“The Night of the Iguana”

centers on a defrocked, alcoholic Episcopal minister who is leading a bus load of middle-aged Baptist women on a tour of the Mexican coast in 1940. When the group becomes stranded in a cheap Mexican hotel, their lives inter-sect with the hotel’s widowed owner, an ancient poet and her grandfather and some German tourists. It is an intense play in which Tennessee Williams’ angry compassion comes through very strongly.

Lead roles are played by Doug Ryan, Christine Decker, Stephanie Moffat-Hynes and Rick Howe. Set design is by Karen Koziol, and costumes are by Sherry Recinellas.

Tickets for the play are $25 general admission, $22 for Hubbard Hall members, $15 for students and free for Hubbard Hall subscribers.

March 3 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the museum at 110 Avenue of the

Pines in Saratoga Spa

State Park. Consistently a sell-out, the event continues to grow each year.

In addition to delicious burg-ers and sides, Beer and Burgers features a variety of beers from more than 20 micro-breweries. Catering will be by The Lily and the Rose, who will offer a vege-tarian option in addition to burgers. The most entertaining wait staff ever – the Albany All Stars Roller Derby girls – will serve guests while on skates. Music will be by the band Summer of Doug.

While at Beer and Burgers, guests will have the opportuni-ty to view the museum’s cur-rent exhibit, “Porsche – 60 Years of Speed and Style in North America.” The exhibit features official Porsche race cars as

well as a 2005 Carrera GT “Supercar” with a 5.7 liter V-10.

Proceeds from the event will be used to expand the museum’s educational programming and to acquire an additional build-ing across the Avenue of the Pines.

raptors in a rare public appear-

ance by the Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS). Other fascinating presentations will be made by the New York State Wildlife Rehab Council, The Wildlife Institute of Eastern New York, Adirondack Wildlife Refuge & Rehab Center and North Country Wild Care. After the presentations, visitors will be able to visit info tables in the Exhibitor barn to see the raptors up close and ask ques-tions.

In addition to the raptors, the event includes guided snowshoe walks to look for at-risk raptors and songbirds, horse-drawn sleigh rides, and kids crafting activities by Southern Adirondack Audubon and the World Awareness Children’s Museum. Food vendors will also be available.

Admission to the Exhibitor Barn is free. A program fee of $5 will cover the VINS free-flight and one other Live Bird of Prey program. Horse-drawn sleigh rides are available for a fee of $1 per person. Be sure to bring your camera and enter your Winter Raptor Fest 2012 images in the IBA’s photo con-test.

Donations and purchase of Winter Raptor Fest prints and posters help support the Friends of the IBA’s efforts to protect endangered and at-risk birds of the IBA. Plans for this year include maintaining a public trail and establishing an inter-pretive kiosk as the group works towards its goal of a Nature Center.
