SERVICE FOR THE LORD’S DAY

Prelude Chiming of the Hour Welcome and Announcements

Come and find the quiet center in the crowded life we lead, find the room for hope to enter, find the frame where we are freed: Clear the chaos and the clutter, clear our eyes that we can see all the things that really matter, be at peace and simply be.

*Call to Worship We are called to lead a life worthy of God’s call. We are called to live a life filled with humility and gentleness, patience and love. We are called to work and live in the unity of the Spirit. We are called to worship one Lord.

*Hymn 489 Open Now Thy Gates of Beauty *Call to Confession *Prayer of Confession Holy One, have mercy on us because of your never-ending and constant love. With your compassion, take away our sin. We have not done what you desire. Create in us clean hearts, O God,

and put a new and right spirit within us.

Time for silent confession. And all God’s people said: Amen.

Psalm 46

Hal H. Hopson

Refrain God, our strength and mighty fortress, God, our refuge day and night; God, whose promise is de-liv’rance, God whose law is truth and light; though the earth with fear may tremble, none can shake God’s boundless might. Refrain In the city of the Holy, rivers flow and streams run pure; where you, Lord, abide in splendor, there your people dwell secure. In their hearts your love will flourish, through the faith your word endures. Refrain Come, behold God’s matchless wonders, see the deeds of God’s own hand; Gifts beyond our ex-pectations, works too great to understand. Sound God’s might in song of glory sung to earth’ most distant land.

Prayer for Mission

Invitation to the Lord’s Table

Prayer of Great Thanksgiving and the Lord’s Prayer (Traditional, p. 16, Hymnal)

The Lord be with you.

We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right to give our thanks and praise.

It is truly right and our greatest joy…

Breaking of the Bread

Communion of the People The Presbyterian Church practices open communion – welcoming to the table baptized children and anyone who con-

fesses Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. If your tradition permits, you are welcome to share the table with us. If you are

uncomfortable doing so, please use this time as a time of prayer and reflection.

Our usual practice is to eat the bread together to symbolize the unity we share in Christ, and we receive the cup as

individuals to acknowledge the very personal need for forgiveness by God’s grace. You will be served by the elders at your

seat. Prayer after Communion
