Submissions

Renaissance Drama is a peer-edited annual publication that investi- gates the traditional canons of drama as well as exploring the signifi- cance of performance, broadly conceived, in the early modern cultures in and around Europe. We invite submissions of manuscripts that con- cern early modern plays, theater, or performance, including essays on works in languages and traditions other than English (although we publish only essays in English); that examine the cultural discourses that shaped and were shaped by institutions of drama across Europe and beyond its borders; and that address manifestations of performance and performativity during this historical period, whether on or off the stage. Occasionally, issues of the journal are devoted to special topics.

The editors of Renaissance Drama prefer to receive manuscript submissions electronically, either as Rich Text Format (.rtf) files or as Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) files. The journal does not accept submissions by facsimile. Scholars preparing manuscripts for Renais- sance Drama should refer to the stylistic guidelines of the most recent edition of The Chicago Manual of Style, including endnote reference citations. For initial review of manuscripts, any legible full-size copies of illustrations are acceptable, but should an essay be accepted, its author(s) will be responsible for obtaining publishable quality images and any necessary permissions.
