and a 2013 conditional draft pick from the San Jose Earthquakes in exchange for midfielder Mehdi Ballouchy. “We want to thank Mehdi for his service to the Red Bulls,” New York Red Bulls General Manager and Sporting Director Erik Soler said. “It was a difficult decision to let Mehdi go. However, trading him provides us additional roster and financial flexibility moving forward.” Ballouchy was in the midst of his second full season with the Red Bulls. He was acquired from the Colorado Rapids on Sept. 14, 2010 in exchange for forward Macoumba Kandji. This season, Ballouchy made 16 appearances and 10 starts, recording one goal and two assists. He made 51 total appearances during his time in New York. RED BULLS WAIVE MADURO The New York Red Bulls announced July 28 that it waived midfielder Ryan Maduro. Maduro signed with the Red Bulls on March 19. The former Providence College product made his New York debut on May 29 against the Charleston Battery in U.S. Open Cup play, but had not featured in a MLS game. HENRY GETS 11TH Thierry Henry scored the Red Bulls’ lone goal in their 3-1 loss at Montreal on July 28. The goal was his 11th of the season, which is second best on the team
NEW YORK RED BULLS VS HOUSTON DYNAMO – AUGUST 10, 2012 – 8:00 PM ET behind Kenny Cooper (13). Henry is fourth in MLS in goals and also leads the club with six assists. PAIR OF FIFTHS Red Bulls midfielder Joel Lindpere and defender Roy Miller both earned assists on Thierry Henry’s goal in the Red Bulls’ 3-1 loss at Montreal on July 28. For both men, it was their fifth assist of the season, which puts them in a tie for second on the team behind Henry, who has six. Lindpere also has three goals in 23 appearances this year, while Miller has played in 20 games. SUPER COOPER Red Bulls forward and leading scorer Kenny Cooper snapped a seven match scoring drought with a bang on July 21 against the Philadelphia Union, scoring both New York goals in a 2-0 victory. It was Cooper’s third multi-goal game of the season as he also found the back of the net twice on March 25 vs. Colorado and April 7 at Columbus. The forward now has 13 goals on the season, which is tied for second in Major League Soccer, four behind league leader Chris Wondolowski of the San Jose Earthquakes. ASSIST-LADEN PERFORMANCE Red Bulls rookie defender/midfielder Connor Lade turned in a sparkling performance on July 21 against the Philadelphia Union, earning assists on both of Kenny Cooper’s goals as New York won 2-0. Lade has appeared in 16 matches this season, starting 13 times and has three assists. The Red Bulls Academy product and former St. John’s University standout has become a fixture in the lineup, starting eight out of the club’s last nine matches, and appeared in 11 straight overall. DROUGHT OVER New York captain and forward Thierry Henry scored the game-winner on July 18 in the Red Bulls’ 1-0 victory over the Chicago Fire. It was the Frenchman’s first goal since April 28, also a 1-0 home victory for New York over the New England Revolution. Henry had gone four matches without a goal or assist. He picked up his team leading sixth assist of the season on July 21 in the Red Bulls’ 2-0 victory over Philadelphia, setting up Kenny Cooper’s second goal of the match. BORRAJO DEBUT Red Bulls defender Jonathan Borrajo made his MLS debut on July 21 against Philadelphia, replacing the injured Brandon Barklage in the 16th minute. The Red Bulls signed the Clifton, NJ native this offseason after he spent two seasons with Norwegian club Hamarkameratene. Barklage left the game with a hamstring injury. SCORING FIRST The Red Bulls’ 2-0 victory on July 21 vs. Philadelphia extended the team’s unbeaten streak under head coach Hans Backe in regular season games where the team scores first. In those games, New York is 32-0-11, including an 8-0-2 mark this year. TWO FOR TOUX Red Bulls forward Sebastien Le Toux contributed two goals in his first two games with the club after being acquired from Vancouver Whitecaps FC on July 13. Le Toux assisted on Thierry Henry’s game winning goal in the team’s July 18 victory against the Chicago Fire, and scored just 24 minutes into his Red Bulls’ tenure last Sunday against Seattle Sounders, a match that ended in a 2-2 draw. HENRY TALLIES ASSIST AS ALL-STARS BEAT CHELSEA, 3-2 Red Bulls forward Thierry Henry assisted on Chris Wondolowski’s opening goal in the MLS All-Star Team’s 3-2 win over reigning UEFA Champions League winner, Chelsea FC, July 25 at PPL Park. Henry, who was voted to the MLS First XI, received the ball from Landon Donovan on the left wing and hit a first-time cross that San Jose’s Wondolowski got to and slotted into the back of the net. In his second All-Star Game appearance, Henry started and played 57 minutes before being replaced by Sporting Kansas City’s Graham Zusi. Red Bulls defender Heath Pearce was also named to the MLS First XI but was replaced by San Jose’s Justin Morrow on the squad due to his right hamstring strain.
