James – Faith/WorksTeacher: Rob RogersDates: 1/9 - 4/10Location: E-8Cost $13

This study examines the core message of James: the relationship between faith and works. In our

own ability, we cannot stand in the face of adversity. Without faith, we could never find the strength to trust God. We would never be able to see above the trials we meet and to keep our eyes focused on the King while counting our trials as joy. This is the essence of James. We do not work to be saved; we work because we are saved. Faith apart from works can never be sustained.

Messy Grace and BeyondFacilitators: Doreen Reysen & Rebecca SpanglerDates: 1/9 – 5/29Location: C-207 (Upstairs behind MPC)Cost $10 (optional book)

Very few issues in Christianity are as divisive as the acceptance of the LGBT community in the church. This ENGAGE group has studied Messy Grace (and may choose to study it again) and continues to discuss how

to connect to a key theme of Messy Grace which is that Jesus’ command to “love your neighbor as yourself” doesn’t have an exception clause for a gay “neighbor” - or for that matter, any other “neighbor” we might find it hard to relate to. Jesus was able to love all people, and yet still hold on to His beliefs, and so can you.
