ABOUT THE COVER

EarthMath by Henry Segerman shows an Earth-like planet with an unusually com-prehensible pattern of continents and oceans. It is, in fact, a sphere tiled with 12copies of the words ‘Earth’ and ‘Math’ arranged as the faces of a dodecahedron.

Henry Segerman is an assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics atOklahoma State University. He is also a mathematical artist, working mainly inthe medium of 3D printing. His research is in 3-dimensional geometry and topol-ogy. Other interests include procedural generation, self-reference, ambigrams, andpuzzles. Take a look at his web site at http://www.segerman.org.
