1. Welcome, introduction, and objective of the meeting

The chair welcomed the participants, followed by a round of introduction.

He highlighted that the objective of the meeting was for partners to share updates on emergency needs and interventions in Maidinatu/Old Maiduguri.

2. WASH activities update (plans, progress, achievements and

challenges:

UNICEF The UNICEF representative highlighted that drilling of one, out of

three boreholes had commenced. Drilling could have been completed but as a result of mechanical snag work will be completed by weekend.

UNICEF said they plan to upgrade an existing, or drill a new, borehole in Gungolong area of Madinatu

Procurement of materials is underway for the construction of latrines (where, how many, within what period?)

MSF Holland The representative of MSF Holland explained that there is

currently no intention to procure commence any new WASH activity in Mudinatu or Old Maiduguri

MSF Holland will continue dislodging in other locations

Save the Children Procurement has been completed and plans are underway for the

rehabilitation of a solar powered water point within Gungolong health center

AAH Currently engaged in bilateral discussion with CRS toward

developing a harmonized Hygiene promotion. Commenced the excavation of latrines in Elmiskin extension and

Garke camp Constructed additional Soak Away Pits (SAP) in Fariha extension Highlighted a serious gap in Lambu Camp which has only 4 blocks

of latrinesCRS

Proceedings commenced for the construction of fifty (50) units each of latrines in and bath shelters at El miskin extension. Construction has commenced for three units, each, of bath shelter and shower rooms

ACF and CRS had met bilaterally to strategies and harmonise on hygiene promotions exercise

Have plans and capacity to train hygiene promoters in close collaboration with other partners

Hygiene promotion and social mobilisation was carried out at El miskin IDPs camp

MSF- France No activities were carried out and planned activities

ZOA Conducted hygiene promotion in Shuwari 8 and el miskin

extension Negotiating with land owners to commence the construction of

latrines, procurement almost complete Conducted camp survey, reports to be shared later with sub group

NRC Although there are numerous planned activities by NRC, there has

these activities o Drill 2 motorized boreholeso Construct 10 VIP latrines and 10 bathing sheltero 1 hand pump borehole (are these planned or already

implemented activities) Apart from existing facilities plans to construct more latrines in

Filling ball (I don’t understand what “filling ball is) NRC plans to pull out of El miskin to Lambu area3. Gaps and Priorities

Need for capacity development of community mobilizers.

Lack of sufficient synchronization of partners’ activities

A gap of 84 latrines for 10,000 IDPs.

Provide hygiene promotion training for all community volunteers in Madinatu and old Maiduguri SC

synchronization between ZOA, CRS, and ACF towards effective harmonised and standardised hygiene promotions in the camp

o Ambiguity of needs for Sanitation facilities (Latrine & Showers) in Hurso Bashir Camp.

o Need for additional latrines and water supply in Old Maiduguri

o Need to enforce roll-out for facility construction at Hurso Bashir

o Simplify and harmonize all manuals, work books, slides and materials related to hygiene promotions for use by all partners willing to go to hygiene promotions.

o Conduct needs assessment for Latrines/Showers in Hurso Bashir Camp while the contractor is ready to implement. Work to commence within 5 days if there are no issues with the land owner.

o Conduct confirmation visits to selected sites and provide latrines and rehabilitate water supply to selected sites.
