SAN VICENTE PALLOTTI Nació el 21 de Abril de 1795 en Roma. Persona sencilla, sacerdote (el 16 de mayo de 1818) lleno de grandes deseos y místico sumergido en Dios. Fue inspirador de muchas obras de gran influencia en la historia Su deseo de avivar la fe y el amor entre los miembros del Pueblo de Dios configuró la Unión del Apostolado Católico que nació en el 4 de abril de 1850. Vicente Pallotti expresa su intuición diciendo: “El Apostolado Católico, es decir universal, como puede ser común a cualquier clase de personas, es hacer lo que cada uno puede y debe hacer la mayor gloria de Dios y para la salvación propia y de los otros”. Para Vicente Pallotti, María, Reina de los Apóstoles, es el más perfecto modelo de la vida espiritual y apostólica. Este título es un programa para el apostolado de toso los fieles. El servicio ministerial de realizan los miembros de la Sociedad del Apostolado Católico (Los Palotinos). Murió el 22 de enero de 1850. El 22 de enero de 1950 es proclamado beato por Pío XII y el 20 de enero de 1963 es canonizado por Juan XXIII. First, the angels revealed Jesus to the shepherds. In the Western Church, the Feast of the Epiphany celebrates Jesus’ first appearance to the Gentiles, represented by the Magi, while in the Eastern Church, the feast is commemoration of the Baptism of Christ where the Father and the Holy Spirit gave combined testimony to Jesus’ identity as Son of God. Later, in the synagogue at Nazareth, Jesus revealed himself as the promised Messiah, at Cana Jesus revealed his Divinity by transforming water into wine. Tradicionalmente se celebra la fiesta de la manifestación o Epifanía, el día 12 después de Navidad, el 6 de enero. Muchas tradiciones se han desarrollado alrededor de este día de fiesta. FIESTA DE LOS NIÑOS Con la alegría que nos circunda, con la felicidad visible de los niños, os deseamos nuestra bienvenida a la Eucaristía en esta fiesta de la Manifestación de Dios: es lo que significa Epifanía. La presencia de los Reyes Magos en el Portal de Belén es la presentación del Niño Dios a los pueblos gentiles, a los no judíos. Pero, es, como puede verse, es también el Día de los Niños, el Día de las ilusiones. Y ese contenido infantil de la celebración es muy bueno. Ya sabéis que el mismo Cristo nos dijo que si no somos como niños no entraremos en el Reino de los cielos. Epifanía Los magos, o "tres sabios" trajeron regalos a Jesús. Oro para mostrar que era un rey, incienso (usado para ofrecer a Dios en adoración) para mostrar que era un sacerdote, y mirra para mostrar cómo moriría para salvarnos (la mirra se usaba para ungir cuerpos para enterrarlos). Es un pensamiento interesante preguntarse qué regalos podríamos ofrecerle a Dios. En este caso, los dones fueron declaraciones del poder, intención y generosidad de Jesús. Pero ¿qué podríamos darle a Dios? ¿Qué podemos darle a Dios? Piensa en esa pregunta. Te di dos respuestas, pero hay más. Los Magos tomaron la iniciativa e hicieron el trabajo de visitar a Jesús y ofrecer regalos que dignifiquen a nuestro Rey. ¿Cómo podemos hacer algo similar con lo que Jesús realmente quiere? Mientras lo hacemos, solo tenga en cuenta que Dios nunca es superado en generosidad. W e are very often in the dark. We like the whole venture, appear fool- ish. Sometimes there is danger. Some people whom we would like to please will think we are crazy. Ironically, we think we are searching; but god, we are told, is actually reaching out to us; we are just responding. The wise men reached their goal, Jesus, at the center. The starlight may have been poor, but it was enough to get them there. Our way may not always be clear; other lights shine brightly in competition. But finding our way always has to do with seeking Jesus; and we always have enough light because Jesus is the light of the world. He is always manifest in the gospel of Matthew which we just read, gifts are a way of expressing, giving ourselves to Christ. Gold symbolizes deep respect. Our presence at mass is an expression of that gift. Frankensence represents a caring, fragrant presence to oth- ers. Myrrh was used for embalming and symbolizes the faith that goes beyond death. Faith is what underpins our gifts. A legend says that Casmir, Melchior, Balthazar travelled proclaiming Jesus’ kingship to Cologne in Germany. In the cathedral that dominates that city, there are their reputed tombs behind the main altar. It is our respect, our caring and our faith that we bring to our Lord. Only in respecting and loving our lord are we able to enter the stable. Then, we who have found Jesus have the wonderful task of manifesting him to those whose lives we touch, of continuing the epiphany to the ends of the world.
