How effective is the combination of your main ad ancillary texts?Evaluation 2

How have you connected all three of your products? There are various ways in which all 3 of my products are

connected, but the main way in which they are connected is through synergy; which occurred through the viewing of the same charcaters recognisable through there costume, and the setting which on the whole remained the same, and can be seen as the same in digipak, poster and video. Synergy can also be seen though the font we used in our poster and digipak, where the text is the same. The photo we used in the poster was that of the front cover in our digipak, I took influnce to do this from my research an example being the release of the gorillaz plastic beach album where they did the same.

What do your ancillary texts add to your main text?My ancillary texts has impacted my main text. Firstly it has enhanced the professional look and feel that an album release would always have. Also with the poster cover it allowed us to show a five star rating and various review which would also be seen on a bi album release. Also with the digipak which includes the lyrics and inside panels as well as the front cover, all of these make our whole project more real and believeable, which was the main aim.

Do your 3 products have a shared identity and how could you have developed your products to increase their synergy? I would say my products do have a shared identity as each of

them can be recognised by the design, i.e font, colours.

To increase synergy more I would have included more shots of the characters on the bridge as this was key feature in our ancillary task. I would of also made each charcter where the same clothes in camden, to keep the continuity. Lastly in terms of the digipak I would have added the star rating on one of the panels as I believe that’s a key piece of information that should be on and album.

How do you feel about your final products? Personally I feel that the outcome of our ancillary task were

better than the musc video, purely because they looked more believable and professional. I feel that the synergy between each part of this product was good and you could clearly see recognisable links. I think my video was good, but could have been better, we over-used the green screen and there were a few shakey pans that looked very unprofessional. Having said all of this I do believe that there were some nice frames for example at the end where the camera pans across to 4 of the characters. If I was to do this again I would shoot more footage and use less green screen, I would also make sure a tri-pod was present on each location, to stop shakey pans from occuring.

What have your target audience said about how effective your products are? Our target audience understood the concept about

teenagers just messing around and not having a care in the world and infact liked the green screen shots and they saw the potential.

In terms of our digpak and poster cover the target audience told us that it did look professional and believeable, where they thought the font and background image were good, some thought the font got a bit repetative, but we explained the synergistic reason behind it to them.
