her first quilt book for $1 at a yard sale. Her
business evolved from there. Christy likes
making quilts for her boyfriend, two daughters,
one granddaughter, and three grandsons.

Set-In Seams

1. Mark a dot on wrong side of each
piece at intersection of ¼"seam
allowances as shown in Photo A.
2. Join 2 diamonds, stitching from
dot to dot; backstitch at dots
(Photo B). Press seam allowance to
one side.
3. Pin 1 triangle to diamond unit,
aligning dots. Stitch from center
dot to outer edge (Photo C).
4. Stitch triangle to adjoining
diamond unit to complete 1 side
unit (Photo D). Make 4 side units.
5. Join side units (Photo E).
TIP Except for the outer edge of block, always stitch
from dot to dot. This will keep seam allowances free to allow you to set in pieces.
6. In the same manner, set in squares
to complete star (Photo F).
Always press seam allowances in the same
direction.
