Music Notes

Expressions of joy and enthusiasm came from all who participated in the worship experience at Andrews Chapel on Sunday evening, April 10. The Men’s Choir opened their part of the service with “Rise Up, O Men Of God.” What an inspiring performance they gave as they led the full house in singing many familiar hymns from The Cokesbury Hymnal. Way to go guys!! “We have only just begun” with this choir, and all men in the church are encouraged to become a part of this great group.

Looking ahead to the next worship service at Andrews Chapel campus we will spotlight the “resurrection” of the singing group, Jubilate. On Sunday afternoon, April 24, Jubilate will lead worship at that campus. Following the service there will be an ice cream social in the fellowship hall. Come and bring family and friends to be blessed by the music, the fellowship, and the sermon by Dr. Bob Winstead—and to enjoy the refreshing time following the service. Who doesn’t like ice cream??

The Sanctuary Choir is continuing to welcome new singers into the choir as we lead worshippers in the 11:00 a.m. service each Sunday. The dedication

and commitment shown by this group adds freshness and vitality to the worship experience. As has been stated many times, the choir is open to all interested persons from Senior High Students through Senior Adults. There are no auditions and no requirements except the desire to experience the joy of making beautiful music together for the glory of God. Join us!!

First Awakening Service continues under the direction of Dale Dodd and the praise team. Musicians are needed. Speak to Dale if you can contribute to that service by giving of your musical talents to lead worship.

Blessings,Margaret

FOR EVERYONE!

Girl Scout Troop 43088 is wrapping up its fifth year of meetings and activities as a FUMC-sponsored group. We have 20 girls from kindergarten through 5th grade. This past weekend we enjoyed learning and interacting with other troops from the area at a camporee at Girl Scout Kamp Kiwani near Bolivar. The weekend included crafts, canoeing, singing, games, knot-tying, tye-dying, first aid, archery, and a performance by Ko Ko Mo the magician. Our troop was even asked to lead the flag ceremony on Sunday morning. We bragged to the parents on our return that the girls were so helpful, positive, and grateful for the fun we had.

Beverly Denton completed a 5K Andrew Jackson Marathon in her new FUMC Soul Sister Tshirt. The shirts come in teal and deep pink. They are cool-max fabric, easy to wash, and keep you cute and cool in the summer. Susan has them available on her desk for $15.00 each. You can exercise in the shirt, but we can’t guarantee you will win like Beverly. She won her age group exclaiming, “I won in my age group, so sometimes it pays to get old!”

A great evening with Carol Ryan and her hilarious talk about simplifying your life. She inspired us to get rid of some stuff! A fun Soul Sisters night out!