RED BULLS ACQUIRE SEBASTIEN LE TOUX The New York Red Bulls announced on July 13 that it acquired forward and 2010 MLS Best XI selection Sébastien Le Toux in exchange for midfielder Dane Richards and allocation money.. Le Toux, 28, was in the midst of his first season with Vancouver, where he tallied four goals and one assist in 19 appearances. The Frenchman joined the Whitecaps on Jan. 31, 2012 from the Philadelphia Union in exchange for allocation money. Le Toux had a pair of standout seasons with the Union, recording 25 goals and 20 assists in 62 regular season starts. He led Philadelphia in both goals and assists in 2010 and 2011 and helped his club reach the MLS Cup Playoffs for the first time ever last year. Le Toux, who was named to the 2010 MLS All-Star Team and was a MLS Best XI selection following a 14-goal season, also won the 2010 and 2011 MLS Fair Play Award and scored once in the Union’s 2011 postseason run. Le Toux’s MLS career began in 2009 with Seattle Sounders FC, when he became the club’s first-ever signing on May 8, 2008. He featured in 28 games, starting 15, and notched one goal and three assists. He was also with Seattle from 2008-09 while it played in the United Soccer Leagues First Division (USL-1). Le Toux earned a spot on the USL-1 Second Team after racking up 14 goals, which was good for second in the League. The 2008 campaign followed up his first year in the United States, when he won the USL-1 Most Valuable Player of the Year, tallying 10 goals, and helping the Sounders win the Commissioner’s Cup (regular season winner) and USL-1 Championship (playoffs winner). Before coming to North America, Le Toux was with FC Lorient-Bretagne Sud in France’s Ligue 2 from 2004-06. The club earned promotion to Ligue 1 in 2006. Le Toux was a member of the Stade Rennais FC youth program. Richards was drafted out of Clemson University by New York in the second round (19th overall) in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft. He made his 147th regular season appearance for the club last Sunday at New England, which put him in second place all-time in franchise history. Richards is also second in games started for the club (132) and minutes played (11,699), trailing only Petke (158, 14,060). He is also third in assists (26). This year, Richards had one goal and two assists in 17 appearances. NEW YORK ACQUIRES GOALKEEPER BILL GAUDETTE The New York Red Bulls announced July 13 that it acquired goalkeeper Bill Gaudette from the LA Galaxy in exchange for New York’s natural 2014 second round MLS Supplemental Draft pick. Gaudette, 30, most recently was a member of the LA Galaxy, joining the team for the 2012 season. He appeared in three matches for the Galaxy, posting a record of 0-2-1 and a 1.33 goals against average. Gaudette came to Los Angeles after a one-year stint with the Montreal Impact of the North American Soccer League in 2011. He made nine appearances for the Canadian club. From 2008-2010, Gaudette played for the Puerto Rico Islanders, then of the USL First Division. He had a standout first season in 2008, winning the USL First Division’s Goalkeeper of the Year award and leading the league with 14 victories while posting 10 shutouts. That season, Puerto Rico won its first ever Commissioner’s Cup for finishing first in the league standings. Gaudette was also instrumental for the Islanders in their run to the 2008-09 CONCACAF Champions League semifinals. He followed up his solid 2008 season on the domestic front in 2009 by tying for the USL First Divison lead with 15 victories and 12 shutouts. In 2010, he backstopped the Islanders to the USSF Division 2 Professional League title. Gaudette began his professional career in MLS with the Columbus Crew, who selected him in the 2005 Supplemental Draft. He appeared in 17 matches with the Crew in the 2005 and 2006 seasons, posting MLS career highs in 2006 with 11 appearances, three shutouts and a goals against of 1.18. Gaudette played collegiately at St John’s University from 2001-04, and spent time with the Brooklyn of the USL Premier Development League before coming to MLS. On the international level, the 30-year-old has earned two caps for the Puerto Rico National Team, debuting on June 1, 2012 in a 3-1 win over Nicaragua.
