D A Happy

and Blessed Mother’s

Day!

The Ascension of Our Lord May 14

nd He led them out as far as Bethania: And lifting His hands, He blessed them. And it came to pass, Whilst He blessed

them, He departed from them And was carried up to Heaven.

(Luke 24, 50, 51)

“Eucharistic adoration is the greatest of actions. To adore is to share the life of Mary on earth when

she adored the Word Incarnate in her virginal womb, when she adored Him in the Crib, on

Calvary, in the divine Eucharist.”

~ Saint Peter Julian Eymard

Knights of Columbus Baby Bottle Project

Campaign to Run from Mother’s Day to Father’s Day

The annual Knights of Columbus pro-life fundraiser will kick off on Mother’s Day weekend with the distribution of empty baby bottles. Parishioners are asked to return them, filled with cash or checks on Father’s Day weekend. Donations will be given to a local pregnancy resource center. Last year parishioners donated over $1,000 to benefit Good Counsel Home/SJ for pregnant women and their children who are homeless. So as we celebrate these two holidays and honor the mothers and fathers in our lives, let’s also remember those parents who reject the temptation of abortion and now need our support as they choose life for their babies.

Rogation Day

Litany of the Saints, Procession, and Mass on

Rogation Monday Monday, May 11 at 7:30 PM

"Rogation Days are days during which we seek to ask God's mercy, appease His anger, avert His chastisements manifest through natural disasters, and ask for His blessings, particularly with regard to farming, gardening, and other agricultural pursuits. They are set aside to remind us how radically dependent we are on Mother Earth, and how prayer can help protect us from nature's often cruel ways. These days are divided between the Major Rogation –April 25 (by coincidence alone, the Feast of St. Mark) -- and the Minor Rogation, which consists of the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday before Ascension Thursday.”

The Most Important Person on Earth is a Mother! Happy Mother’s Day!

She cannot claim the honor of having built Notre Dame Cathedral. She need not.

She has built something more magnificent than any cathedral – a dwelling for an immortal soul,

the tiny perfection of her baby’s body… The angels have not been blessed with such a grace.

They cannot share in God’s creative miracle to bring new saints to Heaven. Only a human mother can.

Mothers are closer to God the Creator than any other creature; God joins forces with mothers in performing

this act of creation… What on God’s good earth is more glorious than this: to be a

BALTIMORE CATECHISM

LESSON TWELFTH: On the Attributes and Marks of the Church Q. 570. In which Church are these attributes and marks found?

A. These attributes and marks are found in the Holy Roman Catholic Church alone.

Q. 571. How do you show that Protestant Churches have not the marks of the true Church?

A. Protestant Churches have not the marks of the true Church, because:

1. They are not one either in government or faith; for they have no chief head, and they profess different beliefs;

2. They are not holy, because their doctrines are founded on error and lead to evil consequences;

3. They are not catholic or universal in time, place or doctrine. They have not existed in all ages nor in all places, and their doctrines do not suit all classes;

4. They are not apostolic, for they were not established for hundreds of years after the Apostles, and they do not teach the doctrines of the Apostles.

Q. 572. From whom does the Church derive its undying life and infallible authority?

A. The Church derives its undying life and infallible authority from the Holy Ghost, the spirit of truth, who abides with it forever.

Q. 573. By whom is the Church made and kept One, Holy, and Catholic?

A. The Church is made and kept One, Holy, and Catholic by the Holy Ghost, the spirit of love and holiness, who unites and sanctifies its members throughout the world.

It is also a sign of our respect for the House of God. Therefore, one should always wear their “Sunday Best” to Mass: modesty, good taste and common sense should prevail. Accordingly, the following rules apply: • NO SHORTS, EVER, FOR MEN, WOMEN OR

CHILDREN. • Women: No revealing clothing, low necklines, short

skirts or bare midriffs. Please dress modestly with dignity and self-respect. We suggest that women wear a head covering.
