The medicine course of Unicamp, one of the best
medical courses in the country, is apt to meet the needs
of medical education. The course develops
competencies for medical abilities related to
professional practice, making the student able to act
based on ethical principles and with social
responsibility.
The curricular structure is organized into full-time
teaching modules developed during the six-year
course. This curricular model inserts the student in field
activities from the first year, allowing a view of the
medical profession already at the beginning of the
course.
The learning evaluation system does not only approach
cognitive aspects of learning, but also abilities and
competencies that are expected of the future doctor.

FACULTY OF MEDICAL SCIENCES
The doctors we
have educated
The student is inserted into the medical internship on the
4th year of the medical course, with integrated assistance
in health basic units of the city. During the fifth and sixth
years, the activities develop the intensive practical
training in patients, at the primary, secondary and tertiary
levels of attention. The medical practice is always
performed under the supervision of professors and
physicians of Unicamp.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The Coordination of the Medical Course, along with the Unit for Evaluation and Research in Medical
Education, develops studies related to the maintenance of the quality of teaching, as well as the
improvement of evaluations performed during the course. The learning evaluation system does not only
approach cognitive aspects of learning, but also abilities and competencies that are expected of the
future doctor. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
During the medicine course, the medical internship is the
time in which the medical practice should be performed
with great emphasis, and based on the decision-making
capacity, as well as the development of either individual
or collective actions in health prevention, promotion and
rehabilitation.
The medical internship teaching respects a growing
complexity axis, capacitating the student to make
decisions and participate, in an effective and decisive
way, in assistances under the direct supervision of
habilitated professors and physicians to act as teaching
assistants. The intern performance develops the rescue of
ethical and humanistic dimensions of assistance, leading
the student to recognize values and principles that guide
the doctor-patient relationship.

TEACHING-SERVICE-COMUNITYINTEGRATION
From the first year, the student is inserted into the Basic Health Network, performing territorial d i a g n o s i s a n d e l a b o r a t i n g intervention projects.
ETHICS
During the six-year course, the humanization in the medical education is specifically developed in the disciplines of the ethical axis, as well as in all disciplines included in the curriculum.
Aiming to introduce the student into the critical thinking on sciences and scientific knowledge
production, the medical curriculum at Unicamp, by the discipline MD141 – PRACTICE OF
SCIENCES I –, provides the development of abilities necessary to the active information search,
investigative mentality and the selection of information that could subsidize the practice of the
future professional.
These disciplines were designed from longitudinal axes developed over the medical curriculum,
allowing the integration of concepts and providing different views on the same subject.
During this first semester, the student is also provided with a free time named 'self-study period',
allowing the development of extracurricular activities, according to their own criteria.
nd 2 semester
Giving continuity to the basic concepts to understand
the whole health-disease process, the student, by the
discipline BS-210 – HUMAN MORPHOPHYSIOLOGY II

between morphology and function, acquiring elements
to understand the normal and abnormal processes that
occur in the human body.
The discipline MD-244 – INTRODUCTION TO
MEDICAL IMMUNOLOGY – is ministered with the
objective of rescuing basic concepts acquired in the
discipline BS111 – cell –, characterized by functions of
the main molecules and cells involved into immune,
innate and adaptive responses, and discussing clinical