NEW YORK RED BULLS VS HOUSTON DYNAMO – AUGUST 10, 2012 – 8:00 PM ET SOLLI SCORES TWO-STRAIGHT After going goalless in 42 with the Red Bulls, midfielder Jan Gunnar Solli scored goals in two consecutive games on June 24 and June 30. The Norwegian most recently found the back of the net on June 30, volleying home a Brandon Barklage cross in a 1-1 tie against Toronto F C. Six days prior, Solli picked a good time to score his first MLS goal, as his 55th minute tally against D.C. United proved to be the game-winning goal in a 3-2 victory at Red Bull Arena. RECORD CROWD The Red Bulls’ 3-2 win over D.C. United on June 24 was attended by a record crowd at Red Bull Arena for a Red Bulls match (25,187). It broke the previous Red Bull Arena record set on Oct. 4, 2011 - a day when the Red Bulls won 2-0 over the LA Galaxy. RED BULLS LOAN HERTZOG FOR REST OF YEAR The New York Red Bulls announced June 27 that the loan of forward Corey Hertzog to USL-PRO side Wilmington Hammerheads was extended for the remainder of the USL-PRO season. The teams had initially agreed to a one month loan for the former Penn State University forward on May 29. While on loan with the Hammerheads, Hertzog has played in seven matches and registered four goals and two assists. Wilmington is currently in fourth place in USL-PRO with a 5-4-4 record. Originally drafted by New York in the first round (13th overall) of the 2011 MLS SuperDraft out of Penn State University, Hertzog had not made a first team appearance for the Red Bulls in 2012. Last season, Hertzog featured in five regular season games. Hertzog scored one goal in three MLS Reserve League appearances this year. BARKLAGE BURNS FORMER CLUB Red Bulls defender Brandon Barklage made his former team pay on June 24, as he popped in his first two career MLS goals in helping the Red Bulls to a 3-2 win over D.C. United. Barklage tied the match at one apiece when he deflected in a Joel Lindpere corner in the 20th minute, and gave New York the lead with a stunning strike in second half stoppage time. In addition, Barklage became the first defender in franchise history to score two goals in a single match. PEARCE ON THE BOARD Red Bulls defender Heath Pearce scored in the 86th minute on June 20 against Vancouver to give the Red Bulls a 1-1 draw. The goal was Pearce’s first career MLS goal. However, Pearce did score his first Red Bulls goal on May 29 in the U.S. Open Cup, a 3-0 victory over the Charleston Battery. OPEN CUP ACCO-LADE Despite the Red Bulls’ exit from the U.S. Open Cup in the fourth round at Harrisburg June 5, the competition saw the first two career goals from Red Bulls defender and former Academy member Connor Lade. Lade notched a goal in each of New York’s two Open Cup contests, on May 29 at the Charleston Battery and on June 5 at Harrisburg. RED BULLS ACQUIRE NATIONAL TEAM DEFENDER PEARCE The New York Red Bulls announced May 17 they acquired U.S. National Team defender Heath Pearce, allocation money and future considerations from Chivas USA in exchange for forward Juan Agudelo. Pearce made his debut on May 19 against Montreal, playing 90 minutes in New York’s 2-1 victory. Pearce was in the midst of his fourth season in Major League Soccer, playing every minute of Chivas USA’s 10 games this year. Last year, Pearce, who has played in every defensive position during his career, featured in 30 games, notching three assists. The Modesto, CA native was acquired by Chivas USA from FC Dallas on Feb. 15, 2011 in exchange for allocation money. With FC Dallas, Pearce was part of the side that made the final of the 2010 MLS Cup. In that season, Pearce featured in 28 games, notching six assists. Pearce joined FC Dallas in Sept. 2009 after playing in Danish Superliga side Nordsjælland (2005-07) and German team Hansa Rostock (2007-09). With Nordsjælland, Pearce notched 75 appearances and scored two goals before moving to Hansa Rostock, playing in 31 games.
