Today is the First Sunday of Advent. We are both beginning a new liturgical year and entering into a season of preparation for Christmas. We will often hear that the liturgy of the Word calls for vigilance – to be watchful... “Stay alert” - it means to prepare ourselves to meet Jesus.
STEWARDSHIP NOTE
“But when these signs begin to happen, stand erect and raise your heads because your redemption is at
hand.” (LUKE 21:28 ) We celebrate Advent each year in preparation of the birth of Jesus, His first coming, as we await his second coming. In this Advent season, use the sacrament of Reconciliation to strengthen your relationship with Jesus. It’s never too late.

WEDNESDAY - NOVENA to Our lady of Perpetual help will be said after evening Mass 6.30pm in Polish. Prayer requests in English or Polish, printed clearly may be placed in the box at the main entrance.
PRAYER FOR PRIESTS “If there was ever a need to pray and sacrifice for priests for their preservation and sanctity, it is today. Praying for priests has been the practice of the Church since apostolic times. We read in the Acts of the Apostles: ‘Peter therefore was kept in prison. But prayer was made without ceasing by the church unto God for him.’” Please join us on Thursday, December 6th, First Thursday of the Month, for a special time to pray for our priests and seminarians. We will begin with Mass at 6:30pm in English, followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. We will pray the Rosary, other prayers, and there will be a silent time for personal prayer. A priest will be available for Confession during that time. SOLEMNITY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION OF THE BVM
On Saturday, December 8th the Church is celebrating the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the patronal feast of the United States. This is a
Holy Day of Obligation in the U.S. (even if it falls on a Saturday or a Monday); this means that if you do not have any serious obstacles, you should participate in Mass. Please check our Mass schedule for this day on page 2.
OPŁATKI (CHRISTMAS WAFERS) AND HAY This Sunday (1st Sunday of Advent) the Priest will bless the Opłatki and hay for your Christmas table. Every weekend throughout Advent, they will be distributed by the Polish School Students and Scouts, at the entrances for a free will offering.
SPREAD YOUR CHRISTMAS SPIRIT! After masses this weekend, the Knights of Columbus will be selling “Keep Christ in Christmas” lawn signs, magnets, stickers, Christmas seals (for cards/envelopes) and ornaments. These items help to spread the good news! Purchase some for yourself or as gifts for friends and family. Thank you for supporting the Knights of Columbus.
ADVENT PENANCE SERVICE One of the most important elements of preparing for Christmas is the sacrament of penance and reconciliation. I cordially invite everyone to the parish penance service on Tuesday, December 18TH at 6:30pm. We have invited several guest priests to come and hear confessions, so that everyone may have the opportunity to receive the sacrament of reconciliation before Christmas. MESSAGE FROM THE VOCATIONS DIRECTOR Please assist our Seminarians. Fr. Jim Mazzone, Director of the Office of Vocations of the Diocese of Worcester, encourages us to help our Seminarians. W sobotę, 8 grudnia, Kościół obchodzi Uroczystość Niepoka-lanego Poczęcia Najświętszej Maryi Panny, patronalne Święto Stanów Zjednoczonych. Jest to święto obowiązkowe w USA (nawet jeśli wypada w sobotę lub poniedziałek) tzn. jeśli nie mamy poważnej przeszkody, powinniśmy uczestniczyć we Mszy świętej. Porządek Mszy św. na ten dzień na stronie 2. Uwaga: Msza św. o 5:00 i 6:30 wieczorem w piątek, będzie Mszą wigilijną z Uroczystości Niepokalanego Poczęcia, z ka-zaniem, wyznaniem wiary i kolektą. Wszyscy, którzy w niej wezmą udział wypełnią obowiązek uczestnictwa. KOŁO PRZYJACIÓŁ RADIA MARYJA zaprasza na spo-tkanie modlitewno-formacyjne, które odbędzie się w niedzielę 9 grudnia, bezpośrednio po Mszy św. o godz. 11:00. Zaprasza-my wszystkich chętnych do wspólnej modlitwy w intencji na-szej ojczyzny i Radia Maryja. Szczęść Boże! KSIĘGA INTENCJI MSZALNYCH na rok 2019 jest już otwarta. Zapraszamy w godzinach pracy kancelarii. Podobnie jak w poprzednim roku, każda rodzina może zamówić dowolną liczbę intencji Mszy świętych w tygodniu oraz weekendowych na godz. 4:00 w sobotę i 11:00 w niedzielę. Są to tzw. Msze św. zbiorowe, na które otrzymaliśmy pozwolenie od naszego
biskupa. Jeżeli chodzi o pozostałe Msze św. weekendowe, to w dalszym ciągu obowiązuje limit jednej Mszy św. na rodzinę.
SPOWIEDŹ ŚWIĄTECZNA Jednym z najważniejszych elementów przygotowania się do Bożego Narodzenia jest sakrament pokuty. Pragniemy poin-formować, że we Wtorek, 18 grudnia, o godz. 6:30 będzie parafialna spowiedź, na którą zaprosiliśmy księży, tak aby wszyscy mieli okazję, przystąpić do tego sakramentu. Zapra-szamy do skorzystania z okazji, a także prosimy o przekazanie tej wiadomości dalej.
OPŁATKI I SIANKO
Przez cały Adwent, będą dostępne poświęcone opłatki wigilij-ne. Będzie można je otrzymać za dobrowolną ofiarę po każdej Mszy św. w weekendy. Rozprowadzaniem opłatków w tym roku zajmie się Szkoła Języka Polskiego, a uzyskany dochód będzie przekazany na jej działalność. Natomiast Harcerze i Zuchy będą rozprowadzać, również za dobrowolną ofiarę, sianko, które zgodnie z tradycją kładziemy na stół wigilijny.
