How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Page 2: Evaluation 2

Similar Magazines

• My magazine has a similar target audience to magazines such as Blender with similar content, focusing on the celebrity image and gossip. Like my magazine, the mode of address is direct as there is clear eye contact.

Representation of Females • These shots have direct eye

contact. It is serious and intense. • These images connotes a sense of

mystery which intrigues the reader to read the articles.

• Females relate to females. Since they are of similar age to my target audience, they will idolise these models and relate to them which would in turn result in an appropriate way to successfully target them.

• The angle of the shot is at eyelevel, putting them on par with their audience. They are not superior and therefore relatable.

Representation of Males

• In my magazine, I have represented males through the model.

• He will be suitable for a female audience because they will more than likely be attracted to him

Representation of Teenagers• This would be suitable for my

audience because through the representation of 5 teenagers (One Direction) They are typically the sort of celebrity my target audience would be interested in. This also shows teenage boys to be successful as they are performing on stage. They are interacting with the audience as well which shows a direct mode of address. The shot is of a slightly lower angle making the boys appear superior.

Representation of Teenagers

• Being located outside, the lighting is high key, the light shows off the youthful radiance of the girls as well as their quirky outfits.

• The long shot suggests that it is not necessarily the facial expression but the body language and outfits which would capture attention. They are dressed similarly to what my target audience would wear and therefore appealing to my target audience.