Pearce has earned 35 caps for the United States National Team, making his debut on Nov. 12, 2005 against Scotland. The 5-10, 175-pound defender helped the U.S. qualify for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and was named to the 30-man preliminary roster. Pearce was also a member of the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup squad and started five games in the Americans’ run to the final of the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Agudelo, a graduate of the Red Bulls Academy, featured in 33 games for New York since he became professional in 2010, starting 13, and scoring six goals and two assists. STREAK SNAPPED, BUT A NEW RECORD When the Red Bulls surrendered a goal to Philadelphia Union forward Lionard Pajoy in the 31st minute on May 13, it snapped a 321-minute shutout streak by Red Bulls goalkeeper Ryan Meara. The streak is a record for MLS rookie goalkeepers, besting Union goalkeeper Zac MacMath's previous mark. MAKING HISTORY The Red Bulls made history on April 7 when they defeated the Columbus Crew by a 4-1 score. New York became the first team in Major League Soccer history to win three consecutive matches by three or more goals. Their victory against Columbus was preceded by a 5-2 win over Montreal on March 31 and a 4-1 defeat over Colorado on March 25. OH HENRY Thierry Henry scored seven goals in a three-game span from March 25 through April 7. Henry is the first MLS player since Edson Buddle in April 2010 to have three-straight multi-goal games. Additionally, Henry’s seven goals in a three-game span is the first such streak in MLS since Landon Donovan did so in April 2008. DYNAMO, RED BULLS MEET IN SECOND LEG OF MIDSEASON SHOWDOWN The Houston Dynamo (11‐5‐7; 40 points) will look to maintain its first place position and set a franchise record with a sixth
consecutive win on Friday when they visit the New York Red Bulls (11‐7‐5; 38 points) for the second meeting to complete a
rare regular season home‐and‐home series. After Houston kept its perfect home record (8‐0‐3) with a 2‐0 win on Friday, it will
look to deliver a home loss to New York, the only other MLS club with a perfect home record (7‐0‐3). Friday’s meeting at Red
Bull Arena is the third and final meeting between the clubs and the decisive game in the season‐series, with the series tied 1‐1
after two meetings in 2012. The first playoff tiebreaker is head‐to‐head record, so Friday’s meeting would hold extra
significance if the Eastern Conference rivals finish the season with equal points.
Houston vs. New York Neither club has won a regular season game on the road in the all‐time series, with Houston 0‐4‐3 at New York since 2006.
Houston is 3‐4‐7 in regular season meetings with New York after last Friday’s 2‐0 home win. It was the first two‐goal
difference in a game between the clubs since 2009, with the previous seven meetings decided by a goal or less, including five
ties. In Friday’s meeting, Dynamo defender Jermaine Taylor delivered a 1‐0 lead in the second minute, directing Andre
Hainault’s shot into the goal. Calen Carr scored the second Dynamo goal in the 28th minute, heading home a cross from
Macoumba Kandji for a 2‐0 lead. In the clubs’ first meeting of 2012, May 9 at Red Bull Arena, New York secured a 1‐0 win as
Kenny Cooper capitalized on a soft back pass in the Dynamo penalty area for the game‐winning goal in the seventh minute.