BABY BOTTLE (BUTELKA DLA NIEMOWLAKA)
W czasie adwentu w naszej parafii organizujemy zbiórkę fun-duszy na pomoc dla Domu Samotnej Matki, który znajduje się w dawnym klasztorze sióstr Nazaretanek, koło naszej Szkoły St. Mary’s. Dom ten został otwarty 13 lat temu w Święto Na-wiedzenia NMP (Visitation) i dlatego nazywa się Visitation House. W ciągu tych lat pomoc znalazło tam ponad 300 kobiet w stanie błogosławionym znajdujących się w trudnej sytuacji i ich dzieci. Butelki, które rozdawaliśmy w ubiegłym tygo-dniu, trzeba przynieść z powrotem w 3 Niedzielę Adwentu 16 grudnia. Jeżeli ktoś chciałby się włączyć w tę akcje pomo-cy, to butelki są dostępne przy wejściu głównym, w zakrystii lub w biurze parafialnym. Można też pomagać on-line: www.visitationhouse.org.
PIELGRZYMKA DO GUADALUPE I MEKSYKU
Ks. Tomasz, wraz z grupą parafian i przyjaciół będzie na piel-grzymce do Guadalupe i Meksyku w dniach 3-13 grudnia. Pielgrzymi będą między innymi uczestniczyć w Uroczysto-ściach odpustowych ku czci Matki Bożej z Guadalupe 12 grud-nia, gdzie będą się modlić również za nas. Pamiętajmy też o nich w naszej modlitwie.
POMOC DLA SEMINARZYSTÓW
Dyrektor Biura Powołań w naszej diecezji, Ks. Jim Mazzone, zwraca się do nas z prośbą o pomoc dla seminarzystów, przy-gotowujących się do kapłaństwa. Chodzi o ofiarowanie gift card do różnych sklepów, najlepiej do Staples, WalMart, CVS, BestBuy albo karty Mastercard lub Visa w jakiejkolwiek wysokości. Na stoliku, na środku kościo-ła są umieszczone gotowe koperty z listą seminarzystów; wy-starczy tylko włożyć gift card, nakleić znaczek i odesłać. Dzię-kujemy za pomoc. Bóg zapłać!
RYCERZE KOLUMBA ofiarowali 6 zimowych kurtek dzie-cięcych dla rodzin w potrzebie. Jeśli ktoś potrzebuje takiej for-my pomocy, albo zna rodzinę w potrzebie, proszony jest o kontakt z biurem parafialnym.
PARISH MARIAN CONSECRATION Over the years, I have been personally inspired by the love that the people of our Parish have for the Blessed Virgin Mary, and how this love is expressed in beautiful devotions across our Polish and Ameri-can cultures. On the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, Sat-urday, December 8th at 4pm, I am asking all pa-rishioners to join me, and Bishop Robert McManus, in a special Mass of the Consecration of our entire parish to the Mother of God, asking
for her maternal help and protection. In doing so we are not only en-trusting ourselves to her loving heart, but we are asking her to bring us ever closer to her Son, Jesus. During this Mass, I will be making my own personal Consecration to Je-sus through Mary alongside many members of our parish community. Immediately following the Mass there will be a time of fellowship with a refreshments in the downstairs Hall. You are all welcome to join us! PRZEZ MARYJĘ, ZE ŚW. JANEM PAWŁEM II. Nasza parafia od początku swego istnienia (1903) została ofiaro-wana Matce Bożej. Nasi przod-kowie wybudowali ten kościół pod wezwaniem Matki Bożej i umieścili w nim kopię cudowne-go obrazu z Jasnej Góry. Jako obecni parafianie, pragniemy ponowić nasze oddanie się Jezusowi przez Maryję. Pragniemy to uczynić na wzór ofiarowania św. MESSAGE FROM OUR BISHOP
November 29, 2018 My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, On December 8 and 9, our parishes will be conducting the appeal for the Retirement Fund for Religious, a national col-lection that benefits nearly 31,000 elderly sisters, brothers, and religious order priests who are members of 547 religious insti-tutes throughout the country. The sad reality is that only 23 of those communities are adequately funded to care for their el-derly and infirm members who have consecrated their lives to serving God and the Church. During the 2018 World Day for Consecrated Life, Pope Fran-cis remarked, “There is no growth without roots and no flower-ing without new buds.” This analogy has certainly born out within the life of the Church in the United States. Senior reli-gious were the roots that established Catholic schools, hospi-tals, and social service agencies—allowing generations of Ca-tholics to flourish. Today the example of older religious inspi-res younger members to persevere in mission and ministry.
Just as our annual Celebrate Priesthood event helps our dio-cese to care for its retired diocesan priests, this national collec-tion assists many religious communities which struggle to pro-vide for aging members. Most elder religious served for small stipends, leaving a large gap in retirement savings. Rising he-alth-care costs and decreased income compound the struggle to provide adequate care. Your gift to the Retirement Fund for Religious provides vital funding for medications, nursing care, and more. It also helps religious congregations implement long-range retirement strategies, even as they continue to serve the People of God. I recognize this is but one of numerous worthy causes in need of assistance; I ask simply that you give what you can. VISITATION HOUSE BABY BOTTLE FUNDRAISER During Advent our Parish is participating in a Baby Bottle Fundraiser to benefit Visitation House, a Catholic home for homeless pregnant women in crisis. Since opening 13 years ago on the feast of the Visitation, they have wel-comed over 300 mothers and their babies. The bottles were distributed last weekend and will be collected on the weekend of December 15&16. If you would like to help, the bottles are still available at the main entrance, in the sacristy or in the parish office. Please support Visitation House by taking a baby bottle and returning it with your donation. Thank you! Give that a child may live!
