Improved bearing frame design features sealed for life bearingsmeeting all industry requirementsfor a minimum L 10 life of 60,000hours. Optional regreaseable bearings are also available.Improved design also incorporatesa unique sealing system which prevents the migration of water into the bearing frame. An easy-to-replace, slip-on shaft sleeve facilitates seal maintenance in thefield and lowers maintenance costs.The exclusive dry shaft design protects the pump shaft by eliminating contact between theshaft and the circulating fluid.Corrosion-resistant shaft materialsare generally not required. FIPumps also feature flush seal linetaps, allowing the installation of a filter to protect the seal from non-condensible particles present in open systems. In addition,pressure tappings on suction anddischarge connections are provided as a standard feature.

All FI Pumps are provided with afully welded, rigid structural steelbase, with enclosed ends and opengrouting area. This combinationreduces vibration and improvesalignment.

Furnish and install centrifugal end suction single stagepump(s) with capacities and characteristics as shown on the plans. Pumps shall be Taco model FI or approved equal.

Pump volute or casing shall be center-line discharge for positive air venting constructed of class 35 cast iron withintegrally cast mounting feet to allow servicing without disturbing piping connections. The pump shall be fitted withreplaceable bronze wear rings, drilled and tapped for gaugeports at both the suction and discharge connections and fordrain port at the bottom of the casing.

The impeller shall be bronze and hydraulically balanced byeither back vanes or back wear ring and balancing holes.The impeller shall be dynamically balanced to ANSI GradeG6.3 and shall be fitted to the shaft with a key. The pumpshall incorporate a dry shaft design to prevent the circulating fluid from contacting the shaft. The pump shaftshall be high tensile alloy steel with replaceable bronze(stainless steel) shaft sleeve.

The cast iron pump bearing housing shall have heavy dutypermanently lubricated sealed for life ball bearings,replaceable without disturbing the piping connections,and shall have a foot support at the driver end.

The pump shall have a self flushing seal design or a positiveexternal seal flushing line. Any mechanical seal pump usedon an open system shall be furnished with a seal flush lineand a Purocell #900 replaceable cartridge filter with shut-off isolation valve installed in the seal flushing line.The filter shall have the ability to remove particles down to five microns in size.

The pump seal shall be EPT Ceramic rated to 250º F.

The base shall be made of structural steel. The base shallalso include an integral drain pan. A flexible coupler shallconnect the pump to the motor and shall be covered by acoupler guard. Contractor shall level and grout each pumpaccording to the manufacturers recommendations to insureproper alignment prior to operation.
