EMB – MIMAROPA CELEBRATES PHILIPPINE ENVIRONMENT MONTH THRU AN
ENVIRONMENTAL SUMMIT
“Fostering Shared Responsibility in Integrated Waste Management” is the theme
of this year’s Regional Environmental Summit conducted by EMB – MIMAROPA in
cooperation with the National Solid Waste Management Commission Secretariat
(NSWMCS) on June 13 – 15, 2016 held at Ramada Hotel, Binondo, Manila in line with
the celebration of Philippine Environment Month.
The 3-day summit was comprised of lectures, workshops cum exhibit and other
activities designed to achieve the objective of environmental sustainability thru
Integrated Waste Management.
Speakers from the Local Government Units (LGUs) of Calapan City, Oriental
Mindoro and Quezon, Palawan, Coral Bay Nickel Corporation (CBNC), New City
Commercial Center Mall (NCCC)- Palawan, Western Philippine University (WPU) and
Mindoro State College of Agriculture and Technology (MinSCAT) shared their best
practices in solid waste management.
Mr. Romeo Olarte from NSWMCS, Engr. Maria Socorro A. Abu, Chief, EMED,
Engr. Buena Fe A. Rioflorido, OIC – Chief, CPD, Forester Pacifico G. Crisologo, Chief,
ESWM Section, PO3 Emmanuel Bautista of Philippine Coast Guard and Mr. Lorenzo
Suarez, DILG – MIMAROPA served as resource speakers to discuss updates and legal
bases on how to comply to the provisions of R.A. 9003.###
