The extreme dynamism of today’s companies requires constructivestate-of-the-art solutions. SOCOMEC SICON UPS offers its clientsthe total adaptability and flexibility of MODULYS for their variousarchitectures and plants. The three power ratings available for eachMod-Power, the possibility to “migrate” from a Tower configuration(Mod-TW) to the 19” Rack (Mod-RK) and subsequently into theMod-System, all contribute to make MODULYS the most flexibleand reliable solution for the supply of protected power to your critical installations.

The wide range of models specifically designed to meet yourrequirements means that you can choose the one that is mostsuited to your needs, safe in the knowledge that adapting the UPS toyour future power and back-up requirements will not be a problem.

Economical> The UPS that saves your money

Investing only in the indispensable is finally a viable strategy. The totally modular nature of MODULYS means that your initialinvestment is safeguarded; not only can all the stand alone units beused in Tower or Rack versions, but they can also be housed insidethe Mod-System, thus forming the foundation of your system. The realcapability to increase power and back-up simply by adding modulesis a guarantee that adapting the UPS to your company will truly beeconomical.

Unnecessary expense is a thing of the past; your investment todaywill be the basis of your future growth.

Simple> The UPS that has everything, yet is easy

to manage

SOCOMEC SICON UPS are committed offering a UPS solution thatis complete and has a wide variety of features, while at the sametime ensuring that installation, use and maintenance are simpler thanever. The Mod-Power and the Mod-Battery units are “plug-ins”, whilethe communication cards are quick and easy to install.

Reliable> The UPS with the best technology

MODULYS is synonymous with highly reliable technology. All control and monitoring functions are supported by fully digitalcircuitry, guaranteeing the highest possible operating reliabilityunder all environmental conditions.

MODULYS is also characterized by the adoption of innovativesolutions as yet unknown to its competitors. Each Mod-Powerhas in fact an internal controller. By adopting this architecture, each Mod-Power is able to operate independently, thusguaranteeing the total reliability of the whole system. If one Mod-Power is not working, this will have no effect on system operation, the module will simply be excluded from the system. The sameconcept of total independence also applies to the Mod-Batteryunits. If one Mod-Battery is not working, the power supply will notbe interrupted.

> Do your needs change over time?

MODULYS adapts easily to changes and to the growth of your system.SOCOMEC SICON UPS is the only company able to offer you powermodules (Mod-Power) of 1.5, 3, 4.5 and 6kVA, offering a completefamily of products which, in the Tower, Rack and Mod-System versions, are easily combined to ensure the ideal configuration for your presentand future power supply requirements.

> Does the protection have to be total?

MODULYS is a modular UPS: the number of Mod-Power and Mod-Batteryunits can easily be increased to provide redundant operation, from N + 1to N + X. In this way, total availability of the system is achieved (HighAvailability), even if one or more modules are inoperative.

> Does the protection have to be continuous?

SOCOMEC SICON UPS has thought of this, too. In fact the Mod-Powerand Mod-Battery units are of the Plug-in type, which can be replacedor inserted while the system is in operation (Hot swap). In this way, true continuity of power supplied to the load is achieved, without anyinterruption of service.

> Is it difficult to foresee your future needs?

The modular configuration of MODULYS allows you to increase thenumber of Mod-Power and Mod-Battery units, thus increasing youruninterruptible power system’s power and back-up. In this way you caneasily cope with future situations which you are not able to predict today.

> Is space a scarce resource?

This is why MODULYS is the most compact UPS in its category. It reallyrequires very little space to install it, whether in the stand-alone versionsor in the numerous Mod-System configurations.

Technology is the trademark of a great company. SOCOMEC SICON UPS can offer:

> No single point of failure solutions

Each individual Mod-Power has its own integrated controller and automaticby-pass. In the Mod-System, this design is an additional guarantee sincethe load will be powered even if one of the Mod-Power is not working.

> Full digital control technology

MODULYS is completely controlled by digital circuits. The use of digitalcircuits allows for greater precision and ensures stability over time of theoperating parameters of the whole system.

> Top level communication solutions

A full set of communication solutions makes the MODULYS range themost open UPS to communicate. It comes with RS232 serial interface asstandard. It also offers a wide range of additional solutions to adapt toeach customer environment: “Dry contact” relay board, NET VISIONSNMP/web adapter and Advanced communication card, allowing forenvironmental control function and a second RS232/485 serial interface.

> On-line double conversion technology

The most effective technology for protecting data from mains outageas well as other types of electrical failures. It’s VFI (Voltage Frequencyindependent) feature, means that the inverter which generates the outputvoltage permanently supplies the load. Continuity and stability of both thevoltage and frequency is thus ensured, irrespective of the mains input.

> Energy management solutions• Power share plug: this is a standard socket dedicated to non-critical

loads. It’s able to disconnect its load when a preset condition(relative to remaining back-up) occurs, to save battery back-up timefor critical loads.

• Eco mode: this operating mode has been designed to power non-critical loads, in order to reduce power consumption on the UPS.

• Remote shut down to shut down the UPS from a remote stationwith NET VISION.

• Frequency converter: the frequency converter allows for a 50Hzinput and a 60Hz output, or vice versa.

• Neutral arrangement: MODULYS is also compatible with IT earthingarrangement.

> WHY... make do with the usual UPS, if youcan have more?

The development of markets and of technology requirescompanies to make ever more rapid changes. What is valid todaymay no longer be so tomorrow.

Always attentive to market demands, SOCOMEC SICON UPStoday is proud to present MODULYS.

MODULYS is flexible and reliable, because it is a “living” system, which models itself and takes shape around your requirements, both present and future.

MODULYS is in fact totally modular: the wide range of solutionsavailable and the capability to adapt them to your requirementsmake MODULYS a completely innovative system, designed to befully integrated in all professional environments and to satisfy themost specific corporate applications.

> A CONCEPT... that keeps abreast of the timesThe concept of evolution is the guiding force behind theMODULYS design philosophy, developped to be easily adaptableto the constant changes required by your loads.

The Stand Alone units are available in both Tower (Mod-TW) andRack (Mod-RK) configurations; but most importantly, the Mod-TWunits can easily be converted into Mod-RK units, suitable forinstallation inside standard 19” cabinets, simply by using theappropriate Kit. This solution enables you to decide on themost appropriate use of your UPS at any time.

MODULYS is not only a Stand Alone UPS, however: it is alsoavailable as a Mod-System in the RM, MC, EB, EM and TC versions, where modularity is synonymous with evolution.

With MODULYS, an upgraded system can be built up, composedof the same modules as the Stand Alone units. This means that iftoday you buy a stand alone unit, tomorrow you could use the verysame unit as the first “building brick” of your new Mod-System,making a substantial saving and at the same time spreading thecosts over a period of time.

As there are several different versions, designed specifically tomeet the requirements of each type of application, the MODULYSsystem is able to satisfy your current needs for a protected powersupply, while leaving open the possibility of future expansionsthanks to power ratings from 1.5 up to 24 kVA.

> TECHNOLOGY... that is ahead of the timesThe high technological level of MODULYS can be seen in thematerials and the design, which were inspired by aeronautics. Italso stands out for being the first in the world in the field ofUninterruptible Power Systems to use hybrid componenttechnology, which enhances the reliability of the powercomponents.

Strictly on line double conversion with DSP digital control,MODULYS is of course a redundant UPS, due to theadoption of Load Sharing Technology.

The installation of N+1 Mod-Power modules thus alwaysguarantees proper operation of the UPS.
