PROGRAMChange Your Thoughts and ImproveYour OutcomesAn update on protocols, products and treatment options Tricia Osuna, RDH, BSDH, FAADH Course Description:Updated protocols assist us in determining our patient’s specific needs. As we move towards a more collaborative profession, we need to embrace these updates to identify those needs. We are presented with continuous challenges of new advances in products and technology and their use in dentistry and are in need information to determine when and how to add them into our armamentaria. As professionals providing health services, our perception of product use along with protocols needs to be discussed with our team as well as the interdisciplinary referrals we have. The process of care (assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation) requires a comprehension of protocols, products and treatment options and how they are to be utilized. Learning Objectives:• Modify diagnosis assistance with the team and rationale for changes in assessment forms and diagnostic tools • Distinguish which new-to-market products should be brought into your practice • Integrate materials and products for a variety of uses in the dental office from infection control, dental hygiene therapy, oral cancer screening, patient communication and instrumentation • Develop effective communication with patients and assist in the business of the dental practice • Formulate strategies that incorporate efficiency in patient treatment for more productive scheduling

Ambrose, DDS, MSCourse Description:This presentation will provide and entertaining and informative review of some myths and misconcep-tions surrounding periodontics and implant dentistry. We will also explore what the future holds for the profession and how the role of the dental hygienist is evolving in the era of collaborative care.Learning Objectives:• Dispel some common myths about periodontal and peri-implant disease• Separate the facts from the fiction about products and techniques we use every day• Discuss future therapies that dental hygienists can incorporate into their practice

Soft Tissue Graft Failure CanBe PreventedFarshid Ariz, DMDCourse Description:Soft tissue grafts failure may not necessarily be related to operator or the use of different techniques. We will review the other cause of graft failures like sleep related Bruxism which is also related to the development of TMD and oral facial pain. Learning Objectives:• What causes the initiation of the graft failures.• How to Identify the markers for the graft failures.• Preventing the relapse of completed graft procedures

TRICIA OSUNA, RDH, BSDH, FAADH Tricia is a University of Southern California graduate, Past President and Fellow of the American Academy of Dental Hygiene and Past President of the California Dental Hygienists’ Association. In June of 2018 Tricia will celebrate 40 years as a dental hygienist to share with her audiences. Her lengthy background in clinical practice along with education has offered her the opportunity to share real-life clinical experiences in her courses for over 25 years. She has been extremely involved in leadership in her profession for her entire

career as an enthusiastic lifelong CDHA and ADHA member and a dedicated advocate for advancing the profession. She was appointed to the Dental Board of California in 2002 for a four-year term. Tricia is the 2015 recipient of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association Alfred C. Fones Award for her dedication to leadership. Also recognized for her many efforts and contributions to the Dental Hygiene profession, Tricia has received several awards including the CDHA’s President’s Recognition Award, the ADHA Bausch and Lomb Distinctions in Dental Hygiene Award and the ADHA Distinguished Service Award. An author, clinician, educator, consultant, international presenter, mentor and business owner her passion for dental hygiene radiates in her presentations!

LAURENCE S. AMBROSE, DDS, MSDr. Ambrose is a board certified periodontist and has been a full-time staff member at the VA Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona since 1998. He is also Adjunct Clinical Faculty at the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health. He received his certifi-cate in Periodontics from the VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and his Master of Science degree through Marquette University. From 1991 to 1995 he was a Commissioned Officer with the United States Public Health Service and practiced general dentistry on numerous Indian Reservations in northern New Mexico. He is currently an officer with the Western Society of Periodontology and is Past Presi-dent of the Arizona Society of Periodontists.

FARSHID ARIZ, DMDDr. Ariz is a 1989 graduate of the Boston University School of Dentistry where he received his DMD degree. In 1991, he received his Certification in Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) in Periodontics. He is an Assistant Professor to Advanced Periodontics over for 25 years at Ostrow School of Dentistry of University of Southern California. Dr. Ariz is a Diplomate, American Board of Craniofacial Pain (ABCP) and he has extensive training in orthopedic Craniofacial dysfunction. He has treated patients with Craniofacial pain,TMJ soreness and jaw discom-fort, primary headaches, face, neck and shoulder pain. He is also Diplomate,

American Board of Craniofacial Dental Sleep Medicine (ABCDSM) were he is treated patients for Obstructed Sleep Apnea and snoring, daytime drowsiness and patients who are CPAP intolerance. Beside lecturing and presenting in academia and educational meetings, Dr. Ariz is involved in TMJ & Sleep Therapy Research for non-surgical therapy to improved quality of life. He is the program leader in fundamentals courses in American Academy of Craniofacial Pain. His expertise includes implantology, esthetic implant surgery, esthetic periodontal therapy, and full mouth reconstruction. Dr. Ariz is a member of the American Academy of periodontology, Western Soc. of Periodontology, American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, American Academy of Osseointegration and a member of the Medical Review Institute of America, Inc and Los Angeles County Medical Association.