The teams tied both matches in 2011, 1‐1 at Red Bull Arena on April 2 and 2‐2 at Robertson Stadium on May 21. New York
defeated Houston in 2009 in the clubs’ only postseason meeting, a 4‐1 aggregate series win, with the Red Bulls registering a
decisive 3‐0 second leg win in Houston.

DYNAMO NOTES _ Dynamo match club record with fifth straight win: The Dynamo have won five consecutive regular season games for the
first time since 2009, when the team matched a club‐record with a five‐game winning streak from May 23 – June 13, 2009.
The Dynamo also recorded a five‐game winning streak from June 3 – June 24, 2007. The Dynamo have outscored their
opponents 13‐1 during the current five‐game winning streak.
Cameron receives U.K. visa to complete transfer to Stoke City: Former Dynamo defender Geoff Cameron was granted a
United Kingdom visa on Wednesday, completing his transfer to English Premier League club Stoke City. Cameron, 27,
made 116 regular season appearances for the club in five seasons, scoring 11 goals with 15 assists. The Attleboro, Mass.
native played various roles in central midfield and center back for the Dynamo and was named an MLS All‐Star in 2009,
2011 and 2012. Cameron also won Houston’s Golden Boot in 2011 with five goals and five assists in a career‐high 33 games.
Ricardo Clark returns to Dynamo: The Dynamo completed the signing of free agent midfielder Ricardo Clark on
Wednesday. Since leaving the Dynamo at the end of the 2009 season, Clark played for Eintracht Frankfurt of the German
second division through February, when he was loaned to Stabæk Fotball of the Norwegian first division. Clark was
released from his contract with Eintracht Frankfurt in late July. A cornerstone of Houston’s 2006 and 2007 championship
teams, Clark, a member of the 2006 MLS Best XI, scored 7 goals in 97 games played for the Dynamo between 2006 and 2009.
Additionally, Clark has been capped 34 times by the U.S. Men’s National Team, including two starts in the 2010 World Cup.
Taylor tallies third fastest Dynamo goal: Jermaine Taylor scored just 72 seconds into the 2‐0 win over New York on Friday.
It was the third fastest goal in Dynamo history, and second fastest in regular season play. Joseph Ngwenya scored 12
seconds into Houston’s SuperLiga game versus Morelia on July 29, 2007 for the fastest goal in team history. Brian Ching
scored the fastest goal in MLS play, netting a goal 67 seconds into the match at Real Salt Lake on Sept. 19, 2009.
Dynamo are unbeaten in eight games: The Dynamo are unbeaten in their last eight games (6‐0‐2). It is the longest regular
season unbeaten streak since Houston set a franchise record for consecutive games without a loss at 11, from April 11 ‐
June 20, 2009 (8‐0‐3), when the club matched a franchise record with five straight wins. Houston also had ten‐game
unbeaten streaks in 2007 (8‐0‐2) and 2006 (4‐0‐6). Houston has outscored its opponents 15‐2 during the eight‐game streak.
Clean Sheets: Goalkeeper Tally Hall extended his career high with his tenth shutout of the season on Friday versus New
York. Hall is tied for the league lead in shutouts with Jimmy Nielsen of Sporting Kansas City. With one more shutout, Hall
will tie Pat Onstad, who set a franchise record with 11 shutouts in 2007, when the club had a total of 13 clean sheets in 30
regular season games. Hall and the Dynamo have recorded six shutouts in their last seven games and have not allowed a
goal in the run of play since June 30. It has been seven and a half games ‐ 674 minutes ‐ since Keon Daniel of Philadelphia
scored against the Dynamo, the last goal conceded in the run of play.
