 2. How does your

media product represent particular

social groups? There are 7 main social groups: Age, Gender,

Ability/disability, Race, Sexuality, Regional identity and social economic class. In our film we concentrated on

age and gender and wanted to show them in a positive way. We didn't’t focus much about the other social

classes as they didn’t fit in with our narrative.

GenderIn our film we have 4 characters which are all male. This

could stereotypically show that women don’t really fit in an action/thriller film. This could represents women and supports the stereotype that men are the more dominant gender.

All the camera shots in our film are focused on men which indicates stereotypically that women are not as important as men in action films.

Gender The agent and teacher in our film are both male which

could show stereotypically that women cant take on important roles and again supports the stereotype that men are the more dominant gender.

Also in our film we use a lot of low angle shots which could make the male characters look powerful and superior which stereotypically show that men are superior to women.

AgeIn the storyline the main character could represent

how young people are less caring as older people. When the student sees the memory stick he ignores the homeless person and picks up the memory stick and walks off. It may also represent that young people are sly as he stole from the homeless man as he was unaware of it. This could show how young people are not very caring or respectful. Another example of this is when he walks in and throws his bag down which indicates he doesn't’t respect his things and may have an attitude problem.

AgeAt the beginning of the film, the music is

fast paced and loud following the main character which tells the audience a lot about his character as well as building tension. The diegetic sounding has a high tempo and sounds electronic which reflects the music which younger people listen to. The fact that the music has a high tempo and fast paced indicates how aggressive younger people are.

Economic classThe homeless person in the film is sat on a bench and is surrounded

by empty alcohol cans. This could stereotype how homeless people have drinking problems. Also the homeless man is wearing dark and plain clothes compared the main character who wears bright clothes to indicate how nobody notices or cares about the homeless people these days, the clothes which shows how mysterious his character is.

Also the camera doesn’t really show the homeless man which could indicate how their not looked up on but avoided in modern day society. Also there is low angle shot of the main character next to the homeless man which could indicate how the is the dominant and superior in this situation.
