Words for Baby“Baby, did you know that God loved theworld so much that He sent His Son? Thatis the best news ever! I’m so glad thatJesus loves you and me and everyone elseso much that He would give His Son forus!”

PRE-KHello, Friends! Happy Easter! It’s time to celebrate that Jesus isalive! He went away, but He came back! Yay, Jesus! Remember, this Easter could be the very first time EVER for some of thepreschoolers at your church to hear the true story of Easter. Andfor others, this could be their first time ever even going to church. We have the awesome opportunity to tell them for the first time

Page 7: First Christian Church Salem, Ohio - Amazon S3 · 2017-05-09 · First Christian Church Salem, Ohio ... eye surgery, Arlene Bjorkman, Brea Beeson SHUT INS Blossom: Pearl Farmer ...

about how Jesus washed His disciples’ feet; made His triumphalentry; died and rose again; built His Church; and gave us the GreatCommission. We get to tell them the true story of how much Godloves them and how He gave them His only Son. We get to tellthem that Jesus is alive, and He wants to be their friend forever. We have one of the best jobs in the world! We get to share withpreschoolers that Jesus is the best! What an honor and a privilege. We’ll wrap up the month with the prodigal son where we’ll see thatwe can love, no matter what, thanks to forgiveness. Just like Jesusloves us, even when we do something wrong, we can love others, even when they do something wrong. It’s going to be an awesomemonth of building with our preschoolers. We’ll be building into kidswho can then proclaim, “I can love everyone.”

Grades K-8thWe’re excited to celebrate Easter as wespend time in John 18:12–20:23. We’llstart with Jesus’ trial and end withcelebrating the resurrection. The religiousleaders are up in arms because Jesus hasclaimed to be God. Doesn’t matter that it’s TRUE; they’re stillready to dish out the ultimate punishment. And Jesus chose to give

Page 8: First Christian Church Salem, Ohio - Amazon S3 · 2017-05-09 · First Christian Church Salem, Ohio ... eye surgery, Arlene Bjorkman, Brea Beeson SHUT INS Blossom: Pearl Farmer ...

up everything and take that punishment, so that no one else hasto.

Bottom Line: I can put others first because Jesus put me first. Itcost Jesus everything to put us first. He gave up His life, so wecould be with God forever. As we respond to God and His gift ofsalvation, we can follow Jesus’ example and put others first.

FCC Students

High School Small Group 10a-11aALL ACCESS Week 2 Bottom Line: When yourwillpower runs out, you have accessto His. Have you ever been tempted bysomething? Maybe you’ve been trying to watch what you eat, butthen suddenly you find yourself in front of a giant bowl of icecream that seemed to be calling your name. Maybe you’vestumbled upon the Christmas presents hidden in your parents’room and found yourself fighting the urge to open them early. Ormaybe you’ve found yourself facing a temptation with biggerconsequences, like gossip, cheating, or lying. Big or small, we allknow what temptation feels like. We know what it feels like to facesomething we know we shouldn’t do, yet still want to do it. And ifwe’re being honest, most of us would probably admit that we’vegiven in to that temptation because we simply couldn’t take it anymore. Our willpower just ran out. So what do we do? How do westop giving in and saying yes when we feel like we don’t have thepower to say no? Believe it or not, Jesus himself knows exactlywhat it’s like to face temptation. He knows how we feel. As welook at the way Jesus handled temptation, we’ll see that we haveall access to His help as we stand our ground against temptation.

NO Youth GroupThis Sunday, we will not be meeting. Enjoy Easter Sunday with

your families.  We will meet again on Sunday, April 23rd and willcontinue our series, “Who Needs God?” by Andy Stanley. If youhave missed or will miss a week you can stay caught up byvisiting, http://northpoint.org/messages/who-needs-god/, to listento the messages.

Imagine Living Sundays In The Wake Of The FirstResurrection Sunday.. Imagine if everyone whowalked into the Worship Center on Sunday morningsensed the same thing...something impossible tonot notice. An “It” factor that would be dynamic andlife-changing. A force at work characterized by God’slove, joy and an unexplainable peace overshadowing everyone that gathered. Amoment when time was suspended and the transforming effect of comforting, edifying, convicting, and guiding was experienced by all. And anyone seriousabout the Lord never leaving the same as when they first walked in. Imagine thatregardless of hang-ups, discouragements, sins, bad thinking, bad attitudes or darkthoughts; after the worship experience you left feeling remarkably changed forthe better. Despite the state you found yourself in when you first sat down, by thetime you left you were aware of being more focused, more stable, more clearthinking and unquestionably more hope filled. In hindsight, you would likely saythat it was nothing less than the presence of God washing over you—cleansing, refreshing, strengthening, clarifying, softening, melting, molding, enlarging, andinfusing you with Himself. Imagine how powerfully that would set the tone for yourweek ahead! Imagine that even with all of that taking place, in truth nothing weirdever really happened. It was more a change in the inner-self, with and through theoutward expression of worship, singing, listening, praying, being open to God andothers around you. There would be no “What is that person doing?” becausepeople wouldn’t make themselves the center of attention. The Holy Spirit wouldunmistakably be the center of it all, and people would soak up God’s presence likesponges. Imagine ironically, all this didn’t make us strange; it made us morenormal. It didn’t make us act like religious zealots; it made us more sober-minded.It didn’t make us attract people’s attention; it made us forget about ourselves andfocus on the Lord in celebration and worship. It didn’t make us selfish, but moreaware of others around us. Imagine the peaceful, yet strengthening presence ofGod in that setting. Life changing and special, not strange or frightening. Imagineupon entering the sanctuary there comes a moment when your soul has to weepand you weren’t alone because practically everyone is overcome at the level oftheir own souls. Imagine God’s presence and love indescribably overtaking you

and your spirit shudders and you begin to shed tears of joy. Finally, imagine theabsolute peace that will finally overcome us all when God transforms Sundayworship gatherings into a perfected new reality. Imagine when we are finally withthe Lord and He will dry every tear (Revelation 21:4). Imagine the people whocome into our worship environment for the first time, sensing God in this way.Imagine every Sunday as a Resurrection Sunday. Imagine what it would be like ifwe prayed for something like that every week when we gather in Jesus’ name.Have a blessed Easter, Leonard
