Dear Parents/Caregivers,
The first full week back at school has been a busy one! This week
Wiradjuri language lessons started up again for the year and we
welcome back Aunty Esther, who will be teaching language with
Mr Murray every Thursday, in our Stage 1 and Stage 2 classes. Mrs
Wright will be organising our 2019 Band Program tomorrow and Mr
Vogel’s STEM classes have been full steam ahead! It is wonderful to
see in every classroom, such happy, respectful students who are
highly engaged and ‘on task’ with their learning!
Kindergarten’s First Day!
On Monday we welcomed 66 brand new Kindergarten children for
their very first day at “big school”! A huge thank you to all our
Kinder parents for ensuring their children were prepared and
excited about beginning school! Mrs White, Mrs Pulling, Mrs Gibson
and Mrs McFarland have reported on a very settled start to the
year and are enjoying getting to know their new students! If you
haven’t checked out ‘Kindergarten’s First Day’ photos on
Facebook yet, be sure to take a look!
New Technology!
There was great excitement on Wednesday morning as we took
delivery of FIVE brand new Interactive Whiteboards. Two will go into
our new classes – Mugi (Kinder) and Bilbi (support), one will be
installed in the Sports Centre, and the remaining two will replace
the old whiteboards in the Library and Wilay classroom. In addition
to the new boards, CPS will have additional Wireless Access Points
installed in EVERY learning space to enable fast Wi-Fi access, no
matter where students or staff are located in the school. This
upgrade is being done as part of the “Connecting Country
Schools” initiative and CPS is one of the first lucky schools to come
on board.
Parent Information Night
Tonight we will be holding a Parent Information Evening at the
school. This is a wonderful opportunity for all parents to come along
and meet their child’s teachers and find out some general
information about how classes are organised, homework
expectations, upcoming events and general school routines. The
timetable for this evening is as follows;
Mia Balmer is one of
our beautiful
kindergarten students
who commenced on
Monday.
5:30-6:00pm – Stage One – please meet
in the Infants Open Space (Infants building)
6:00-6:30pm – Stage Two – please meet
in the Stage 2 Open Space (primary building)
6:30pm-7:00pm – Stage Three – please
meet in Wilay 3 Classroom (upstairs primary
building)
We look forward to seeing everyone at
school tonight!
Please note – Kindergarten Parent
Information Night will be held next Wednesday
13th February at 5:30pm in the Infants Open
Space.
School Swimming Carnival
Preparations are well underway for our school
Swimming Carnival which will be held next
Friday 15th February at the Cowra Aquatic
Centre. Miss Dunk has been working hard to
get everything ready to go for what is sure to
be an exciting and fun-filled day at the pool!
Permission notes were sent home last week and
students are getting into the spirit with House
war cries being heard across the school.
Parents are encouraged to come along and
be part of the day…I wonder who will take out
the Teachers vs Parents relay this year?!
Assemblies
In 2019, assemblies will take place every
fortnight starting next Friday 15th February.
Assemblies will be held on Fridays with Primary
from 11:30am-12:30pm and Infants from 2:00pm

COWRA PUBLIC SCHOOL P & C NEEDS YOU!!!
We are looking for new members to join the P & C in 2019.
The P & C are an important part of our school community, raising funds to provide ser-
vices and equipment for our children. We liaise between parents/caregivers and the
school and promote a positive learning and social environment. The P & C are also
responsible for the running of our fabulous school canteen.
We meet once a month in the school staffroom where a typical meeting runs for 1.5
hours. You do not have to be a financial member to voice your opinion, it is only if you
wish to vote for your board that you need to pay your gold coin membership fee.
The P & C raise funds for our school through a range of activities -
