FEEDBACK ON INITIAL VIDEO IDEAS
IDEA 1 // BEN HOWARD“Good narrative of
the video- well adapted from original song”
“Well thought out
aesthetically”
“The pictures idea could be difficult to achieve and for the
audience to understand- could
look cheesy.”“I liked the idea of silhouettes”
RESPONSE TO FEEDBACKThe overall feedback was positive especially in the case of my ideas surrounding the narrative. The main criticism was about the part where the main character throws items into the fire as it would be difficult to clearly convey and could look a bit tacky. Hence I would eliminate this part of the video.
IDEA 2 // THE KOOKS“Good song choice-
interesting interpretation about
lyrics” “Good aesthetics”
“Could be repetitious”
RESPONSE TO FEEDBACKAgain, the feedback was mainly positive and it had a stronger reception than my previous idea. The main issue was that there wasn’t enough depth to the idea and so it could become repetitious; in response to this I could add another scene which would be in the studio that would be simplistic but interesting with coloured 80s lighting, like the original video.
IDEA 3 // MILKY CHANCEVery original-
aesthetics well thought
out
“Burn the house down at the end instead, possibly
use silhouettes like the first idea”
“Use dolls to represent the
people”
“Use a doll house to represent the
house in the studio”
“Difficult to do on one day however I like the concept of the house representing the
relationship and the way you have drawn the theme of
childhood from the original video.”
RESPONSE TO FEEDBACKAs suspected the feedback indicated that my idea was too time constraining though I had a lot of constructive criticism which lead to this idea being the most popular. It was suggested that I would scale down the idea to use a dolls house and figurines instead and end up burning down the house, linking to my first idea and possibly using the idea of silhouettes here too. I started thinking about camera techniques and I liked the idea of using toy photography.