Dynamo in historic home territory: The Dynamo have the longest current regular season home unbeaten streak in Major
League Soccer (19 games) and have set a new franchise record, eclipsing their previous mark of 17, from June 26, 2008 to
June 20, 2009. Houston has the third longest home unbeaten streak in league history. The chart below details the longest

Hard to beat in Houston: With Friday’s 2‐0 win over New York, the Dynamo improved to 8‐0‐3 at BBVA Compass Stadium
since its opening on May 12. Houston has not lost a home game in over a year, with their last home defeat on June 18, 2011,
a 2‐0 loss to the Columbus Crew. The Dynamo are unbeaten in 20 consecutive home games (playoffs included), spanning
the final nine games at Robertson Stadium and the first 11 games at BBVA Compass Stadium.
Three’s Company (shutouts): After going over three years without three consecutive shutouts, the Dynamo have
recorded three in a row twice in a seven‐game span. Houston kept its third straight clean sheet on Friday versus New York
after recording three in a row to begin July. Before the run of six clean sheets in seven games, the last time Houston
recorded three straight was May 30 – June 10, 2009.
Carr sets career high with fourth goal: Calen Carr set a career high with his fourth goal of the season on Friday. All four
goals were scored in his last four games, including two versus Kansas City on July 18. Carr scored 3 goals in 2010 and 2007.
Davis is on fire: Midfielder Brad Davis recorded two assists on July 28 at Toronto for his second consecutive two‐assist
game and his fourth straight game with an assist. The all‐star midfielder has recorded six assists in his last five games and
now has ten assists on the season. Davis is tied for the league lead in assists with Dwayne De Rosario of D.C. United. It is
the fourth consecutive season and fifth in his last seven that Davis has recorded ten or more assists.
Possession: The Dynamo have won the possession battle in 19 of 23 games on the season. The Dynamo had 52 percent
possession on Friday versus New York, 60% at Toronto, 58% vs. Montreal, a season‐high 71% against Kansas City on July 18
and 67% vs. D.C. United. Houston lost the possession battle to Sporting KC on July 7, 50.2%‐49.8%, had 61% vs. Chicago on
July 3, 55% vs. Philadelphia, had less, 53‐47%, at Montreal, had 63% vs. Toronto, 54% against FC Dallas, 54% at Vancouver,
60% vs. LA, 62% at New England, 60% vs. Portland, 56% vs. D.C., 53% at New York, 54% at D.C., a 49‐51% disadvantage at
Columbus, 55% at Chicago, 56% at Seattle, a disadvantage (48‐52%) at San Jose, and 53% at Chivas USA.
Second Half Savants: Houston’s 2‐0 win over New York on Friday improved its record to 11‐1‐6 when tied or leading at
the break. The Dynamo are 4‐1‐6 in games in which they were tied at halftime and 7‐0 when leading at the interval. The
Dynamo have outscored opponents 19‐11 in the second half this season.
Cold Blooded: They Dynamo are 9‐0‐3 this year when the temperature is 80 degrees or more. Ten of the 12 games were at
BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston.
Davis continues to climb MLS assist chart: Dynamo midfielder Brad Davis recorded his 89th and 90th career regular season
assists in the July 28 win at Toronto. Davis is eighth on the MLS all‐time assist chart and his next target is Cobi Jones, who is
seventh on MLS list with 91 assists. Dynamo assistant coach Steve Ralston is the all‐time leader, with 135 assists.
Ching passes Josh Wolff, Brian McBride for 12th on MLS all‐time goal list: Dynamo forward Brian Ching scored his 81st
career MLS regular season goal on July 28 at Toronto. Ching is now alone in 12th on the all‐time MLS scoring list. Ching is
one goal away from tying Raul Diaz Arce, who is 11th on the chart with 82 goals.
