LAYOUT

Digipak – In our digipak, we found the typical digipak template off of Google Images and used it to base our edited images on. This was good as it was a good guideline for how many pictures we needed and made our digipak look more professional and realistic, this meant having the five chosen images imported around the C.D. disk holder. The writing has been laid out towards the bottom of the two images because they were the main images of the digipak and would be seen the most.

Magazine cover – For the layout of our magazine cover we chose the photo from our filming, whilst we were filming for the video we took images of which we could use in our magazine cover or digipak, We chose the picture of Kieran pretending to take drugs with a bright effect over the top, this fitted in well with the genre of house music because teenagers and young adults are stereotyped as always partying, doing drugs, wearing bright colours and being drop outs, even though our story shows that this is not the case. The transparent Image of the world over the top of Kieran promotes the artists song ‘save the world’.

FONT CHOSEN Digipak –

After editing my chosen images on a internet software called ‘colour splash’ I added text on two of the main images, I started looking at ‘Adobe Song’ I thought this was a good text but just didn’t look good enough in comparison to the background image, I then decided to change the colour to red to see if it made the slightest difference. Although it was highlighted on the page amongst the black background I just thought it wasn’t appropriate with the scenery so I started looking at other texts. I then found ‘Castellar’. I enlarged the text and changed the colour to fit the image. On my next edited image I found the appropriate writing after scrolling and looking through majority of the given texts. The text I chose was called ‘Imprint MT’. I changed the opacity of the ‘featuring new single’ to make it less bold than the ‘save the world’ making the single name the main feature of the picture along with Kieran jumping.

Magazine Cover – With this we used a range of different fonts within this magazine cover, We used the typical bold ‘Arial’ font to contrast and stand out on the slightly edited background with the images of the earth. We used bold font to show the new album released song name, the other text was slightly smaller but was still able to read the information on the tagline below.

TONE Digipak –

We had to achieve a certain tone when making our ancillary tasks, we went for the tone full of different emotions such being happy, depressed, confused and partying. Some of these emotions are shown in the finalised digipak as Kieran in the music video is meant to be depressed which contrasts the whole house music festival theme of house music, however the images shown have been edited to make them colourful and relative to the genre.

Magazine Cover –There is a range of different colours and images within this magazine cover, The background photo of Kieran is acting as one of our more depressing tones, as he has just taken drugs in the music video, However the transparent images of the world over the top of him makes him looks fits in with the ‘save the world’ song name and questions who is going to save him which makes the viewers confused and intrigued into the matter. The different colour of the three worlds suggest a happy and depressed world.

AUDIENCE

The audience being aged between 16-30 we had to fulfil the audiences expectations by questioning and talking to people within that age range of what they liked to see with our type of genre and if they enjoy that type of music, this was all backed up by questionnaires, focus groups, reviews and personal one on one feedbacks. We took information that we gathered and used it in our music video so that we were able to meet the audience’s needs, for example they said in a house genre music video you would typically see festivals, bright colours and concerts, we used this idea in our video and achieved it well by connecting each drop with a festival scene and made sure that they were all happening when it started to get fast beat. In comparison to other music videos we had our audiences watch we learnt what they liked so that we could interpret some ideas and use them in our music video, this included things like fire, partying, bright colours, animals and dancing.

THE AFTER EFFECTS

We used our digipak and our magazine cover to promote our artist/song, it helped aid the increase of our fan base to rise as we tempted our fans with small clips of what is to come before the overall outcome of the music video arrived. The digipak and magazine cover helped us in the finalisation of our music video because we researched into what we needed in our music video, what colours would look more interesting and bold, what our audience enjoyed and gave us more ideas when watching through different videos and looking through past years music videos/magazines. In comparison to the start of both projects we knew nothing into how to apply our knowledge to make a realistic, professional digipak and magazine cover, this meant we bettered our knowledge into the making and editing of each project which we used in later date when editing our music video. We knew not to over power an image with too much colour or effects, using bright/dark lighting helped set the mood that we tried to convey for each character and enhanced our theme when we came to over exposing the colours when the festival scenes came on, fitting in with the genre of house music.
