The opening of this movie starts with a black screen. Then immediately the title ‘EVIL DEAD’ appears with a non-diegetic clash sound, this introduces the opening of the movie to the audience; giving thematic suggestions hinting at a dramatic story line. Just by the manner in which the combination of the title and sound is presented it is clear that this is a Thriller movie. Also the colour scheme of dark red and black evokes connotations of death and negativity. Also, the forest in the background of the writing reveals to us the stereotypical sense of abandonment which is a common theme in Thriller movies.
