RCIA Journey of Faith ALL ARE WELCOME...The program that we'll be using for RCIA this year is called Symbolon: The Catholic Faith Explained, by Dr. Edward Sri and the Augustine Institute. It is a highly-acclaimed video series with supportive materials that allow for the RCIA experience to be one similar to that of a small faith sharing group. It is for that reason that I am extending the invitation to participate in the Symbolon study to our greater church community. In these video sessions, we'll walk through the entirety of the Catholic Faith with clear and comprehensive explanations of the core teachings of the Church, Scripture, history, the sacraments, and living out the life of faith.. all filmed on-location at some of the most beautiful and captivating treasures of our Church around the world. Join us on Monday evenings in the Parish Hall from 6:30-8pm as we fall madly in love with the beauty that is Catholicism. If you are interested in at-tending, please RSVP with Laura Shoulders: [email protected]

Teen Small Group Meets on Friday evenings. We will go to mass at 5:30, then meet in Youth House after mass for snacks and Time with Jesus! We will pray/snack/talk until 7:30, but times are flexible. Feel free to come and grow with us! We will plan meeting every Friday throughout the school year. For more information, contact Anne Webb at (270) 903-2492.

JOURNEY HOME Through the SYMBOLON Experience If you have a friend or loved one who is away from the Church, we are happy to reach out to them on your behalf and invite them to participate in the Symbolon program we'll be holding on Monday evenings from 6:30-8pm. This program is a great vehicle to reconnect with the beauty of Catholicism and go deeper with Jesus.

“Abraham told the rich man, ‘My child, remember you received what was good dur-ing your lifetime while Lazarus likewise re-ceived what was bad.’” Jesus paints a depressing picture of Laza-rus, a poor man covered with sores laying at the door of a rich man who obviously ig-

nored the poor man just outside of his house. Both men die. From the netherworld [hell] the rich man sees Lazarus in the bosom of Abraham [where all Jews hope to be when they die]. The rich man had clearly ignored the Word that God gave Moses to reveal to the Israelites: to love our neighbor as our-selves. Lazarus, laying outside the rich man’s house was clearly his neighbor. He was obviously in need of love and care. But the rich man ignored him. He did not love Lazarus as he loved himself. He did not even love him enough to provide him with the basic necessities of life. Jesus uses this graphic story to teach us that our neighbors can be just outside our door or across the street. In our current age of instantaneous global communications, our neighbors are all over the world. And many of them are in the same condition as Lazarus. Will we love and help them before it is too late for us?

About a month ago, in my homily I spoke of a pilgrimage I hiked while living in Italy. After the Masses that weekend several people spoke to me about how they had wanted to do something similar in their life. Well, for some time now I have wanted to hike the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route in Spain. The Camino de Santiago simply means the way of St. James. It is an ancient pilgrimage route marking the trek into Compestella to visit the remains of St. James. Through the centuries, this pilgrimage route count-less conversions and miracles are attributed to this pilgrimage route. Most recently a movie called The Way starring Martin Sheen illustrates one person’s journey on this ancient pilgrim-age route. I have long wished to participate in this pilgrimage, and decided that I will be joining a good friend next year to walk this journey. With this being stated, in July of 2020 Father Gary Clark and I will be travelling on the Camino de Santiago. Last year, Father Gary walked 211 kilometers of the Camino Frances. We intend to walk the same trek again in July of next year. The plan will be to fly to Spain on Monday July 13th, 2020 and to return to the United States on Friday July 24th, 2020. At this time Father Gary and I, are extending this invitation to those who might be interested in such a pilgrimage. If you are looking for something to help you grow in your faith, I invite you to prayerfully consider joining us on this pilgrimage. At this time, we estimate that the cost of the trip will be about $2,000 per person. If you are interested in walking with us on the Camino email me at [email protected] or Fr. Gary Clark at [email protected]. If you are interested but do not have two weeks of vacation do not let that stop you. Send us an email and we will give you some options that you can consider. We hope to hear from you soon. God bless you and Buen Camino!

Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co.

Order “The Presence is Real” T-shirt Today! By Stephanie Blondin

We love this church! We love that our children have been baptized here and received the sacraments of First Rec-onciliation, First Communion, and Con-firmation here. We love and appreciate it for all it has done for our family. We are so blessed to be a part of this special family here at Sts. Joseph and Paul. Since our church has always been there for us, we feel called to help our church when it is in need. Next Sunday morning from 9-10am between the 8am and 10am Masses you will have the opportunity to purchase t shirts that help accomplish two great things: You can proclaim the belief of the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist while supporting your church! 100% of the proceeds from the t-shirts sold will go to Sts. Joseph and Paul to support the overall general budget. The black short sleeve shirts are $12 for Youth-XL, $14 for XXL and $16 for XXXL. If you would like to order a shirt, call the office with your name and t-shirt size. Candle holders and car decals with the same message, “The Pres-ence is REAL!” will also be available for purchase.
