The name Eterna is synonymous with timepieces of the
highest quality, with cultivating the long tradition of the Swiss
watchmaker’s craft, and with an outstanding spirit of innovation.
The consuming and passionate desire to master horological
challenges as well as to constantly improve existing features has
been driving Eterna since 1856. Thus the workshops in Grenchen
have been constantly enriching and revolutionising the
craft of watchmaking over and over again with numerous
significant developments. Today, too, Eterna is still characterised
by this ingenious creativity. The current collections reflect
the brand’s long tradition, while also showing the way forward

THE PIONEERSIN WATCHMAKING
UNIQUE INNOVATION CREATES NEW STANDARDS
In its uncompromising quest for absolute mechanical perfection,
Eterna has developed pioneering solutions for centuries-old
watchmaking challenges in the course of it more than 150-year
brand history and thus set new standards time and again. With the
invention in 1948 of the Eterna-Matic, the ball-bearing mounted
rotor system that reduces friction, Eterna revolutionised automatic
movements. Further milestones include the recently created Eterna
Spherodrive ball-bearing mounted barrel rotor system, which has
established hitherto unachievable standards with regard to quality
and longevity in mechanical movements, as well as the Calibre 39.
Thanks to its ingenious modular design, this basic movement can
be used to create 88 different movement versions.
THE CALIBRE 39 LINE BY ETERNA:
BOOSTING THE BRAND’S PIONEERING SPIRIT
For many years, Eterna has been concentrating on expanding its manufacturing
and portfolio of movements. Now we can reveal, Eterna has completed a
major develpoment involving high precision and ingenuity ; its Calibre 39.
This movement is not only an industrial calibre, but also represents a
family of calibres thanks to whose modularity the brand can produce
88 different movements using the base calibre.

CALIBRE 3500 A half-century after the Eterna Matic,
with its historic combining of the
winding rotor and the ball bearing, comes
another technical breakthrough
from Eterna. Its innovative Eterna
Spherodrive ball bearings seating
for the barrel and barrel arbor,
eliminates practically every drawback of
the centuries-old system it replaces.
CALIBRE 3030 In 2006, Eterna‘s watchmakers decided
to rework on the calibre 1504 dated from
1974 to create the actual calibre 3030. The
slim, domed movement was taken as a
base. Only a few details were changed to
benefit from new technologies and a big
date with two discs was added.
CALIBRE 3510 Mounted on ball bearings in
Eterna Spherodrive fashion, the 3510
movement’s two series-coupled barrels
provide the hour, minute and seconds
hands with eight full days of exceptionally
smooth and regular operation.

CALIBRE 3843 This new movement follows the
introduction of hand-wound calibres
3505 and 3510. Still equipped with
the Eterna Spherodrive, but today it is
self-winding and round.

the next year follows the
ultra-thin manufacture
automatic 3030. In 2007 the
calibre 6037 and a halfcentury

highlights the significance
of tiny ball-bearings in
mechanical watchmaking
in 2009.
THE 1980S The «Museum» line
breaks the thinness record
in all categories. The quartz
wristwatch including the
case has a thickness of only
0.98 mm. On 8 May, Eterna