Dynamo newcomer Boniek García continues strong start: The Dynamo are unbeaten (6‐0‐2) since Honduran midfielder
Boniek García’s debut on June 30 and have allowed just two goals in his eight games. Furthermore, Garcia has a goal and
three assists, and has played 90 minutes in all eight games. The 27‐year‐old Designated Player signed with Houston on June
7 after playing for Honduran powerhouse C.D. Olimpia since 2007 after his first tenure with the club from 2003‐06. With
García, Olimpia captured the 2011‐12 Honduran League Apertura and Clausura championships. The midfielder debuted for
the Honduras national team in 2005 and has 69 appearances for his country, including five appearances in the 2011
CONCACAF Gold Cup. The Dynamo will face Olimpia in CONCACAF Champions League group play on Aug. 30 in
Honduras and Oct. 23 in Houston.
Daytime Dominance: The Dynamo continued their excellent play in day games on July 28 at Toronto, improving to 5‐1 in
day games this year. The 3‐1 loss at Vancouver on June 10 is their only loss in a day game this season. Houston has daytime
wins over Chivas USA, San Jose, D.C. United, LA Galaxy and Toronto FC. The Dynamo are 5‐4‐7 in night games. Houston
has only one more day games this season, Sept. 23 at Philadelphia).
Calen Carr named MLS Player of the Week: Calen Carr was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North
American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for Week 20 (ending July 22). Carr netted a brace—his first two goals of the MLS
season—in the Dynamo’s 2‐1 win over Sporting Kansas City on July 18. He also added an assist—another first for him in the
2012 campaign—in Houston’s 3‐0 defeat of the Montreal Impact on July 21. In his seventh season in MLS, this is the first
Player of the Week honor for Carr. It also represents Houston’s first Player of the Week award this season.
Davis, Cameron named All‐Stars: Defender Geoff Cameron and midfielder Brad Davis were named to the inactive roster
for the 2012 MLS All‐Star Game. The Dynamo pair were among a group of 13 players named All‐Stars that did not compete
in MLS’ 3‐2 win against Chelsea FC on July 25. The 13 inactive All‐Stars were voted on by the players. It is Cameron’s third
All‐Star selection after making the team in 2009 and 2011. It is the fourth straight year that Davis is an All‐Star, and his fifth
selection overall.
Bruin in elite sophomore company: Forward Will Bruin is in elite company for second‐year players in MLS. Bruin is tied
for second in scoring for players who debuted in MLS in 2011, with 15 goals in 47 games. Toronto FC’s Danny Koevermans
leads second‐years players with 17 goals while Vancouver’s Camilo is tied with Bruin for second with 15 goals.
Boswell is Mr. Reliable: Dynamo defender Bobby Boswell has played full time in 33 consecutive MLS matches (playoffs
included) dating to Sept. 14, 2011 at Columbus. The center back is the only Dynamo field player to play every minute of
every MLS game in 2012. Boswell has now started 134 regular season games with the Dynamo and is third on the franchise
list for regular season starts.
Bruin hits ten goals: Dynamo forward Will Bruin scored his tenth goal of the season on July 15 vs. D.C. United. The
second‐year forward is in fifth place in the MLS Golden Boot race. San Jose striker Chris Wondolowski leads MLS with 17
goals while New York’s Kenny Cooper and Alvaro Saborio of Real Salt Lake have 13 goals each and Thierry Henry has 11.
East Coast Bias: The Dynamo are currently ten games into a stretch of 14 consecutive games against Eastern Conference
teams. Houston has four games remaining on the Eastern stretch and is 7‐3‐6 overall versus the Eastern Conference. The
next time the Dynamo face a team from the Western Conference is Sept. 6, when they host Real Salt Lake.
Ching reaches third on Dynamo games played list: Brian Ching made his 185th Dynamo appearance in all competitions on
July 7 at Kansas City. He passed Brian Mullan for third on Houston’s all‐time games list.
More Bruin: Bruin now has 15 regular season goals in his two‐year career. Bruin is tied with Stuart Holden for fourth on
the franchise list. Dwayne De Rosario (24 goals) is next on the franchise list.
