PARISH NEWS

From Our Pastor… With all this COVID-19 cra-ziness, it gives new meaning to “March Madness”! We

can’t even de-stress by watching basket-ball games. However, there is a lot of low-hanging fruit to reap this Lenten season: We can see more clearly how much

we are attached to worldly things, our schedules and activities which we have taken for granted. We now can begin to see what is really important.

Use this time to slow down the hectic pace of life. Allow yourself to rest your tired body and recharge the im-mune system.

Spend more time with your family. Share a meal together and have mean-ingful conversations - from six feet away :-).

Now there can be time for quality prayer. Pray together as a family. Watch Mass on TV together. Read a good spiritual book and watch movies from Formed.org.

Together, with the help of Jesus, we can survive and advance!

Blessings,

ST. BONAVENTURE COLUMBUS, NE

MEALS ON WHEELS Though the COVID-19 situation is rapidly changing, Columbus Community Hospital’s commitment to the health and safety of our employees and patients re-mains constant. To help achieve these goals, we are

implementing immediate changes to the delivery model for our Meals On Wheels Program. Effective Thursday, March 19th, we are asking all current Meals On Wheels volunteers and drivers to suspend meal delivery ser-vices until further notice. We will utilize our current employees to deliver meals to our Columbus residents. We are taking this step to reduce the number of visitors coming in and out of the Hospital, in addition to reducing the risk of exposure for some of our current volunteer drivers. It is our hope this will be a very temporary solution and that we are able to transition delivery back to the volunteers in the near future. Should you have any questions about this change, please feel free to contact me at (402) 562-4461. Deb Moore

ARCHBISHOP LUCAS SUSPENDS PUBLIC MASSES AND CELEBRATIONS

The CDC and Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts are recommend-ing the cancellation of public assemblies with 10 or more people. Effective immediately, all public Masses and communal cele-brations of the Sacraments or other liturgies are indefinitely suspended. See next page for details on watching the Mass online with Fr. Mike. Adoration Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament Our churches should remain open as usual for people to stop

in and pray. Exposition can take place over prolonged periods of a

number of hours, so that groups do not congregate. Those who participate in our Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration ministry are encouraged to be prudent and to keep their hours at home if they are: a) sick or have symptoms of illness b) have underlying health conditions or are immune-compromised c) are concerned about the risk of exposure Confession/Reconciliation will be offered as scheduled, but there cannot be more than 10 people gathered. If you see there are 10 people in church, please return to your vehicle and wait for someone to leave.

An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You

are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things,

and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,

come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never

permit me to be separated from You.

Amen.

POPE FRANCIS’S PRAYER TO MARY DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC

O Mary, you always shine on our path as a sign of salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who at the cross took part in Jesus' pain, keeping your faith firm. You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need, and we are sure you will provide so that, as in Cana of Galilee, we may return to joy and to feasting after this time of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who has taken upon himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows to lead us, through the cross, to the joy of the resurrection. Amen.

Under your protection, we seek refuge, Holy Mother of God. Do not disdain the entreaties of we who are in trial, but deliver us from every

danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.

PRAYER TO ST. JOSEPH FOR THE WORLD DURING THE OUTBREAK OF COVID-19

To you, O blessed Joseph, do we come in our tribulation. Through that charity which bound you to the immaculate Virgin Mother of God and through the paternal love with which you embraced the Child Jesus, we humbly beg you graciously to re-gard the inheritance which Jesus Christ has purchased by his Blood, and with your power and strength to aid us in our necessi-ties. O most loving father, ward off from us every contagion of error and corrupting influence; O our most mighty protector, be propi-tious to us and from heaven assist us in our struggle with the power of darkness; and, as once you rescued the Child Jesus from deadly peril, so now protect God’s children from the snares of the enemy and from all adversity; shield, too, each one of us by your constant protection. Amen.