Bruin in historic Dynamo territory: Bruin’s 10 goals are the most for a Dynamo player since Brian Ching set a franchise
record with 13 goals in 2008. Bruin reached 9 goals in the fastest number of games (15) in team history. Ching reached 9
goals in Houston’s 16th game in 2006, but Ching missed six of those games due to U.S. men’s national team duties for the
2006 World Cup. Ching scored his ninth goal of 2006 in his tenth game of the season. Bruin’s first 9 goals in 2012 came in a
12‐game stretch (April 15 at Chicago to June 23 at Montreal).
Three in a row for Bruin: Will Bruin scored in three consecutive games (6/16, 6/20, 6/23) for the second time this season
(4/15, 4/21, 4/28), with four goals in each three‐game scoring streak. He is the first Dynamo player with a pair of three‐
game scoring streaks in the same season, and just the second player to record two streaks overall (Ching). His last streak
marked the sixth time a Dynamo player has scored in three consecutive games (Bruin 2012 (twice); Ching 2006, 2008; Joseph
Ngwenya 2007; Stuart Holden 2009). No Dynamo player has ever scored in four consecutive games.
Davis passes De Ro for second on Dynamo scoring list: Brad Davis’ goal in the first half on June 30 was his 25th regular
season goal with the Dynamo. He moved past Dwayne De Rosario into second on the franchise scoring list.
Dynamo are defensive in final 15 minutes: Houston has allowed just one goal after the 75th minute this season, the
fewest in MLS. The only goal conceded by Houston in the final quarter hour was June 10 at Vancouver, when Jordan
Harvey scored in the 88th minute.
Hall sets goalkeeper consecutive starts record: Tally Hall set a franchise record for consecutive starts by a goalkeeper with
his 47th consecutive start against FC Dallas on June 16. He broke the record of 46 games set by Pat Onstad, from Sept. 13,
2008 – May 13, 2010. Hall started all 34 games in 2011 and the first 23 games in 2012, pushing the active record to 57 games.
Hall has the second longest active streak MLS goalkeepers, behind Matt Pickens of Colorado (66 starts).
Champions League schedule announced: The Dynamo learned its schedule in Group 3 of the 2012‐2013 CONCACAF
Champions League on June 22. Houston will open group play with two road games – Aug. 22 at C.D. FAS of El Salvador
and Aug. 30 at C.D. Olimpia of Honduras. The Dynamo will host FAS on Sept. 20 and Olimpia on Oct. 23 at BBVA
Compass Stadium. The group winner will advance to the quarterfinals, set for March 2013. The Dynamo qualified for the
tournament by advancing to the 2011 MLS Cup Final. This is the fifth appearance for the Dynamo in the regional
championship, including semifinal runs in the 2007 and 2008 Champions Cup tournaments. It is the first appearance for the
Dynamo in Champions League since they advanced to the quarterfinals in 2008‐2009.
Wonderful vs. West: With the 2‐1 win over FC Dallas on June 16, the Dynamo improved to 4‐2‐1 on the season against the
heralded Western Conference. Houston has wins against FC Dallas, LA Galaxy, San Jose and Chivas USA.
• BBVA Compass Stadium opener: The Dynamo opened the 13th soccer‐specific stadium in Major League Soccer on May 12.
On a gorgeous, 82‐degree day in front of a sell‐out crowd of 22,039, the Dynamo honored past legends, including Wade
Barrett, Pat Onstad, Eddie Robinson and Craig Waibel in a pregame ceremony that included the unveiling of 2006 and
2007 MLS Cup championship banners. Brad Davis provided a signature opening moment, delivering a beautiful, curling 30‐
yard strike for the game‐winning goal in the 67th minute.
Six years after the club’s first match on April 2, 2006, only two players remain on the Dynamo roster: Brian Ching and Brad
Davis. Defender Eddie Robinson retired in January and joined the front office as an assistant coach with the team’s Youth
Academy and as a color analyst on TV broadcasts.
